A synopsis of the new episode titled The Return of Chef states that the boys notice "something about Chef that seems different. When Chef's strange behaviour starts getting him in trouble, the boys pull out all the stops to save him."

Isaac Hayes did not quit "South Park." My sources say that someone quit it for him.
I can tell you that Hayes is in no position to have quit anything. Contrary to news reports, the great writer, singer and musician suffered a stroke on Jan. 17. At the time it was said that he was hospitalized and suffering from exhaustion.
It’s also absolutely ridiculous to think that Hayes, who loved playing Chef on "South Park," would suddenly turn against the show because they were poking fun at Scientology.
Last November, when the “Trapped in a Closet” episode of the comedy aired, I saw Hayes and spent time with him in Memphis for the annual Blues Ball.
If he hated the show so much, I doubt he would have performed his trademark hit song from the show, “Chocolate Salty Balls.” He tossed the song into the middle of one of his less salacious hits and got the whole audience in the Memphis Pyramid to sing along.

scientology should be outlawed, but i realize that this is america, and we are all entitled to say and think what we want to. What Tom "Katie fucks me with a strap on" Cruise needs to learn is that no one has a right not to be offended.
Im really gonna miss chef.

Yeah, that's why they had him fall off a cliff, impaled, mauled by a bear and mountain lion, and then shot. And set on fire, I think.

Soul great Isaac Hayes has slammed reports a stroke was the real reason hequit South Park. Last week, an internet report claimed Hayes, 63, hadsuffered a stroke in January and a mystery person has issued a press releaseon his behalf, declaring his reasons for leaving the program. ScientologistHayes departed his voiceover role as ladykiller Chef in the popularanimation series on March 13, claiming he could no longer support thecontroversial comedy's "inappropriate ridicule of religious communities."
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have killed off the characterof Chef in the opening episode of the new series, which sees the culinaryloverman depicted as a pedophile before dying in a series of grisly events.
Hayes insists his health has nothing to do with his decision to leave theshow, and says the only time he went into hospital was to receive treatmentfor high blood pressure and exhaustion. His spokeswoman Amy Harnell says,"That's a false report. He wasn't in the hospital for very long. He's backon his feet, and Doing really well. The press release did come from him. Heis the one who decided to leave South Park. Basically, he decided to leaveit behind him."
Harnell adds Hayes is busy preparing himself for fatherhoodagain because his fourth wife Adjowa is expecting a baby "due any minute."

Wasn't the Fox guy's point that unappointed spokespeople were speaking for Hayes?
Besides, isn't it kind of ungrateful to gratuitously kill someone off who's basically been responsible for most of yr success, even if they are a wackjob?
