Any decent guitar-related apps?

The Public Radio one pretty great. Has every station I could think of and it's great to have KEXP available so easily.

calstars, Friday, 27 February 2009 22:16 (seventeen years ago)

ironically, i'm happy i can finally hear WFMU in Seattle.

System Jr. (Mackro Mackro), Saturday, 28 February 2009 00:27 (seventeen years ago)

Anyone here using Google Voice beta? Do we have a dedicated thread for google apps?

baaderonixx, Friday, 13 March 2009 09:20 (seventeen years ago)

I take pix of products I'd like to buy later on...

baaderonixx, Friday, 13 March 2009 09:55 (seventeen years ago)

heehee. So you finally succumbed ey? good for you! my parents also bought one (for themselves). apparently a "good deal" as in japan you can buy'em for 8000 yen (if you get a plan or something probably)

new update to itunes and the remote app is pretty awesome. you run "itunes dj" (new name for party shuffle) and guests can use remote on their iphones to request tracks - the most popular move to to the top of the playlist. way better than just one nerd monopolising the music imo.

joe, Sunday, 15 March 2009 23:23 (seventeen years ago)

do u go to a lot of parties where everyone has an iphone

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Sunday, 15 March 2009 23:41 (seventeen years ago)

good point, but do u want people with inferior phones making choices about your music?

joe, Sunday, 15 March 2009 23:55 (seventeen years ago)

oh shit my airtunes connection has just started breaking up, i probably deserved that.

joe, Sunday, 15 March 2009 23:55 (seventeen years ago)

good point - dont know why i invite people who dont own iphones 2 my parties anyway

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Sunday, 15 March 2009 23:56 (seventeen years ago)

amazing that they can even receive invitations with their primitive devices. good for them!

joe, Sunday, 15 March 2009 23:59 (seventeen years ago)

lol i was joking, im not friends with people who dont have iphones

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Monday, 16 March 2009 00:01 (seventeen years ago)

GODDAMN FUCK IT ALL TO HELL!! I just found out that you need a Mac to use the iPhone App SDK. Fuck you, Apple.

Mr. Snrub, Monday, 16 March 2009 00:19 (seventeen years ago)

sorry, you can't come to our parties either.

joe, Monday, 16 March 2009 00:20 (seventeen years ago)

lol

Not exactly uncommon knowledge

I want to develop Windows Mobile applications on my Mac and I want to do something useful for end users on Linux. Never gonna happen.

I am one of you, iPhonerz

JtM Is Ruled By A Black Man (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Monday, 16 March 2009 03:29 (seventeen years ago)

Someone invented the Virtual Mac for Windows by now, right? I mean, how much of a Mac do you need to use the iPhone App SDK?

She Is Beyond Food In Weevil (Mackro Mackro), Monday, 16 March 2009 03:37 (seventeen years ago)

obv joeks about "virtual mac on windows" go there -------> .

She Is Beyond Food In Weevil (Mackro Mackro), Monday, 16 March 2009 03:37 (seventeen years ago)

what VoIP app do you guys use? Truphone and Fring are often mentionned - which one do you recommend?

baaderonixx, Monday, 16 March 2009 08:39 (seventeen years ago)

trying to wrap my head around why jott is considered a useful app. i mean, OK, i can jott notes to myself. but w/o copy and paste i can't jott them into anything useful on the iphone, like omnifocus or notes or email. i can basically just use it to jott stuff down that i can access when i get to my computer and then sort from there? why not just use a simple voice recorder?

moonship journey to baja, Monday, 16 March 2009 08:55 (seventeen years ago)

truphone works for me

i think you can get jott to email your jotts to you?

s1ocki, Monday, 16 March 2009 12:56 (seventeen years ago)

yeah but w/o c+p i can't get them from mail to another app.

i mean, sure i can go home and use jott express on my desktop to sort things into different apps but that just adds work!.

moonship journey to baja, Monday, 16 March 2009 19:34 (seventeen years ago)

We get copy/paste tomorrow!

3.0 looks totally awesome.

The Contemptible (Dandy Don Weiner), Tuesday, 17 March 2009 18:31 (seventeen years ago)

Big fan of Spotlight; C&P looks a bit clunky.

stet, Tuesday, 17 March 2009 18:53 (seventeen years ago)

it looks a bit clunky but I don't need to use it enough anyway.

Push in the API is sooooo overdue. Same with Landscape.

And now, if the fuckers at AT&T would just release the Microcell...

The Contemptible (Dandy Don Weiner), Tuesday, 17 March 2009 19:07 (seventeen years ago)

this is beta only still, right? it wasn't really released today and it sounds like everything was pretty buggy.

akm, Tuesday, 17 March 2009 19:11 (seventeen years ago)

about time on all that shit

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Tuesday, 17 March 2009 19:12 (seventeen years ago)

Damn. I got excited that my life was going to change today. Now I have to wait til summer? At least they seem to be addressing the major issues people have requested.

Nate Carson, Tuesday, 17 March 2009 20:20 (seventeen years ago)

people getting excited about c/p and a search function?

baaderonixx, Tuesday, 17 March 2009 20:42 (seventeen years ago)

welcome to life ON IPHONE

Wes HI DEREson (HI DERE), Tuesday, 17 March 2009 20:48 (seventeen years ago)

Hahah, so true. Still, nice to finally see.

Nate Carson, Thursday, 30 April 2009 07:23 (seventeen years ago)

"app" has officially become my current most hated phrase

private static void (electricsound), Thursday, 30 April 2009 07:24 (seventeen years ago)

BTW, I am on my 5th iPhone now. Thank you Applecare.

The first one crapped out internally and locked up irrevocably.

The second one, the mute button physically fell off.

The third was only mine for a day because they accidentally gave me an 8 gig instead of a 16.

The next day it was replaced by a 16 gig phone with a bad ear speaker.

This fifth one is just a dreamboat though.

Nate Carson, Thursday, 30 April 2009 07:25 (seventeen years ago)

I'd like to give a shout out to my new faveorite app - Polarize (ie turns your pix into polaroids)

baaderonixx, Thursday, 30 April 2009 08:45 (seventeen years ago)

^ Like the sound of that. Downloading.

a tiny, faltering megaphone (grimly fiendish), Thursday, 30 April 2009 10:49 (seventeen years ago)

Simplify Media is now on version 2.0, and cheekily they've released it as a separate app, so if you were in on the original early enough to get it for free, you still need to fork out for an upgraded (ie working) version. On the plus side, it does work perfectly now, even with huge media collections.

JimD, Thursday, 30 April 2009 11:29 (seventeen years ago)

Funny, I just un-synced Simplify from my phone last night. I never used the thing; it didn't talk to Last.fm; fuck it, really.

a tiny, faltering megaphone (grimly fiendish), Thursday, 30 April 2009 11:36 (seventeen years ago)

It talks to last.fm now. But I guess it's only really useful if you've got an always on/always connected machine at home to host the music for you. Which I didn't have until recently, but do have now.

JimD, Thursday, 30 April 2009 11:45 (seventeen years ago)

Been using the TVersity app so far - but it always fails when attempting to play AVIs so might try sth else
