Every time I accidentally leave the TV on at 11:30 on a weeknight, I see the opening of his show and think, "Wait, this is still on?"

yeah, i agree; that had me dying too.

i like how they seemed so much more on the same page when they were talking about jokes and bits and ideas, and then suddenly when they were talking about the psychological dimensions of performing and relating to the audience, their consensus vanished.

last night's episode was something else. this show is turning into something special.

yeah this show is great

the "daddy" bit was hilarious, but I already thought it hilarious that she'd be asking for nsa hook-up and then acting out like he's her husband anyway. When she came out in the nightgown putting on cream and talking about the PTA or whatever I was dying.

And vaginate or whatever...he really has a way of taking the oldest most cliche "funny because their true" jokes, like ye olde have to buy condoms/tampons/etc joke and making them fresh and real.

that was a really classic episode. & different, even from the pretty broad territory of everything til now; the piano score made it into this observational comedy through the silent parts, like watching him wrestle with his shoes outside her apartment, like a clown (the score for this is always so great anyhow). & how morbid parts of it were, the daddy scene was kinda roy andersson.

The homeless beheading/date segment was great too. And the incidental music that was playing while he was standing on the street as the homeless guy was running towards him seemed very, Double Indemnity-like. But just so cool that transition from her being bored/curious to pretty turned on by his honestly to OMG FREAKING OUT and running away.

And holy shit. Daddy/spanking and the vagitine and the night cream/sad nightgown...goddamn!! Just the look on his face while she's lying there crying her eyes out. Also loved the little detail of her sucking the extra cream off the top of the whipped cream cannister before she starts eating the blueberries, like there is NO MAGIC ever at all with her.

the homeless beheading scene may be an all-time classic for me. it takes a deft hand to make something so seemingly horrific so hilarious. I've been laughing every time I've visualized the scene.

Yup, the way the collision and rolling cabbage-looking head was filmed was just hilarious to me. then of course his reaction to it. As someone who lives/works in a city where there are tons of crazy people (san francisco), I knew exactly what was going on before they even showed the guy running toward him. Just that sharp shout on a city street, that so often leads to witnessing something that changes your day for the worse, triggered my "crazy person alert" response.

i suppose i should catch up on this huh

1st half wasn't as good as the 2nd but I think "gun guy" might be entering the personal lexicon
