Pretty much everywhere they have burritos, they have tacos. And you can get them however you want for them if you ask.

As far as the Vice Guide goes, Tulan is the best cheap vietnamese place in the city. It's in a particularly lovely part of the Tenderloin.

It's Nob Hill in the fantasy of a dodgy real estate broker, maybe. It's at the edge of the 'Theater District'/Union Square, kitty-corner from the Bohemian Club.

Yes! Always expect it to be chilly in SF. Don't fall into the trap of so many tourists, who have to buy cheap fleeces that say "SF" on it when they get here.

two months pass...

I'm going to have one day in San Francisco proper, and it's going to be next Sunday - what should I do? I don't have much of a plan - we were thinking of trying Pizzeria Delfina, which I gather is in Mission - is there much to do around there? Maybe grabbing some cheap good Cal-Mex food somewhere would be good, too (people keep telling me about fish tacos). What's the most fun/interesting things to do on a Sunday afternoon?

There is plenty around there. Walk along Valencia St. There are tons of boutiques, plus Aquarius Records, Borderland Books, Good Vibrations. And if you feel like thrifting there are tons of places on Mission St itself.

If you like seafood, go to the Swan Oyster Depot (http://sanfrancisco.citysearch.com/profile/885734). There's also pretty good views and okay shopping around there.

If you like owls, go to the Owl Tree.

But check the schedule, it only open like Thur - Sat I think.

The ferry terminal is also a good toursity place, especially if the weather is nice, and there's lots of overpriced boutique food there too.

is it really dumb to stay near the wharf? i know about the tourists&tacky&"dirty"¬-for-locals and gather you gotta wait forever for the cable cars, so it might not be very convenient for getting to the Mission or Berkeley, but if it's yr first time, and you wanna relax near the water, and don't care much about downtown, and you want to walk to the Presidio and other parts North?

the last time i was on the West Coast I wasn't eating red meat, but I'm definitely having one of those when I go back.

yeah, i wouldn't plan to hang out at the wharf or anything, but i think i might like to wake up there. or would rather do so there than near union square. also, i hear there's a restaurant named after Rick Danko or something there. and is Greens walkable from there?

i guess more than half of the places i might want to go are more easily-accessed from union square, though. those being primarily (and provisionally)... the presidio, (maybe) pacific heights, out on the water in some fashion, north beach, chinatown, (maybe) the ferry building, berkeley, the haight, golden gate park, the mission - would it be too much to try to do most of this in 3 full days? and are there nice residential parts i don't know about that would be worth trying to fit in?

also, wine country. i'd like to pass through if only to look at some dirt and neat rows and lavender and such, but i don't need to go there to drink the wine, and i'm not gonna taste and drive. would i really want to spend an extra night in, uh, Yountville or something?

Mission is totally safe! It was pretty gentrified in the 90s.
