I like them. They sound a bit like old U2 to me.

I can understand people not liking it, there's nothing really that jumps out about it and lots of people hate on dude's lyrics (though I think they're great), but I don't know, something about it just gets me.

See, I love old U2.

Also, two sets of brothers = cool.

Also old U2 contains some serious belting in the vocals and this guy sounds asleep/like Crash Test Dummies dude. I like a little more belting, less laconic snoozing. Like I said, I didn't hate it or anything, but it did not move me.

Whoa, thats some interesting stuff about the CMJ submissions on Pitchfork. The headline is needlessly alarmist, but does sound like that SonicBid site needs to get its shit together.

I didn't mean to start anything -- I just wondered if my lack of attention to little details of musicianship/recording had anything to do with my inability to like this band.

Oh, actually, I don't know anything about that. I definitely know that there are some things I like because I have more of a background in music theory than most people (unusual chord progressions, time signatures, etc.), but I don't know jack about recording or gear.

I'm not sure I do know what sounds I like re: recording, really. I don't know that I could isolate something like that. Maybe. I dunno. I thought it was my lack of expertise but it turns out I just don't like that band's music. Oh well.

i met mark at a party at hstencil's place about 7 years ago. fuck, MORE than 7 years ago. i've been here a long time.

Matt P. says that whenever he goes in there to give Mark a poster to put up, he always gets guilted into buying like two or three CDs. Mark even put on the new Iron & Wine while Matt was in the store to try to pique his interest.

I think the Solo Demos version of Okkervil River's The Stage Names may be one of my favorite things I've heard this year.

I haven't listened to the OR album, something about the description made me think I wouldn't like it. Is it country-ish?
