They just recaptioned a Mod Squad promotional poster, didn't they?

I like how the Trail of Tears is a "controversy" like there is a legit argument for killing 4,000 people.

k I've been staring at that cartoon for fully two minutes and I have nfi what point it is making
― it always seems to have dick smith in it (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 29 April 2011 21:37 (fifteen years ago)
I was thinking the same thing.
― EZ Snappin, Friday, 29 April 2011 21:37 (fifteen years ago)
I don't know who the guy with the red hair is, I don't know why he's holding an interoffice envelope, I don't know why obama is stealing an xbox
― it always seems to have dick smith in it (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 29 April 2011 21:39 (fifteen years ago)
Obama's tax hikes (that don't exist) or spending sprees (that haven't happened) are like taking your hard-earned home electronics from your living room in the dead of night - (remember - TAXES ARE THEFT!) but he's mollifying you with his real long-form birth certificate, presented by his stooge Conan O'Brien.
But uh... yeah, portraying our African-American president as a burglar of televisions certainly isn't racist at all...
― No pop, no style -- all simply (Viceroy), Friday, 29 April 2011 21:43 (fifteen years ago)
I think the dude with the red hair is from that Bill Watterson painting.
― EZ Snappin, Friday, 29 April 2011 21:44 (fifteen years ago)
so obama has turned up at their house with Mark Zuckerburg Conan O'Brien, smashed everything, stolen some electronics, asked Mark Conan to produce a fake birth certificate from an interoffice envelope

the x-box is obviously modded and is that poor family's media center. The spent $200 about 7 years ago and damned if their going to buy a 3rd gen console... how can they with all their income going to socialist taxes?

It also elides the fact that conceivably the majority of Mr and Mrs America there voted for the burgler.
― Concatenated without abruption (Michael White), Friday, 29 April 2011 22:10 (fifteen years ago)
What do the demands for his birth certificate have to do with the displeasure with his management of money or taxes?
― Wacky Way Lounge (Evan), Friday, 29 April 2011 22:16 (fifteen years ago)
Like as if he gave them that instead of what they were REALLY asking for.
― Wacky Way Lounge (Evan), Friday, 29 April 2011 22:17 (fifteen years ago)
The right-wing narrative is now that they were neither birthers nor pandering to them and their "distractions".
― Concatenated without abruption (Michael White), Friday, 29 April 2011 22:17 (fifteen years ago)

― it always seems to have dick smith in it (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 29 April 2011 22:25 (fifteen years ago)
(to the cartoon as a whole, not to the ginger revisionism)
i think the lil redhead is supposed to be obama's accomplice, so either the press or 'liberals'
― goole, Friday, 29 April 2011 22:26 (fifteen years ago)
Wtf is he supposed to be then? I don't know why I bother. The cartoon is obtuse and not even remotely funny nor insightful.
― Concatenated without abruption (Michael White), Friday, 29 April 2011 22:26 (fifteen years ago)
or just a dramatic contrivance -- you can't very well make obama a housebreaker with his hands full, and have him hand the couple the certificate himself! that just wouldn't make any sense.
― goole, Friday, 29 April 2011 22:27 (fifteen years ago)
i think the point is if the guy is wrecking your house and taking your shit, if he's a natural born us citizen it doesn't much matter. the cartoon is from the 'obama loves the birther distraction' school.
― goole, Friday, 29 April 2011 22:28 (fifteen years ago)
That would require a dexterity Mr. Lester doesn't wish to convey. Obama and his accomplice seem like pretty shoddy burglers imho.

Friend of mine made these points:
- the fat couple represents the US- Obama is ransacking their house, i.e. the US- the jar of money represents US liquid assets- the birth certificate arrived via internal mail (the ginge dude is just some dude)
i.e. there's a ~metaphor~ at work here, however batshit it is
― it always seems to have dick smith in it (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 30 April 2011 07:43 (fifteen years ago)
Certificate clearly came out of the envelope. He is just there, as stated above, to be a way to have the certificate handed to the couple so Obama can have his hands full. Forgetting to make him based on anybody real is the most idiotic mistake- how hard would that have been?
― Wacky Way Lounge (Evan), Saturday, 30 April 2011 15:45 (fifteen years ago)
i'm guessing that guy started out as robin to obama's batman, then the artist remembered batman wasn't a burglar but left the little guy in anyway

I presume the point is 'who cares where you were born (we certainly never), we only cared about you tax-theft. How dare you use the document we've been winging about for your entire presidency to distract us from you communism'. As for the ginger guy, no idea. As a ginger guy myself I'll put it down to the same kind of prejudice that made Judas and other 'villains' red-headed. :(
