Zuckerberg posted his own comment in response, explaining that he fixates on a personal challenge each year (in 2009, he wore a tie every day)

do these hats bear subcultural markers
― mookieproof, Saturday, 28 May 2011 04:10 (fifteen years ago)
omg you could be like Bartholomew Cubbins and wear a hat on top of the previous day's hat until you're wearing 365 hats. DO THAT IT WILL BE AWESOME

I'm all for the idea of being prepeared to slaughter/dress yr own meat if you're gonna eat meat. Learn its provenance, it doesnt grow on plastic trays.

I was the only member of my family who ate the pet cow when it was time to be slaughtered :/(Mum bought it for meat, but then she named it and hand fed it so I don't think her heart was ever truly in that plan)
― Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 28 May 2011 07:12 (fifteen years ago)
Once on my cousins farm we were eating wild rabbit (tasty but p tough) and my cuz decided to inform us this was the one he'd buckshot, and gutted and skinned, and went into detail while we were snacking on it. Hahah. That didn't go down too well. He got sent away from the table =)

Only in a farming family would "go to your room!" be because you talked about gutting the dinner yr eating lol.

I finally quit Facebook for good today. It was great to catch up with old school friends, I could do without the hurtful bullshit from college. I'm not an ungracious person, usually my strategy is if someone else is the problem and doesn't see it that way, then I let them have the floor.

― Deremiah Was a Bullfrog (u s steel), Monday, 6 June 2011 21:58 (fifteen years ago)
I've drastically reduced my input to FB and as a logical consequence I visit the site way less often, but i don't really see the need to "quit" FB or to delete your account, unless you see FB as some kind of hurtful addiction.
― licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Thursday, 9 June 2011 08:55 (fifteen years ago)
I wanted my privacy back, I didn't want people I didn't know tagging my face in loads of images and frankly it bored the shit out of me.

Coming up on a year now after using it quite heavily in university. Can't say that I miss it.
― Millsner, Sunday, 12 June 2011 16:59 (fifteen years ago)
I basically stay on Facebook in order to keep in touch with my family and the few friends I haven't been able to get onto Twitter yet. If they become regular users, then I'm deleting asap. Good for letting you know which fuckwits are so oblivious that they will friend request you after a) years of not speaking and/or b) huge, bitter fall-outs.
― gyac, Sunday, 12 June 2011 17:14 (fifteen years ago)
they seem to be killing their rss feeds? (which i guess makes business sense.) if this is indeed the case then i think i'll quit totally
― mookieproof, Wednesday, 15 June 2011 22:21 (fifteen years ago)
Is FB being DDOSed at the mo or something? It's been unresponsive on and off for some hours today.

― sarahel, Saturday, 18 June 2011 03:05 (fifteen years ago)
I just got a whole new rash of friends and I'm now experiencing that whole 'worlds collide' thing because I never had to manage them into lists before or hide what other ppl say and ugh...shit is getting out of hand.
― Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 18 June 2011 03:10 (fifteen years ago)
why do you care if ilxors see yourupdates
― british sb power (dayo), Saturday, 18 June 2011 03:13 (fifteen years ago)
not ilxors, lol. friends from a fan page I joined, who are kind of weird and foulmouthed and well, less normal IRL than I gave them credit for.
― Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 18 June 2011 03:25 (fifteen years ago)
I'm hiding most of them from my feed, and I've tightened up my profile as much as I can but ugh, doing the whole 'not these people but this list' 'not this list but these people' makes my head hurt.

So I come home from a bar tonight and find this:
W* B****** just checked in at Tiny Lounge and wants to check you in too.
So a guy I know was at the same bar, didn't say hi to me at all, but made me aware of it. Weird, right?

John, that's really weird. It's like he wanted a public declaration of being in the same place with you, but without all the mess of actual human interaction. Unless there's a setting that automatically attempts to check you into places where your FB friends have checked in? There is some kind of automation in the check-in feature, but I turned that off pretty quickly so I don't know the ins and outs of it.
