I just put my Gatorade G2 in the freezer so it will still be cold when I finish this afternoon's run. By six when I head out, it should be overcast with stifling humidity, about 88-90 degrees. Going to attempt five miles at a 10-minute pace. Will probably lose about four pounds just from sweating.

tbh i have not been satisfied with most of the running i've done since i moved here. i know i need to suck it up but i just hate this environment! that one great day at great falls a few months ago was probably the best i've done, but nothing like how i felt on the other coast :(

Training for a trail half-marathon on June 5. Having been doing a weekly 10-miler mixed with 3-4 mile runs in between for past month or so. Will do a full 13 next week then take it easy until race day. Shooting for 8:20 pace on race day finishing in one piece is a bigger priority. Heel spur is painful but icing it every night helps alot. Pollen in DC is almost more bothersome - snot rockets galore!

that is my good. decent hilly running in elysian park, though i've never done that. if you go anywhere near here, check the dodgers schedule because a home game will make this area a total mess for hours.
the silverlake reservoir is a decent, mostly-flat loop that is like 2.2mi? nice view, especially during sunset and a lot of people around.
i run the la river path, usually in a loop from atwater village to burbank. it's long and flat and usually pretty empty on a week day. the river is low though, and it runs along the freeways, so the breathing is not the best.
griffith park is very close too and you can find some great hill runs and climbs there if your knees can handle it. mine can't. very scenic though and you can run over to the hollywood sign and the observatory. the east side faces the 5 freeway though, so the air quality is not awesome.
the running and air are pretty good out by the beach, if you can get out there. i've hiked topanga canyon and really want to run it once my legs heal.

I hate running I really do, but for health's sake I managed to get up to doing 8km nearly everyday till I hurt my tendon after a run in the UK.
Have not run a step now for about 6 months, I am now about to go and start it up again.
Dreading it, have been eating and drinking like a pig since I hurt my ankle. I will be starting from scratch. still I had better get up and see how it goes.

So I was running today and out of nowhere comes this intense throbbing pain in my liver and right rib cage. I stop running and start panicking, thinking about all the binge drinking I've done and hep-c risk behavior I've engaged in... Then I get and and internet-diagnose like anyone would, and lol I totally forgot about Side Stitches. Haven't had them for years.

When I was starting out a few months ago, I put myself through the Couch to 5k programme (http://www.c25k.com/), which is a gradual build up of running and walking intervals to get your strength and stamina up enough for a 5k constant run. I heartily endorse it, and am now running upwards of 20km most weeks (not all in one go, I hasten to add).
And get a decent pair of trainers.

I've been looking at that site but from the couple or so runs I've gone on lately, I think I'm already just about at the 5k mark. Is there a 5k to 10k one? Also, while looking at it, there's one thing that interests me. they keep mentioning stuff like "run for a certain distance then jog slowly for the same distance". Is this to make it easier to get into running or does it have another purpose?
As for the decent pair of trainers, are there important things to look for when buying them? Right now I'm running with a very basic pair of shoes.

and i'm not at around the same point as scotsvo, running either 2 miles or four each day (depending on how much free time i have) with maybe two days off in the week. i'm feeling much better than i did at the beginning of the year, physically and psychologically.
