Had a weird dream last night where i was on the set of a film being directed by James Cameron, i got invited into his trailer and i said "there's a thread on the internet about teal & orange, what do you think about all films looking like this?" He had some massive rant about how much work goes into the colouring of a film, got really angry at everyone. Then i woke up.

I did have cheese on toast before i went to sleep, maybe that had something to do with it?

Errr stan - there is neither teal nor orange in that Carpenter working on the Hoover Dam, June 1942 as far as I can tell unless the colors are way off base on this monitor.

No, you're right, those colors weren't invented yet. These are their predecessors.
(I though the contrast was vv similar, even though not really teal or orange.)

It's like Hollywood lost their colouring set and only had these two colours left out on the floor.

"You'll just have to use them 'til they run out and we'll get you another set" said someone in charge.

watched stuart gordon's dagon for like the 30th time last night, probably because it is my favorite movie by anyone ever (except for poor fernando rabal face-skinning, can't watch that). otherworldly T&O levels, contrasts udreamt by human film. <3

Every time I see an establishing shot from CSI:Miami I think of this thread. That is the tealest, orangest show ever.

I figured out what that pic from yesterday is

Camel Thorn Trees, Namibia

Tinted orange by the morning sun, a soaring dune is the backdrop for the hulks of camel thorn trees in Namib-Naukluft Park.

Even knowing that I'm still having a hard trouble seeing the background as real/a dune. It's like some Magic Eye level optical trickery or something.

Ahhh I can see it now! TY! Because of the angle/lighting, I thought PP's were something similar but different until just now.

The picture that TamTam posted was the one that first caught my eye in the new issue of National Geographic. It's really stunning. National Geographic is total photography porn, every single issue. (Although the last issue with all the super-macro pictures of bugs gave me the leapin' willies.)

Recently finished the entire Sopranos box set and was most shocked and saddened to see things go very T&O about 75% of the way through the final season.

Is this some sort of social networking thing I don't know about

Saw a really bad SF/semihorror movie called _Splice_ today. 70% of the movie was in teal, with one or two details in most scenes in bright orange.
This thread has improved my life, for it gave me something to have fun with while watching that wretched film.
