Wait - Milner went to City?
― Que sera sera... (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Friday, 6 May 2011 13:23 (fifteen years ago)
you must be thinking of Sturridge
― Ismael Klata, Friday, 6 May 2011 13:27 (fifteen years ago)
Keeps playing those lovely through balls for Sturridge iirc.
bah xp
― abbottabadass (onimo), Friday, 6 May 2011 13:27 (fifteen years ago)
milner was surprisngly good in one of the recent england friendlies iirc. kinda thought he might fit in at right back for city eventually.
also i completely and utterly forgot jerome boateng was there until he was linked with bayern the other week
― r|t|c, Friday, 6 May 2011 13:31 (fifteen years ago)
Hasn't Boateng just been injured for an entire season? The Premiership isn't a happy place for Boatengs really.
― Matt DC, Friday, 6 May 2011 13:33 (fifteen years ago)
johnson is very effective, for an english winger, but prob better on the right.
I rate both he and milner, tbf, but milner wouldn't replace bale and tbh modric sandro lennon prob all keep him out of our midfield in the other positions
He'd be a p good gerrard replacement?
― socks & pwns may break my bwns (darraghmac), Friday, 6 May 2011 13:33 (fifteen years ago)
unless sandro comes on leaps and bounds next season i still think ur missing something in there with just him, thudd and modders
not quite sure what though
― r|t|c, Friday, 6 May 2011 13:38 (fifteen years ago)
keeper, 2 strikers, maybe tidy up the cb situation with a young kjaer investment type, & something different in centre mid - maybe a driving player like milner wouldnt be so bad actually
― r|t|c, Friday, 6 May 2011 13:42 (fifteen years ago)
xp add pace on the wings and one fwd who can hold up and score and i dunno looks good to me.
442 with modric on left and vdv in a striking role works too tho, if bale goes
― socks & pwns may break my bwns (darraghmac), Friday, 6 May 2011 13:45 (fifteen years ago)
Also I'm sorta thinking that Bale has been waiting for an approach from one of the great clubs of Europe and not Man City, but maybe the massive piles of cash will make him feel better.
― Matt DC, Friday, 6 May 2011 13:45 (fifteen years ago)
makes everyone feel better tbf
Swap bale for kolarov plus 30m
― socks & pwns may break my bwns (darraghmac), Friday, 6 May 2011 13:47 (fifteen years ago)
I'd be happy to play for City for 2 or 3 weeks, tbh
― Que sera sera... (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Friday, 6 May 2011 13:48 (fifteen years ago)
Kolarov was a member of the late warlord Arkan's personal dogkilling unit [3].

Nice Roy. Just reminded Sky how long he's been in the job for. Weekly event kind of thing now. 36 years. I'm not bitter. It's just become a bit of a running joke. 36 years.

it is a fact, tbf

I think Johnson is fantastic, so creative. And to be achieving at City is tough as well...

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2011/may/06/joy-of-six-manchester-united-chelsea
Not what I wanted to hear before tomorrow (I knew the record was bad, but not this bad):For such a domineering football club, United's home league record against Chelsea is nothing short of appalling. In the modern Premier League era, United have won six, drawn seven and lost five against the Blues. Now your super soaraway Joy of Six doesn't usually make the distinction between the top division pre and post 1992, but this time we make an exception because Chelsea's good record at Old Trafford is seen as something of a modern phenomenon. But look at what happened between the two clubs there before the Premier League, all the way back a quarter of a century to the 1966-67 season: United wins: one. Draws: eight. Chelsea wins: eight.

According to this morning's Guardian, the foul-mouthed old red-nosed drunk in charge of Man Utd is going to loan Howard Webb some youth players during the next season.
― James Mitchell, Saturday, 7 May 2011 09:22 (fifteen years ago)
speaking of his hope that "it's our turn for a little bit of luck" from the officials.
As part of the FA's Respect campaign, managers are not supposed to discuss referees in the buildup to games
I guess the FA will be reprimanding him then
― bell hops (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 May 2011 09:50 (fifteen years ago)
is that a ferguson quote? Cos if 'luck' works on a turn-by-turn basis i can think of every other football team i've ever seen that would be in line first
― socks & pwns may break my bwns (darraghmac), Saturday, 7 May 2011 09:59 (fifteen years ago)
yeah, Ferguson welcoming the appointment of Howard Busby Charlton Jimmy Fucking Greenhoff Webb

is clattenberg still reffing? Cos if so fergie's been hard done by tbh
― socks & pwns may break my bwns (darraghmac), Saturday, 7 May 2011 10:03 (fifteen years ago)
Webb has awarded United a penalty in three of the past four games he has officiated at Old Trafford and Ferguson made a point of talking up the Yorkshireman. "He's definitely the best referee in the country, there's no doubt about that. We are getting the best referee and we hope it's our turn for a little bit of luck."
Does Webb have an agent?
― bell hops (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 May 2011 10:05 (fifteen years ago)
which three penos, and more importantly what did he deny the other team
If i had a football programme this is the analysis would get focus, fuck a soggy moustachied lawro
― socks & pwns may break my bwns (darraghmac), Saturday, 7 May 2011 10:09 (fifteen years ago)
we get cheated by refs every week, i don't think my programme would last v. long
― bell hops (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 May 2011 10:12 (fifteen years ago)

― socks & pwns may break my bwns (darraghmac), Saturday, 7 May 2011 10:14 (fifteen years ago)
Much as reading this drivel pains me, the psychology at least is interesting. What does Ferguson hope to achieve here? If there's a borderline penalty call on a Utd attack tomorrow, how can Webb possibly give it after this?
― Ismael Klata, Saturday, 7 May 2011 11:06 (fifteen years ago)
Sir Alex will have seen his praise for Webb as well justified in light of the decisions which Webb will have given during the game which will have tended to have favoured the home team. But one thing is certain: he will have tried to have gotten under the skins of the collective Chelsea carapace.
― bell hops (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 May 2011 11:10 (fifteen years ago)
...the psychology at least is interesting. What does Ferguson hope to achieve here?
I think his supposed jedi mind tricks skills are somewhat overrated. His thinking might just be "We got shafted by dodgy calls in both league games against Chelsea last season - I'll draw the ref's attention to that so it doesn't happen again" and somehow he's overlooked the fact that Webb already has a reputation for giving calls to United (and that he's just served a record touchline ban for comments about referees) and it's just going to be counterproductive.
― Que sera sera... (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Saturday, 7 May 2011 11:19 (fifteen years ago)
yeah, i'm thinkin that it's for the benefit of chelsea's collective paranoia - think steve collins' hypnosis tape before the eubank fight
Besides, the 'top' refs have never needed encouragement to favour utd
― socks & pwns may break my bwns (darraghmac), Saturday, 7 May 2011 11:21 (fifteen years ago)
Darragh - you could just change your username to "the refs all favour United and Spurs are so hard done by" and then you'd only need to post once a day.
― Que sera sera... (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Saturday, 7 May 2011 11:23 (fifteen years ago)
spurs aren't partic hard done by, it's just that utd and chelsea are partic favoured
Utd wouldn't be near top now were it not for ref decisions favouring them.
