I am 52 years old, and was in elementary school during the first years of integration. My family and my friends were never the racists you imply, and we didn't treat the new students as anything other than new students. I don't understand why everyone also has to assume it's a hate crime JUST because the victim was black. From what I understand from reading several other articles, this girl was highly intoxicated, high on Marijuana, and banging on this man's door and yelling at 2AM. I don't care if she was black, white, hispanic, ect. That could be deemed as threatening. Granted, I don't know exactly what transpired on that porch, but I doubt that 54 year old man though, "Oh, a black person they must be dangerous." I am so sick of how every time a black person is killed by a white person, no matter what the circumstances, it is a racist hate crime
