N - Did you decide to craigslist it, ebay, or take it to a store??
J - Can you say what you're hoping for?
― KitCat, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:30 (eighteen years ago)
music go round gave me 2/3rds of what i paid for my dano 10 years ago. it was a really cheap guitar but it was fun to play. i'm gonna miss it. my friend lisa found an airline at a thrift store on the south side last weekend for FIVE DOLLARS. she said it's in great condition.
xpost- john be enigmatic and do both!
― chicago kevin, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:31 (eighteen years ago)
That's a good way to get press! ha ha
Well, maybe I could get more for my lotus just because it's purrrty. You can see her here.
― KitCat, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:35 (eighteen years ago)
dan, i'll probably ask $500 knowing i'll never get that much on craigslist for a reissue but will take $400 i guess? they're going for twice that on ebay.
ok, this is insane. my isn't a 2k5 reissue, it's a '96 reissue of the '62 but wtf buy it now price.
― chicago kevin, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:36 (eighteen years ago)
Haha. The way things are going, that's probably what will happen.
Sarah, I guess I'm sort of hoping it falls apart, just because I've already decided that I don't want to be in the band if it gets successful and requires us to do extended touring. I mean, I'm committed to staying in the band as long as it takes to record a new album (actually I still want to do that, no matter what) and train whoever they would get to replace me, but this just kind of makes it easier and makes me feel less guilty/regretful.

I want to say I paid @$100 for it back in... 1997 or so? Maybe it was a tiny bit more, like $150. Anyway, it was funny because at the time it was SUCH a big deal. I had my mom drop me off at the bank so I could withdraw the money from my savings. Then I walked from there to the guitar store, bought it, and got a gig bag and supplies. Then my mom helped me celebrate by getting the bag embroidered with SOMA on it (the guitar's name obviously). The bag fell apart at some point though.

That's a yummy looking guitar, Kevin.

I totally feel ya, but awhile ago wasn't that the reason that you were staying in the band? Funny how things work out. :>
― Jordan, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:42 (eighteen years ago)
Yep. That was also a couple years ago, when my life felt less settled and the idea of randomly picking up and travelling cross-country was more attractive. It was also when the band had existed for three or four years instead of almost six, which is a long time to put into something that you've never really been completely driven to do.
― jaymc, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)
that's what mine looks like, 3 tone sunburst with the red tortoise pickguard. i need to find my goddamn allen wrenches...

That reminds me of a nightmare I had once.
― KitCat, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:49 (eighteen years ago)
Hey, guess what? The movie CHALK is boring.
Nick rented it last night thinking it would be funny. I laughed a few times, but mostly it was blllaaahhhh.
ok, i need to get out of here and stop looking at guitars i can't afford and have little use for anyway. have a good day chicago.
― chicago kevin, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:50 (eighteen years ago)
Wait, is that the mockumentary about public-school teachers? I thought that was supposed to be good.
― jaymc, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:51 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah. That's what he thought too. I don't know. Maybe I would have liked it more if I hadn't been expecting it to be LOL funny.
― KitCat, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)
I want to see all the movies this weekend.
― Jordan, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:54 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, I think it's because we went into it with the expectation that it was a mockumentary (it is compared to The Office and Best in Show on the case). It's really just more of a fake documentary, if that makes sense. There was a little humor in it but not really jokes.
― n/a, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:54 (eighteen years ago)
What's out, J?
― KitCat, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:57 (eighteen years ago)
I wanna go to the movies too.
― KitCat, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 16:00 (eighteen years ago)
but for the overpriced popcorn
2 Days in Paris, Eastern Promises, and those westerns. Also reading that AV Club Oscar-O-Meter article made me want to see movies.
― Jordan, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 16:09 (eighteen years ago)
I won't lie, the real butter popcorn at the Sundance theater is gooood.
― Jordan, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 16:11 (eighteen years ago)
jaymc, would your shelves fit in the back of a regular car, if the back seats went down? we still need more shelves...
ugh, not a great day. leaving for an interview i feel unprepared for, and noticed my resume, which i've been tinkering with, is set to print on A4 rather than letter paper. so when i try to print it on US paper, it's all messed up. just what i wanted to do today.
― colette, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 16:14 (eighteen years ago)
Sorry, colette. Formatting can be a bitch.
― KitCat, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 16:16 (eighteen years ago)
Good luck though!!
― KitCat, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 16:17 (eighteen years ago)
Colette, I kind of doubt it. It's pretty tall. I'll measure when I get home tonight, though. I will probably just put it in the alley if no one wants it.
― jaymc, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 16:24 (eighteen years ago)
i might want it
― river wolf, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 16:43 (eighteen years ago)
The Onion crossword this week is fun.

snazzy
― kenan, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 17:37 (eighteen years ago)
where'd errybudy go? I am restless and annoyed at the tech department for making an important part of my job far more difficult than it needs to be. I'll spare you details.
I can't decide whether to go to the movies tonight or go home and be a lump.
― kenan, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:02 (eighteen years ago)
I love movies, but I also love lumping. I am so torn.
― kenan, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:04 (eighteen years ago)
Is lump fast asleep or rockin out with the band?
― KitCat, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:05 (eighteen years ago)
Well the Skokie guy has decided he can't afford the guitar, so that means I don't have to worry about that decision any more.
― n/a, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:06 (eighteen years ago)
Not fast asleep, just not contributing anything at all to the economy or the larger cultural dialog.
― kenan, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:06 (eighteen years ago)
Totally.
― KitCat, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:06 (eighteen years ago)
lol @ Lump
― Jordan, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)
Another buyer will come along. That guy was being a pain anyway.
― KitCat, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)
ok, today officially sucks. i get to the interview, and the woman who is supposed to be interviewing me isn't there. and she's not just out to lunch, she'd left for delaware an hour earlier. no email or call to reschedule. ugh. and she was so friendly when emailing to set up the interview!
― colette, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:09 (eighteen years ago)
xxpost I think fast asleep can't really be lumping, because it means getting rest, which will later increase your productivity. Sleep is too useful to be truly lumpy.
― kenan, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:09 (eighteen years ago)
I am going to do *something* important tonight. I can tell.

This morning at the gym I had the most amazing view. The moon was setting in the west and I had a completely unrestricted view of it from the free weight room. It was huge and red, and it went from being high in the sky to gone in about 10 minutes.
― Jesse, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:12 (eighteen years ago)
That sux, colette. :-(
― KitCat, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:13 (eighteen years ago)
Acceptable lump activities:
watching TV eating leftovers making an mp3 mix that you know you'll never finish or send to anyone watching a movie you've already seen half a dozen times reading Entertainment Weekly
etc.
― kenan, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:13 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, colette, that's bad. Of course, if she's that flaky, you probably don't want to work for her. But I know that's cold comfort when you don't have a job yet.
― kenan, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:15 (eighteen years ago)
How about US Weekly?
