what the hell is a super injunction?
― Stone Colde Sylke Freek (forksclovetofu), Monday, 9 May 2011 00:24 (fifteen years ago)
is it british for restraining order?
― Stone Colde Sylke Freek (forksclovetofu), Monday, 9 May 2011 00:25 (fifteen years ago)
It means the press can't even mention that there is an injunction in place (I think), the rationale being (I think) that if you are, say a footballer having a fling with some minor celeb and said footballer puts gets an injunction against newspapers saying that, the mere fact of the injunction might imply guilt in some places? Typing it out now that doesn't seem right, maybe someone else can explain it better?

my first assumption is that the people behind @injunctionsuper are just bored students making shit up - i mean why on earth would anyone believe them?
as jemima khan has pointed out, the proof she hasn't got a superinjunction is that she's actually being named everywhere.
― lex pretend, Monday, 9 May 2011 09:21 (fifteen years ago)
she's volunteered the 'information' tho
― Romford Spring (DG), Monday, 9 May 2011 09:24 (fifteen years ago)
xp at least some of the ones @injunctionsuper mentions are true though. and i'd have thought that papers could report her denial even if an injunction was in place - she'd have effectively trashed it herself.
i was opposed to superinjunctions but if they're keeping naked photos of jeremy clarkson out of the papers, i can see their uses.
― joe, Monday, 9 May 2011 09:25 (fifteen years ago)
I'd like to know who is taking out superinjuctions, then when the 'truth' comes to light I won't care at all.

Why do the 'famous professional footballer' and his legal team think a US-based company with a US-based server has any obligation to comply with their wishes?
― delivers maximum wtf per cubic second (suzy), Saturday, 21 May 2011 14:09 (fifteen years ago)
Surely his legal team are just doing to him what he was (allegedly) doing to that woman from Big Brother. I mean I presume they get paid whether or not this works or not?

I guess they make lots of money and if they happen to successfully overturn the US constitution that's kind of a bonus feather in their cap

been trying twitter for the first time these last two weeks. i set it up to tweet the E3 convention last week. I've since realised that nobody can really see my tweets unless they are following me.
Thus my audience of 1 person was most certainly overloaded with my news of nintendo, sony and xbox and i suspect additionally irritated by my constant moaning about motion controllers and crap game sequels. This i found both hilarious and sad at the same time.
following celebs I've yet to comprehend a use for. fun at first, but none of them have anything vastly exciting to tell us. Do people reply to them?
It's very useful for following news and community type functions, although still wading through who and what is out there.

But if you were tweeting the convention using a commonly used hashtag, then your audience would have been more than one; it's quite common for people to keep a hashtag stream open.
