Back up the lesbian canoe (Laurel), Friday, 10 June 2011 18:41 (fourteen years ago)

robyn i hear you. you are not a bad housewive, you just don't have enough time! i am holding off on contacting the cleaning service in hopes of mustering up the energy to do a thorough bathroom and kitchen cleaning, but i don't think it's gonna happen.

j lol (surm), Friday, 10 June 2011 18:42 (fourteen years ago)

verily moths eat the sugar grans and are happy - rob their bliss

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Friday, 10 June 2011 18:52 (fourteen years ago)

i just swept and cleaned up a little bit. the apartment looks pretty good. besides the painting, i think the windows need to be cleaned, and the cupboards. i have a red kitchen so the only color that we could really paint the cupboards would be off white or gray. i think gray might be nice if it is just the right hue. would kill for wooden cupboards.

j lol (surm), Friday, 10 June 2011 21:36 (fourteen years ago)

cleaned the fans today.

j lol (surm), Monday, 13 June 2011 14:51 (fourteen years ago)

i don't even know how to talk to you about the cleaning i did last night. it was 11pm, and Ryan happened to mention that he noticed a bunch of mold above the bathtub. and it sent me into a spiral of inspection. for a hot minute i just sat back and became very depressed about the disarray of the house (everything seemed to be in disorder - all of a sudden). then, i grabbed the scour brush. 2 and a half hours later, i ran out to the 24 hour deli, bought some cat litter as the final touch, came back home and lit some incense, happy.

j lol (surm), Monday, 13 June 2011 14:54 (fourteen years ago)

ok so can someone please settle a debate:

in our bathroom, on the ceiling/higher parts of the walls, is a rusty colored substance that i believe to be mold/growth. bf believes it is just condensation droplets that have accumulated dirt/dust from the air and become rust colored. who is right? i sprayed some of it with a bleachy cleaner and it disappeared/turned white (not sure because it's on the ceiling). tbh i would need a step ladder to clean it and i just haven't gotten there yet, but i am very worried that we are breathing toxicity. my bathroom has terrible/no ventilation :(

tehresa, Monday, 13 June 2011 15:01 (fourteen years ago)

like could this possibly be the result of smoke from a blown-out candle drifting up into the water droplets of condensation? or is it nastiness that needs to go, now.

tehresa, Monday, 13 June 2011 15:02 (fourteen years ago)

that is exactly what i just took care of. it is really not that hard to remove. i think it is a combination of mold and condensation -- either way, when ryan pointed it out, i just couldn't. i was like i cannot shower in that bathroom tonight.

j lol (surm), Monday, 13 June 2011 15:03 (fourteen years ago)

the smoke thing DOES happen - but i typically notice it only right above where the candle is.

j lol (surm), Monday, 13 June 2011 15:03 (fourteen years ago)

yeah it is seriously grossing me out. i am not tall enough to wipe it clean. argh.

tehresa, Monday, 13 June 2011 15:07 (fourteen years ago)

ohhh -- well you know what might help? i bought a separate toilet brush that i use for all things shower. it is actually really helpful. just a thought.

j lol (surm), Monday, 13 June 2011 15:10 (fourteen years ago)

I think its mold or mildew - its rusty right? I get that too but its easy to destroy with bleach

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Monday, 13 June 2011 15:42 (fourteen years ago)

soo, my boyfriend is not the best at housework. he's in charge of getting the laundry done and food shopping, which he does (even tho he lets the laundry pile up and sometimes we have no food) -- but sometimes i feel like i want to encourage him to do more. but there is no good way to do it! he just doesn't think that way, and we end up arguing about it. but he is very generous in other ways so ... i think i just need to let it go.

j lol (surm), Monday, 13 June 2011 16:07 (fourteen years ago)

just promise "rewards"

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Monday, 13 June 2011 16:13 (fourteen years ago)

i have huge issues w/ a similar situation and i still haven't figured out the solution :(

tehresa, Monday, 13 June 2011 16:16 (fourteen years ago)

10% bleach works

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Monday, 13 June 2011 16:19 (fourteen years ago)

For Surmounter's boyfriend problem? Seems a bit harsh, but, hey, whatever works....

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Monday, 13 June 2011 16:25 (fourteen years ago)

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Monday, 13 June 2011 16:25 (fourteen years ago)

Anything that's not yours, out and messy, put on the bed and tell the slob: 'I do not know where these things go, could you put them away?'

chavatar (suzy), Monday, 13 June 2011 16:26 (fourteen years ago)

yeah - put your enema kit away!

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Monday, 13 June 2011 16:29 (fourteen years ago)

For the rust-colored stuff, a spray-bottle of water and vinegar should kill it if it's mildew or mold? Safer and more friendly than bleach or w/e but hey, bleach if you wanna.

Sometimes I think also that cheap paint and humidity just don't mix, because I've scrubbed that orange-y stain off of walls that've never seen a drop of water in their life (like in the living room or something) and it just appears out of nowhere.

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Monday, 13 June 2011 18:57 (fourteen years ago)

I get the same moldy stuff in my bathroom, and I'll go at it with a bucket of water with 1 part bleach & 1 part laundry detergent. Ladder & Scrubbing brush is necessary, but it'll keep the mold away for a good 9-12 months usually.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 13 June 2011 20:09 (fourteen years ago)

that is why you must scrub everyday

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Monday, 13 June 2011 20:10 (fourteen years ago)

fuck that noise

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 14 June 2011 01:51 (fourteen years ago)

j lol (surm), Friday, 17 June 2011 15:33 (fourteen years ago)

how often do you replace bath towels? this reminds me - i got bleach on my bath towels about a month after purchasing them... 11 years ago? eek. it's probably time for new ones, right?

tehresa, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:34 (fourteen years ago)

i need a friggin registry is what i need.

tehresa, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:34 (fourteen years ago)

housewiving w/out being a wife is hard.

tehresa, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:34 (fourteen years ago)

bleach on the bath towels is like my number one pet peeve. ok not number one but it's up there. how does it get there?? and on bedsheets??

replace as in buy new ones? maybe every couple of years

in terms of daily usage, i am very stringent about replacing the towels i use though. nothing worse than an old towel.
