so finally caught up with all of this, it was totally great but i'll probably need to watch them all again pretty soon because i still don't know who everyone is. also i feel bad for the kid playing joffrey if he's got such punchable face in real life.

Sat next to a dude on the train who was reading Clash of Kings on an iPad while reading my dead-tree copy, hah.
― Matt Groening's Cousin (Leee), Tuesday, 12 July 2011 04:06 (fourteen years ago)
Why do the younger Stark kids not have Northern accents? Not a major issue, but a lapse of attention to detail perhaps...
― Inevitable stupid samba mix (chap), Tuesday, 12 July 2011 08:16 (fourteen years ago)
I have thought about this. I reckon it can sort of be explained away by the fact that they spent more time with their mother who is from the south. Certainly with the girls they would be around her a lot learning to be ladies and so on, while the older lads hang out with gruff soldiering types.
― Number None, Tuesday, 12 July 2011 08:57 (fourteen years ago)
But overwhelmingly everyone in the world has the accent from the place yjeu grew up in, parents' accents irregardless. This is true. It's an error.
― Inevitable stupid samba mix (chap), Tuesday, 12 July 2011 09:16 (fourteen years ago)
I don't think it's a great explanation but the girls could have had elocution lessons or similar. Anyway, Jamie Lannister has a European accent and his brother Tyrion has some weird pseudo-English one so it's not like it's the only inconsistency.
― Number None, Tuesday, 12 July 2011 09:43 (fourteen years ago)
I'd always rather hear a number of inconsistent accents within a show or film than have otherwise perfecly good actors compromise their performances because they're trying to mimic an accent they'll never manage.
― trishyb, Tuesday, 12 July 2011 10:05 (fourteen years ago)
Tyrion reminds me of Eddie Izzard.

Dinklage gets a well deserved Emmy nomination!
― Number None, Thursday, 14 July 2011 13:28 (fourteen years ago)
That's one of the only nominations the Emmy voters got right.

wow Modern Family is the new juggernaut, huh
also ppl should not be rewarding Melissa McCarthy's hilarious "Bridesmaids" role by nominating her terrible, terrible sitcom

Isn't the entire premise of Mike & Molly "LOL, fat people"?
― online pinata store (Nicole), Thursday, 14 July 2011 13:47 (fourteen years ago)
from what I could tell, yes; I only made it through 10 minutes
― HOOBASTANK is my co-pilot (DJP), Thursday, 14 July 2011 13:48 (fourteen years ago)
Maybe I am being unfair because I've only seen the promos for it, but that's what it seemed like.
― online pinata store (Nicole), Thursday, 14 July 2011 13:49 (fourteen years ago)
Melisandre will be payed by Carice Van Outen and Stannis will be played by Stephen Dillane.

have they cast Davos yet? he seems like the best candidate for a "bigger" name actor out of the new main characters
― ciderpress, Tuesday, 19 July 2011 19:40 (fourteen years ago)

if a film ever gets made of The Wasp Factory the kid that plays Joffrey needs to be cast as Frank.
