Wait, GZA is not the same person as Ghostface.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 27 February 2006 20:53 (twenty years ago)

SHIT

Steely Df'nM (OutDatWay), Monday, 27 February 2006 20:58 (twenty years ago)

Also, I spelled Genius wrong. I should leave the hipping and hopping to the people who know what they're talking about.

Steely Df'nM (OutDatWay), Monday, 27 February 2006 20:59 (twenty years ago)

Last Days of Disco is pretty good. Is that really what it's like working in the NYC book industry, Laurel?

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 27 February 2006 20:59 (twenty years ago)

Not in the slightest.

Laurel (Laurel), Monday, 27 February 2006 21:01 (twenty years ago)

So, now Indian food is ON?

I hope Nick feels well enough to go, because that sounds yum to me. OTOH, he generally dislikes Indian food.

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 27 February 2006 21:25 (twenty years ago)

B-b-but he lived in India!

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 27 February 2006 21:29 (twenty years ago)

Or maybe that's a classic "despite the fact, or perhaps because of it" thing for him.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 27 February 2006 21:29 (twenty years ago)

uh huh But I've played a part in making him become more tolerant of Indian food, so maybe..

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 27 February 2006 21:31 (twenty years ago)

I could go for some Indian food. For some reason I never like it as much as takeout, though.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 27 February 2006 21:33 (twenty years ago)

(not that it stops me from getting Indian takeout, of course)

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 27 February 2006 21:34 (twenty years ago)

I love spicy food therefore indian = best food ever to me. Devon ave and western = my idea of (eating) heaven, except for the whole far-north-west-side-not-being-near-the-el thing.

deej.. (deej..), Monday, 27 February 2006 21:39 (twenty years ago)

I can't remember the name of the Vietnamese place that Jeff mentioned in the old thread, but if it was Hai Yen I went there the other night and it was bad ass. Ironically, right below their veg menu is "7 Courses of Beef" and the vastly inferior "5 Courses of Beef."

Steely Df'nM (OutDatWay), Monday, 27 February 2006 21:46 (twenty years ago)

I haven't been there but I was just talking about it this weekend! Did you the the 7-spot? Looks tasty.

Jeff. (Jeff), Monday, 27 February 2006 21:52 (twenty years ago)

So, 7pm? Where?

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 27 February 2006 21:53 (twenty years ago)

That place on Lincoln is good! We order there from work sometimes

gbx (skowly), Monday, 27 February 2006 21:59 (twenty years ago)

No, I got the Red Snapper (very tasty.) My housemate had gotten the 7 courses before, and said it was insane... Brought out by a procession of waiters all at once, he didn't know where to start!

Steely Df'nM (OutDatWay), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:14 (twenty years ago)

We also got parts of the 7 courses as appetizers and they were very very good. Vietnamese is my new favorite.

Steely Df'nM (OutDatWay), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:16 (twenty years ago)

I'm definitely going there this week sometime.

Jeff. (Jeff), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:18 (twenty years ago)

I'm also itching for more german:

Jeff. (Jeff), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:19 (twenty years ago)

This pro-Guffman, anti-Tap madness is madness.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:20 (twenty years ago)

I quote Guffman at least a couple times a week.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:22 (twenty years ago)

So who is Indianing? Jenny, Jesse, Chris P?

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:23 (twenty years ago)

Yes, can you come?

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:26 (twenty years ago)

If you are meeting at 7, I'll go, then I can come right from work and be home before 8:30.

Jeff. (Jeff), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:26 (twenty years ago)

Yeah. Nick and I are up for it. We just need to know where to go.

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:27 (twenty years ago)

Someplace on Devon I imagine?
We've only been to one - Hema's, I think it was called - so I'd like to try a different one this time.

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:27 (twenty years ago)

Cool, Jeff.

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:28 (twenty years ago)

Corner of Lincoln and Wilson. In Lincoln Square. Essence of India.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:28 (twenty years ago)

(Not that I'll be there, but trying to be helpful.)

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:28 (twenty years ago)

Unless it's far away, I couldn't even get up to Devon in an hour.

Jeff. (Jeff), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:29 (twenty years ago)

And yes, at 7.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:29 (twenty years ago)

Brown Line, bitchez.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:30 (twenty years ago)

So, I'm guessing that place is good, John? Sorry if you already said so before.

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:30 (twenty years ago)

What Indian place could you get to that you like, Jeff?

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:30 (twenty years ago)

The one in lincoln square is fine, I Can get there quick.

Jeff. (Jeff), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:31 (twenty years ago)

Ok. We'll be there at 7pm. Please call us on one our cells if the plans change.

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:32 (twenty years ago)

I've never been there. But Jesse said it was good. Am I wrong, though? Is that not where you guys were planning on going?

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:33 (twenty years ago)

You guys are meeting there at 7pm? If, for whatever reason, I'm kept late at work, I might join you.

gbx (skowly), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:34 (twenty years ago)

That is the place we are going.

I hope you are kept late at work, then.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:39 (twenty years ago)

Guffman sucks!

Cousin yogurt beard (nordicskilla), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:43 (twenty years ago)

Adam, I realized a long time ago that you hate everything I love. 'S cool.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 27 February 2006 22:58 (twenty years ago)

I love beards.

Cousin yogurt beard (nordicskilla), Monday, 27 February 2006 23:00 (twenty years ago)

Do you still have one? I'd love to see it.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 27 February 2006 23:06 (twenty years ago)

Yes I have one. You'll get your chance.

Geological fondue (nordicskilla), Monday, 27 February 2006 23:07 (twenty years ago)

Adam, when I finally meet you, we will not watch Guffman together.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 27 February 2006 23:08 (twenty years ago)

Great!

Geological fondue (nordicskilla), Monday, 27 February 2006 23:08 (twenty years ago)

Just to clarify:

Indian Food at 7 pm at Essence of India on the corner of Lincoln and Wilson in Lincoln Square of the Western Brown Line stop.

Be there!

Nutsy the Squirrel (pullapartgirl), Monday, 27 February 2006 23:13 (twenty years ago)

A regular day at Worker Justice, Inc...

Jesse asks if he can help me with anything. I say that he can write a letter to one of my workers about an EEOC mediation in progress. This is what Jesse writes:

I hope this letter finds you well. I can only imagine the ravages the stress must be taking on your handsome chest. Know that I am here to ensure that the pressure does not affect your virility; I will be a harbor for you to bury your pain when you need it I am always there to embrace you with my arms and my folds of feminity.

Nutsy the Squirrel (pullapartgirl), Monday, 27 February 2006 23:27 (twenty years ago)

Note: I did not mail this letter to the worker.

Nutsy the Squirrel (pullapartgirl), Monday, 27 February 2006 23:28 (twenty years ago)

I also liked 28 days later.
Wait, was that the artsy one where the zombies could run? Because that's the one I'm talking about. Oh yeah, the one with Cillian.
I thought he was funny in Red Eye.

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:20 (twenty years ago)

William Shatner was in several TZ episodes. Like the one with the fortune telling thingie in the diner? That one's great.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:22 (twenty years ago)

Magnolia was satisfying because it was fantastical. Rather than skillfully playing the line, Crash seemed to want to have its feet firmly planted on both sides--realism and pure imagination.

Also, Object Lesson from Crash:

Every race is jerky--White, Black, Persian--every race except Latinos who are hard-working, reasonable, helpful, family-oriented, loyal and friendly.

unclejessjess (unclejessjess), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:23 (twenty years ago)

Oh,I forgot about Asians, too

unclejessjess (unclejessjess), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:23 (twenty years ago)

Also, Latinos are hot.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:24 (twenty years ago)

Chris.

unclejessjess (unclejessjess), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:30 (twenty years ago)

Crash: Worst movie ever, or worst film ever?

unclejessjess (unclejessjess), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:31 (twenty years ago)

Are you going to be in contact while on your trip, Chris?

unclejessjess (unclejessjess), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:32 (twenty years ago)

Apparently I have cell coverage in random places in Montana, but less so in random places in North Dakota.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:34 (twenty years ago)

Chris, I'm going to be in town this weekend, so just stay for a few more days, k?

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:35 (twenty years ago)

I was able to do my now-traditional calling of friends to announce to them that I was in Minot, though! But I think on the way back the Minot stop might be at an awkward hour.

Jordan, I would but I have a show on Saturday and a cat that thinks I've abandoned her and I am tired of sleeping on a sliver of my ex's bed. But I am sure I'll be back and I would love to visit Madison.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:37 (twenty years ago)

sorry i didn't get to meet ya!

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:39 (twenty years ago)

Me too.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:39 (twenty years ago)

Also this is where I extend a hearty invitation for everyone to visit me in Portland. I have a futon you can crash on and I will bake for you.

Also this is where I thank everyone I met for meeting me and say that I had a lot of fun and think you are all Quality People. And I am sorry that I didn't quite get to meet some of you. I'm sure I'll be back at some point, though, possibly in the summer.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:41 (twenty years ago)

New thread title -- "Chicago: Quality People"

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:45 (twenty years ago)

It was good to meet you, Chris. Thanks for crashing that weird party with us!

Steely Df'nM (OutDatWay), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:45 (twenty years ago)

This is where I insert a montage of all the fun times we had.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:48 (twenty years ago)

"We'll meet again / Don't know where, don't know when..."

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:53 (twenty years ago)

We really do need a new thread, though. I was on last night without logging in and, whew.

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:53 (twenty years ago)

Got it, sire.

Eazy (Eazy), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:54 (twenty years ago)

Thank you. I'm fresh out of fun.

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:56 (twenty years ago)

Amateur tagger alert.

New thread.

Chicago: Ordinary People

Eazy (Eazy), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:56 (twenty years ago)

Ooh ooh! I posted the link as a link and it converted it to the thread title - nifty.

Eazy (Eazy), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:57 (twenty years ago)

Is "Quality People" a running joke?

unclejessjess (unclejessjess), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 21:08 (twenty years ago)
