Took the kids to the pool today . Beeps wouldn't stop screaming HELP! HELP! before matter-of-factly saying, "I'm going over to the jump board [the diving board], brb. Ran over there to supervise at least, a four-year old girl planning on jumping from four feet in the air while not want to get her hair wet. She backed down and then jumped in from the edge.
Little Man, Henry, well, he just looped his arms through one of Beeps' old Barbie intertubes and floated around. There had to have been six inches on either side of his torso within the doughnut hole, but he just kept his arms looped and actually fell asleep at one point. Most laid back 20 month old I've ever seen in five feet of water.
We got them home, they took naps, and then it was off to a friend's backyard party. Beeps went into another room to watch TV while Henry allowed himself to be picked up by strangers and pushed in a swing.
Now it's nearly 10 pm CDT and they're still up. I'm hoping for a long sleep-in tomorrow morning.

• Just got the boy down. Better than the 1 am bedtime he pulled last night.

• Thinking about going upstairs and finishing off that Jim Wright book I started for no reason at all. Maybe get through a few chapters before the boy gets up again.

I live way too far out of town for the lack of public transport I'm faced with. Overspent heavily throughout the week cos I was finally this close to a town/civilisation. Been living on a protest camp where I'm not supposed to drink on a Saturday night when other people are.
Silly really, I should have gone out last night. I bet there was something to do. Could have got wrecked, danced for hours. Met somebody interesting and not been stuck with having to get out to the outskirts of town. Instead stayed in had the tv on and can't remember what I watched. Need to go dancing every now & then so should have. Great tension release methinks, maybe tonight though. The Art Festival parade is on and I might just bump into the right person. Ever optimistic me.
