fuck the douchenozzle SUV driver. doesn't seem like a big deal that you left a ding, though of course the BMW guy will think differently.

xp OTM about jaymc :)

JuliaA, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:17 (sixteen years ago) link

I have to go soon to mentor a dude for a few hours, but I'll check back later for updates on my new ski bros.

Jordan, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:17 (sixteen years ago) link

1. jenny, i'm on a constant search for 'cute comfortable' shoes, but also think i may try to learn to wear slightly less comfy shoes so i can wear things i love but currently only can use as sculpture.

I have accepted my lot in life and pretty much just wear Dansko clogs, but I'm old and ornery.

2. Sorry Evan. I am all for other people engaging in winter sports, though!

3. Does that make me an asshole?

A little bit?

4. CPA blood pact = LOL

Jenny, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:18 (sixteen years ago) link

This could be Peter, although he's not a CPA and didn't go to school with Howard. (Which might then reinforce my hypothesis that they went to high school together instead.) He's a business broker.

jaymc, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:21 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh wait, that is almost assuredly Peter:

jaymc, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Right. So the general consensus is that this douchebag was in the right to park so I couldn't get in my car. Fuck rich people.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:23 (sixteen years ago) link

No one said that jvc

river wolf, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Another nice Jewish boy.

Jordan, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:24 (sixteen years ago) link

That's a nice blur around the edges of that photo.

Actually, Jon, the consensus seems to be that you were in the right to ding his car. I was the only one who suggested that it would have been less assholeish to, if possible, not put a dent in the rich jerks door.

Jenny, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:25 (sixteen years ago) link

It was defnitely a ding, I don't think it could be classified as a "dent". Hell, I didn't look close, it could have been something you could have rubbed away.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:26 (sixteen years ago) link

Okay.

Jenny, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:28 (sixteen years ago) link

jvc describes one of the exact reasons I have a POS car

Plane on Sex?

jaymc, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:29 (sixteen years ago) link

i probably would have left a note expressing remorse for dinging the door, but also letting the guy know that he's a dick and that, you know, wasn't the whole point of parking diagonally to REDUCE the chance of getting dinged?? Now look where it got you, asshole! Park like a normal guy!

river wolf, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:29 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, next time I'll just sit patiently and wait from him to come out and move his car. Christ. I can't believe the shit I'm getting from fiancee for this.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:30 (sixteen years ago) link

jvc pretty succinctly describes the parking anarchy (or "parkarchy" as I like to call it) that invades the teeny tiny little lot we get here. It is also the commuter student's lot and the parking area for a number of U shuttle buses. So it gets pretty crowded. People are constantly taking up 1.5 spots and subjecting each other to door dings. This is why, when I do end up driving to work, I always park the part of my car where the previous owner was sideswiped up against where the driver of the assholishly-parked car will be opening their door. Plus my car is tiny so I can sneak into most of the smallest spots around. I kind of love it because I don't care about my car's appearance at all as long as parts aren't hanging off.

xp: Piece Of Shit

dan m, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:31 (sixteen years ago) link

maybe we should all plan a ski trip and book the condo next to those dudes. but can we do that using their credit cards?

colette, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:32 (sixteen years ago) link

I'd like to see Howard consolidate that debt.

jaymc, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:34 (sixteen years ago) link

If I don't have any more e-mails from them by 4:30 I'm going to ask where my ticket is and who I'm bunking with.

Jordan, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:34 (sixteen years ago) link

xxpost ugh, no. I don't want to end up mistaken for pussy.

kenan, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:34 (sixteen years ago) link

so that's why people become accountants, eh? this is the payoff?

La Lechera, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:35 (sixteen years ago) link

I want to know who they're confusing you for.

jordan10 AT gmail runs an Italian Star Wars fan club.

jaymc, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:36 (sixteen years ago) link

That might make you a little bit of an asshole, but I've done it too, so we're at least in a class together. Not that that should make you feel better.

Jesse, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Who doesn't run an Italian Star Wars fan culb?

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:36 (sixteen years ago) link

wait did you guys not know what POS car meant??? or is this just a question I shouldn't bother asking

river wolf, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:37 (sixteen years ago) link

I'd never heard that, but I figured it out pretty quickly. I only said "Plane on Sex" to call back to the posts earlier about what "SOP" meant.

jaymc, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:39 (sixteen years ago) link

oh right, i missed that

river wolf, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:40 (sixteen years ago) link

I hate people who double park. HATE.

Something good:
I convinced my boss to donate a ton of old computers thanks to a link provided by.. colette I think?

Something weird:
My coworker coming up to my desk, bouncing her boobs up and down with her hands, asking if I'd noticed how huge they are today.

KitCat, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:40 (sixteen years ago) link

It's a point of sale car! har har i've worked in retail.

Yeah, I knew what Dan meant by POS car because I have one.

My stomach is a bottomless pit today. Maybe I should bounce it in front of Sarah's desk.

La Lechera, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:42 (sixteen years ago) link

You should have said, "Actually I was thinking you looked a little flatter than usual".

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:42 (sixteen years ago) link

is she like pregnant or something?

river wolf, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:44 (sixteen years ago) link

I hope you said yes.

Jenny, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:44 (sixteen years ago) link

"OMG! You have the BEST BOOBS! I STARE AT THEM ALL THE TIME! Of COURSE I noticed!"

Sunday after Cozycornering, Nick and I were walking back to the car, and when I first saw it, I thought it wasn't our car. It's in such bad shape. :-( It IS 12 years old, and we have lugged a ton of crap in it over the years...

KitCat, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:45 (sixteen years ago) link

You know, she totally could be preggers. She went off the pill a couple months ago.

KitCat, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:46 (sixteen years ago) link

Any car that lasts 12 years in this day and age is a good fucking car.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:46 (sixteen years ago) link

Other cars that have double parked near Jon:

dan m, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:47 (sixteen years ago) link

Those are actually cars that have double parked near Jesse. And Jesse doesn't even HAVE a car!!!

Jenny, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:48 (sixteen years ago) link

Haha, that's too funny to be mad at.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:48 (sixteen years ago) link

This link is mostly for Nick but it is an interesting discussion about the gear used to record the latest National album:

dan m, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:48 (sixteen years ago) link

if you're driving in the city, isn't it pretty much a given when you're doing public parking that you'll get a little ding once in a while? the odds are even more if you park like an asshole. xp not that bad!

i've only double parked once, blocking the person who was in the handicapped space without a permit so i could run in and out of blockbuster. i didn't feel too bad about it.

bahaha about your coworker's boobs. that's just...odd.

JuliaA, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:49 (sixteen years ago) link

My poor car has so, so, so many dings and dents from people hitting it while parallel parking. I've had both tailights knocked out at one point or another.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:49 (sixteen years ago) link

Holy shit, massive storm rolling through here. Tons of wind, lots of lightning.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:51 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, when we sold our car it was looking rough, and it was just five or six years old.

ooo storm!

Jenny, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:52 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, my back bumper is so scraped up, it's ridiculous. I mean, half of the damage is probably my fault, but Julia's right: that's sort of what I expect when I live and drive in Chicago.

jaymc, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:52 (sixteen years ago) link

jesse what's wrong with your flickr? It looks fine to me.

kenan, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 19:54 (sixteen years ago) link
