Surely if you had a midfield of Lucas + Gerrard + a creative playmaker you'd be fine? It's the two DMs thing that's scuppered you and Lucas's rep.

Matt DC, Friday, 20 May 2011 18:01 (fifteen years ago)

well we sort of do have that with meireles...

Gerrard's return is gonna ruin everything isn't it?

Number None, Friday, 20 May 2011 18:12 (fifteen years ago)

I think these days I would put Gerrard over on the right in place of Kuyt. Never going to happen, but this would be nice:

-----------Carrol
-------Suarez
Young--Lucas--Meireles--Gerrard
Enrique--Agger--Skrtl--Johnson
------Reina.

Last stat I promise but Friedel has gone from one of the top keepers in the league in save % (his last season with Blackburn was unreal) to third-worst, and it hasn't happened gradually. Fantastic career but any club should be wary of him at this point.

I was wondering this myself - had been tempted to pop over to a relative with an actual telly but that looks like it's not going to happen. Problem is that streams have been pretty ropey of late, raising the spectre of an afternoon with Alan Green.

I really hope Blackburn go down and Wigan stay. At least Wigan try to play attractive football. Kudos to Martinez for doing so much with so little the past few weeks. Another epic performance from the Zombie this weekend I hope.

Friedel still has that colossal wingspan one-on-one saving ability that makes him look like a match-winner, but yeah, his save % and decisiveness on crosses is failing him

last season he went the entire season without dropping any crosses, but he's been flapping and conceding daft headed goals lately

The Daily Mail's subtle Amanda Platell:

What a striker!

Ryan Giggs’ wife Stacey Cooke is normally an invisible WAG. But this week an ultra-slim Stacey turned up at the Manchester United player-of-the-year awards in a staggeringly sexy frock, showing that she’s every bit the equal of those stylish WAGs Abbey Clancy and Coleen Rooney.

Ryan’s a lucky chap indeed, so couldn’t he have tried a bit harder with that smile? I, for one, would love to read more about what a happy couple they make.
