Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 17 May 2006 13:04 (twenty years ago)

three months pass...
Ready for number two? (This and the Borat movie are my sis's two favorite movies to look forward to for fall, bless her heart.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:45 (nineteen years ago)

'jackass 1' was weak-ass.

a rapper singing about hos and bitches and money (Enrique), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:46 (nineteen years ago)

SO EXCITED! (shall you be a bit patronizing to me too Ned?)

Watched a making of on MTV last night.Much lamentation on how hard it is to pull pranks now b/c of their recognizibility. Also, Bam was made to cry. haw!

Sam: Screwed and Chopped (Molly Jones), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:47 (nineteen years ago)

Jonny Knoxville is the only man who can challenge Steve Irwin for the title of "Greatest Human Alive"

-- Dom Passantino (killallgoth...), October 14th, 2002.

Now he reigns alone?

shall you be a bit patronizing to me too Ned?

I wasn't being patronizing! I *love* the fact that those are her two favorite movies to look forward to! :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:48 (nineteen years ago)

ech, still patronizing...

a rapper singing about hos and bitches and money (Enrique), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:50 (nineteen years ago)

:-(

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:51 (nineteen years ago)

i still love you, Ned.

teh_kit is a pantomime villain! (g-kit), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:51 (nineteen years ago)

jackass 1 was of of the greatest ever, a true contender, genius etc.

i feel genuinely bad for those who cannot, for whatever reason (childhood bed wetting trauma, republicanism, overly conceptual mindstate), enjoy it.

jhoshea (scoopsnoodle), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:52 (nineteen years ago)

There is hope yet, Mr. Kit.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:52 (nineteen years ago)

news of a 2nd Jackass movie reminds me that there is ALWAYS hope, Ned.

i feel genuinely bad for those who cannot, for whatever reason (childhood bed wetting trauma, republicanism, overly conceptual mindstate), enjoy it.

misfire, chief. nothing agin This Sort Of Thing in general, just execution (also the guys are hard to like).

a rapper singing about hos and bitches and money (Enrique), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:54 (nineteen years ago)

i feel genuinely bad for those who cannot, for whatever reason, enjoy it.

i've never understood that, either. it must be pretty awful. especially people who watch it, but then look away/cover their face during the painful/gross out bits.
why are you watching it at all!?
i watched that episode where they sit there drinking a gallon of milk because i knew they'd spew it up again, not because i like watching people drink milk.
TEH MIND, IT DOES BOGGLE.

teh_kit is a pantomime villain! (g-kit), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:57 (nineteen years ago)

what do you people think of 'dirty sanchez'?

a rapper singing about hos and bitches and money (Enrique), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:58 (nineteen years ago)

i always thought it really funny that the Onion AV Club sent their only female critic to review the flick, who had absolutely no idea how to process it. It's like the editors realized that the movie was critic-proof, so they figured they have a bit of fun by sending the chick reviewer to see it.

kingfish prætor (kingfish 2.0), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:58 (nineteen years ago)

(...and I'M patronizing?)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:59 (nineteen years ago)

what do you people think of 'dirty sanchez'?

Absolutely dire. I never saw the movie but I used to love "Jackass"!

One Man's Mede Is Another Man's Persian (Dada), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:00 (nineteen years ago)

what do you people think of 'dirty sanchez'?

You know when the Mayor of Morecambe said he wanted his town to be the British Las Vegas?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:01 (nineteen years ago)

misfire, chief. nothing agin This Sort Of Thing in general, just execution (also the guys are hard to like).

sorry didn't mean to be mean - it's just that that movie is exuberant joy personified in all its fucked up, brilliant vicissitudes.

jhoshea (scoopsnoodle), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:01 (nineteen years ago)

The difference between Jackass and Dirty Sanchez is that the only "entertainment" value in DS comes from them hurting themselves, it's like a skateboarding video writ large. In Jackass, the stuff is funny even if they don't get injured. I'd give examples but, y'know.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:02 (nineteen years ago)

skating around tokyo in filthy panda suits to the delight of the locals?

jhoshea (scoopsnoodle), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:05 (nineteen years ago)

Perfectly example. The Bounty Hunter skit as well, which is probably the funniest thing they ever did.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:08 (nineteen years ago)

Dudes, lay off Ned. He is not being patronizing, his favorite movie is the Lord Of The Rings for christ aloud! His sister probably* holds his choices in an equally rubber-gloved manner.

*my conjecture

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:16 (nineteen years ago)

Hehe. Actually we agree on a lot. (Besides, I'm looking forward to the Borat movie too fer Chrissakes!)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:17 (nineteen years ago)

i rate bam margera wants to know why Bam was made to cry plzzzzzzzz !!!

funny ringtones (funny ringtones), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:22 (nineteen years ago)

Ned, I tease. I just didn't want to fall prey to the big brotherly vibe.

the guys are hard to like

If only I had this problem.

re: Bam tears - he fears teh snakes and was locked in a pen with a King Cobra. Dastardly. Most of the special I watched last night was the guys complaining about how evil and cruel their director(jeff tremaine) is. Apparantly with the fame all they are left with is pain-inducing stunts on each other and dressing up as old folx.

Sam: Screwed and Chopped (Molly Jones), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:40 (nineteen years ago)

Ned, I tease. I just didn't want to fall prey to the big brotherly vibe.

:-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:42 (nineteen years ago)

they just came out with the 'unrated' DVD of Teh Movie, but I can't tell if the movie itself has been edited, or if it's just the extra half-hour of outtakes.

milo z (mlp), Saturday, 9 September 2006 01:34 (nineteen years ago)

Is Brad still allowed to play? Would Angelina approve?

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 9 September 2006 02:35 (nineteen years ago)

From the NY Times review, where they usually reveal why it got a rating ("Strong Sexual Content, Drug Use")

“Jackass Number Two” is rated R (Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian). Things you can’t even imagine.

milo z (mlp), Friday, 22 September 2006 00:33 (nineteen years ago)

haha. have tix for tomorrow. can't wait.

Sam: Screwed and Chopped (Molly Jones), Friday, 22 September 2006 15:17 (nineteen years ago)

Knoxville and Jeff Tremaine are interviewed in the Onion this week

kingfish prætor (kingfish 2.0), Friday, 22 September 2006 15:33 (nineteen years ago)

the Onion sez

Just about the only thing that could make this movie any gayer would be cameos from John Waters and Rip Taylor and a closing Busby Berkley-style musical production number. Oh wait, it's got those too.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Friday, 22 September 2006 18:01 (nineteen years ago)

I love Busby Berkley. :)

Sam: Screwed and Chopped (Molly Jones), Friday, 22 September 2006 18:03 (nineteen years ago)

http://www.avclub.com/content/node/53164

When Waters gazes over the American landscape and sees what his revolution in bad taste has wrought—vast armies of suburban teens lining up to see grown men drink horse sperm, do sadistic things with dildos, and vomit profusely—he must feel awfully proud.

Homoeroticism does have a long history in suburban skateboarder culture(where all these guys come from). hell, my best friend from high school would talk about the weird shit at skateboard camp.

kingfish prætor (kingfish 2.0), Friday, 22 September 2006 18:46 (nineteen years ago)

mmmmm, Bam Margera

the best airplane experience I ever had was flying back from europe on virgin air and 75% of the plane was watching the first Jackass and laughing their asses off.

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 22 September 2006 19:23 (nineteen years ago)

I did not see the first one in the theater as I had yet to have my jackass-guys-are-hot eureka moment. So I'm very much looking forward to it tomorrow. Also we are seeing it at the Alamo Drafthouse which means food + beer with movie. yay.

John Waters, Johnny Knoxville and "Steve-O" Stephen Glover in Paramount's Jackass: Number Two - 2006

kingfish prætor (kingfish 2.0), Friday, 22 September 2006 19:49 (nineteen years ago)

Easily the funniest thing I've seen all year, BUT:

1. Not enough Johnny Knoxville. Bam and Steve-O get more screentime, and the other players get even more than them. I don't mind Steve-O and a couple of the bit-players, but Bam is a bitch for the most part.

2. The Spike Jonze bits suck.

3. Much more mean-spirited and sadistic than the first movie or the TV show. The first one was defensible as physical comedy, pure and simple - I could recommend it to my parents and they loved the movie. This one, not so much, it's got a much harder edge, more gross-outs, and you have to get off (to some degree) on watching people be miserable.

4. Bodily fluids AHOY

milo z (mlp), Friday, 22 September 2006 21:03 (nineteen years ago)

I'm glad I hadn't read a review that spoiled the Berkley ending.

milo z (mlp), Friday, 22 September 2006 21:03 (nineteen years ago)

3 follows from 1 presumably. WIldboyz and the Bam Show were both pretty awful.

milo z (mlp), Friday, 22 September 2006 21:04 (nineteen years ago)

hilarious

and there seemed to be a normal amount of johnny knoxville, unless you are in love with him or something.

and i didn't think it was mean-spirited at all. i mean comparatively.

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 23 September 2006 03:52 (nineteen years ago)

Also we are seeing it at the Alamo Drafthouse which means food + beer with movie

i think this tops the list of movies i would never want to see while eating...

GOD PUNCH TO HAWKWIND (yournullfame), Saturday, 23 September 2006 05:30 (nineteen years ago)

definitely watching this in the theatre after ripping a bifter outside

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 22 July 2021 17:04 (four years ago)

I am so excited for this movie. Hope Wee Man gets a decent amount of screen time. I rewatched two of these recently and honestly I think my favourite scene was him not getting that the chair was electric and that he was convinced they had a secret card throwing machine.

i love how knoxville (i assume stuff like that is all knoxville) is so into & amused by old time classic hollywood/showbiz stuff like that

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 22 July 2021 20:00 (four years ago)

JK is clearly a buster keaton devotee, one of the reasons I love his bits so much is how cinematic his version of jackassian showmanship tends to be

I'm all in, but why so many archive clips in the trailer? I think I read that there would be archive Bam, to get around the bad blood, but seemed like a lot of old stuff I recognized in there, too.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 27 April 2026 16:34 (one month ago)

I think a lot of it is going to be Greatest Hits

EsBeeKid (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 27 April 2026 16:36 (one month ago)

the title might be a hint at that, whenever they get around to revealing it

uploading this content requires perseveration (sic), Monday, 27 April 2026 17:25 (one month ago)

tangentially related to this revive, also bcuz i don't know where to post about this on ILX -- did anyone see the movie The Piano Accident (2025) starring Adèle Exarchopoulos? not to give away too much but the lead character and conceit of the film is inspired by 'jackass' -- and i mean that literally, in flashbacks we see the lead as a young girl watching 'jackass' episodes w/ her father. it's more of a satire of mr. beast core but also touches on something real about 'jackass' culture that i haven't seen woven into the plot of a fictional film, great movie and Adéle is incredible, i think johnny knoxville would be proud

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Monday, 27 April 2026 17:32 (one month ago)

Odds n Sods movie gunna be, huh

Glower, Disruption & Pies (kingfish), Monday, 27 April 2026 20:18 (one month ago)

one thing that always blows my mind about this show is that only 25 episodes were ever made, if I had to guess I would've said like 70

frogbs, Monday, 27 April 2026 22:26 (one month ago)

Seems odd to me that they've replaced Johnny Knoxville with Nick Lowe

Hideous Lump, Monday, 27 April 2026 22:29 (one month ago)

what do you think "I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass" is about

frogbs, Monday, 27 April 2026 22:31 (one month ago)

Or Timothy Olyphant.
