For the past two days, the highs have been near 100 in Chicago. Today the high was 57.

Inane conversation I overhead on the bus about that very thing:
"It must be global warming.""More like global crazy!"

37 in Toronto (99), 47 with the humidex (116). I played nine holes of golf this morning, and though I'm far from great, something happened that's never happened before: twice the club flew right out of my hand, the first time about 100 feet into the air. One of the guys playing with me has promised to put this on the broadcast page at work.
― clemenza, Thursday, 21 July 2011 18:53 (fourteen years ago)
92 in Cleveland right now with a 99 heat index. Biking home this afternoon should be a real fucking joy when you add in 10-20mph winds.

― stepmomster (Lamp), Thursday, 21 July 2011 19:02 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah I remember reading some article like five years ago about how it was only going to get hotter thru Global Warming plus population increase would make heat in cities almost unbearable. I remember going "Hmm..." and now I'm thinking "Shit..." Not fun.

I couldn't stomach the idea of touching hot clothes tonight so I dropped a bag off for wash and fold this morning. $9 and totally worth it imo.
Well I will obv be wearing a cape all weekend as they are my signature look.

My daughter fell asleep in the car, so I had to drive around aimlessly for 25 minutes to keep the AC going.
Later today, I saw a guy riding his bike down the street with a full-sized window AC unit balanced on his handlebars.

― dell (del), Thursday, 21 July 2011 20:49 (fourteen years ago)
just saw a guy, on a bike, dragging an a/c unit behind him on the pavement.
it was too heavy and had no wheels underneath it or anything. he wasn't even riding the bike, he was just astride it, periodically yanking on the power cord, dragging it down the street. didn't seem like a good plan
― mookieproof, Thursday, 21 July 2011 20:49 (fourteen years ago)
Where are all the snarky assholes that say "huhhuh so much for global warming" every time it snows? Where are you now, assholes?

― jon /via/ chi 2.0, Thursday, 21 July 2011 20:52 (fourteen years ago)
xpostsha. if you're scraping the pavement, no matter if you're toting home aubergines or a/c units, it probably won't come to a good end. imo

Those anti global warming dudes are all recalling a mere two Chicago summers ago, when there were no days that even hit 90, and several in the 70s.
