Saw for first time last night -- not for me, I think. I would like to swear off now and remain rather fondly uninterested, but if I kept watching I think I could come to hate them, hate them all.

Laurel, Saturday, 22 September 2007 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

you guys hate the funk.

chaki, Sunday, 23 September 2007 00:14 (eighteen years ago)

i watched a full episode and laughed a good bit but srsly the only difference between these guys and Tenacious D is that they murmur.

i still love this show!
there is a special place in my heart for funk, it's true, but also a special place alongside it for the millions of local funk bands in the world who i will never go see even if i have roommates or friends in these funk bands sorry guys

rrrobyn, Sunday, 23 September 2007 01:06 (eighteen years ago)

laurel you could never hate murray! not murray!

rrrobyn, Sunday, 23 September 2007 01:07 (eighteen years ago)

I feel sorry for Murray :(

Trayce, Sunday, 23 September 2007 02:02 (eighteen years ago)

Well, it was only one episode, maybe I need to see the full range of their loveability?

Laurel, Sunday, 23 September 2007 03:08 (eighteen years ago)

WE ARE FROM THE YEAR 2000 ROBOTS WE KILL THE HUMANS WQITH ARE SMARTS!

FUUUUUCK YOU

latebloomer, Sunday, 23 September 2007 03:27 (eighteen years ago)

LOVE!

latebloomer, Sunday, 23 September 2007 03:27 (eighteen years ago)

I saw an episode on BBC4 the other day - not quite a patch on the Radio 2 series! Yet, anyway.

DavidM, Sunday, 23 September 2007 07:23 (eighteen years ago)

I need to stay away from alcohol. Forever. I feel so shitty right now.

Anyway...love this show. Watched all the episodes on demand about a week ago. It is basically "Tenacious Twee" but that works fine for me as i loved the original Tenacious D HBO show. I think FOTC have better songs, though.

Jermaine's my favorite of the two. He resembles my friend Justin (even sounds like him!), except skinny and from New Zealand.

Murray is just a great character.

latebloomer, Sunday, 23 September 2007 12:21 (eighteen years ago)

I do not find them funny at all, but I also have not watched much.

-- roxymuzak,

*cries* roxy, why you break-ah my heart? ;-)

also, theyre funny.

jhøshea, Sunday, 23 September 2007 12:45 (eighteen years ago)

Jemaine's David Bowie speaking voice is actually a note perfect James Mason.

James Redd and the Blecchs, Sunday, 23 September 2007 13:28 (eighteen years ago)

You know, that's true.

Michael White, Monday, 24 September 2007 17:07 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know why anybody would prefer the stage show to the TV program: I saw some of those on YouTube and it looks like THEY ARE LAUGHING AT THEIR OWN JOKES. Well smirking at least. A little too They Might Be Giants for me. Plus the acoustic guitars interfere with their dance moves.

James Redd and the Blecchs, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 18:18 (eighteen years ago)

what episode did you see, laurel?

kenan, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 18:20 (eighteen years ago)

(just curious, btw, i'm not going to try to convert you or anything)

kenan, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 18:20 (eighteen years ago)

laurel, the first ep i watched i felt the same way but it only took another to hook me in.

sunny successor, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 18:23 (eighteen years ago)

Oh wow I just saw Ep 1 of this and it's my new favourite programme.

Noodle Vague, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 21:02 (eighteen years ago)

The one where a woman who works in a coffee shop tells one of the boys that she's shipping out to Iraq as a sniper in order to get him to sleep with her. And it comes out that their band manager has paid for like four boxes of sawdust instead of copies of their CD b/c he did a deal with someone "under the bridge". Etc.

Laurel, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 21:09 (eighteen years ago)

I just saw it too (hurray freeview) and yeah, it's pretty good.

The songs are easily the best bits, though. That and "I'm looking for an Australian", which was during a song anyway.

Just got offed, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 21:36 (eighteen years ago)

The New Zealand posters in their manager's office were priceless.

Noodle Vague, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 21:38 (eighteen years ago)

OMG, of all the episodes to not be feeling! The big reveal on her teenage-boy infertility / blueballs technique get me laughing just vaguely thinking about it.

Not like Dave talking about seeing a puppy being born, but still

nabisco, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 21:41 (eighteen years ago)

xpost: Haha, I didn't see! The 'NZ ROCKS!!!' one was pretty good, though, so if that's the guideline...

Also great (perhaps the neatest bit) was the fact that after the first song, it DIDN'T cut back to him at the party looking lonesome, as you'd expect, but it turned out to all have happened.

galdarn it, the USA are like five episodes ahead of us

Just got offed, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 21:43 (eighteen years ago)

One of them was for Lord of the Rings, and the other one said something like "It's Great! If You Don't Expect Too Much"

Noodle Vague, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 21:46 (eighteen years ago)

Finally saw all of season 1, have been rewatching it, and I have "Foux de Fa Fa" stuck in my head all the time at the moment.

Trayce, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 22:50 (eighteen years ago)

NEW ZEALAND........COOL!

chaki, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 22:53 (eighteen years ago)

Chaki u should do a cover of "the most beautiful girl in the room" in your band =)

Trayce, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 22:55 (eighteen years ago)

Not like Dave talking about seeing a puppy being born, but still

Not to mention the 'casual Prince' scene where he explains that his sublettors think they're his parents (the t-shirt, the blouse, "I know. It's creepy! I think they do it on the computer.")

Michael White, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 22:58 (eighteen years ago)

Trayce, is that the 'part-time model' one?

Michael White, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 22:58 (eighteen years ago)

Trayce, is that the 'part-time model' one?

Yes! "You could be a part-time moodellll... or a high class prostitute". I love it.

Trayce, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 00:15 (eighteen years ago)

you're a legend, dave.

chaki, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 00:38 (eighteen years ago)

I love it when he says "the gulab jamun is to DIE FOR", like it is some kind of awesome party drug lol.

Trayce, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 01:15 (eighteen years ago)

"You could be a part-time moodellll...
"But you'll probably still have to keep your normal job."

James Redd and the Blecchs, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:10 (eighteen years ago)

I, also, watched Ep 1 this week. And spent ages trying to work out where I'd seen the American girl Jemaine was crushing on before. Thankfully, I realised.

Forest Pines Mk2, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:19 (eighteen years ago)

ok why would you post that and not say from where? god.
