just saw conor sammon scored today, great goal too.

Squillaci was poor. You'd expect more from the only man on the pitch to have played in a Champions League final.

Pienaar and Flanno barge into each other outside the box. Wasn't a pen.

We were poor though, never got going.
― territory of the magic wand (Chris), Sunday, 15 May 2011 22:50 (fifteen years ago)
Foul was just outside the box, wasn't a penalty. Still, I'd almost forgotten what it was like to win a football match so am willing to completely overlook that.

Hm, maybe Flanno did make the first move. Was outside the area though. Thanks Webb. Anyway, seeing Carroll in the flesh was... interesting. Don't know if he's still off the pace or if it's his usual running style, but he didn't half look leggy - kind of drags his feet when he runs. Still wary about him. Kuyt and Suarez have looked far more lethal and mobile as a partnership.
― territory of the magic wand (Chris), Monday, 16 May 2011 00:10 (fifteen years ago)
yeah it prob was 'borderline' outside the box tbf
carroll still miles off the pace imo, would have him at spurs (for 20m)
― Britain, the 51sb State (darraghmac), Monday, 16 May 2011 01:06 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah my knees are well and truly jerking re. Carroll I'm afraid. Think back to that left footer v City and all is well. Love that goal.

Watching utd Chelsea 94 cup final on espn classics. A few thoughts:
Fucking hell this is like Stoke v. An exciting version if Stoke. Seemingly everytime a centre mid gets the ball, they put it in the air or back to the centre halves. I wasn't expecting Barca but there just doesnt look like any creativity is afoot.
Koncheskis and Giggs cutting inside everytime, Chelsea defenders reacting like this is a sudden and new tactical innovation.
Lol untucked shirt. Cantona was such a rebel.
― popular gay automobile (a hoy hoy), Monday, 16 May 2011 09:21 (fifteen years ago)
Also lol utd players running from all over the pitch to shout at the ref for a foul.
― popular gay automobile (a hoy hoy), Monday, 16 May 2011 09:23 (fifteen years ago)
I've a mind to curate some communal old footy liveblogging if we get too bored during the close season. This would've been a decent start, if I had posh telly and wasn't at work. And it was close season.
― Ismael Klata, Monday, 16 May 2011 09:31 (fifteen years ago)
english football still fairly agricultural as of 94 iirc, tho utd were on the turn about then
― Britain, the 51sb State (darraghmac), Monday, 16 May 2011 11:36 (fifteen years ago)
1994 was Hoddle's Chelsea iirc so they ought to have been evolving too. Was he himself playing, and/or had Gullit signed by then?
― Ismael Klata, Monday, 16 May 2011 11:40 (fifteen years ago)
think he was playing sparingly, dont think gullit signed til end of that season
― Britain, the 51sb State (darraghmac), Monday, 16 May 2011 11:43 (fifteen years ago)
Hoddle was one of the three available subs as player manager.

Sanchez is a very exciting player but he's really not what Utd need at all.
