We have to bring treats back from holidays too at work, but since I've not been on holiday in nearly three years (I brought back turkish delight from Istanbul, but it wasn't proper Turkish Delight like Fry's, they'd taken the chocolate off and covered it with powdery stuff!) it's not much of a problem. I got some CDs and comics, mainly (I was just playing the tATu album), plus a balloon snail (best balloon animal I've ever seen, for what that praise is worth) with 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARTIN' written on the side.

Remembering Martin today.
― Lil' Brexit (Tracer Hand), Saturday, 8 June 2019 17:25 (seven years ago)
Was thinking about him the other week.
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 8 June 2019 17:27 (seven years ago)
Was reading and chuckling at some early Krazy Kat Sundays earlier - the introduction to which I have him to thank for.

Martin's birthday. Still missing him. Can hear his voice in my head right now.

That voice, by the way, can be found here:

― Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 8 June 2022 13:28 (four years ago)
Oh I'm glad that recording is still in circulation.
For all the time I knew Martin, I wasn't really into Science Fiction, so rarely talked with him about it. But I was lucky enough to inherit part of his SF book collection, and in the years since his death have made good progress reading those, plus lots more SF. And almost always, I wish I could talk to Martin about what I've just read. That's just one of the many things I miss.
― Ward Fowler, Wednesday, 8 June 2022 14:12 (four years ago)
Truly a good fellow. Grateful to have stayed with him that one time, and truly a remarkable collection of many things he had, an ultimate library.
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 8 June 2022 16:17 (four years ago)
Thinking of Martin today.

likewise
― mark s, Saturday, 8 June 2024 09:56 (two years ago)
Still seeing his doughty smile, his wise gruff self deprecation. His vast hinterland of polygamous orgies and science fiction and japanese art.

There’s a big old school comics fan meet-up at the next London Comic Mart in a couple of weeks where I’m sure a glass and a toast will be raised in Martin’s memory - he is always missed.
