Foreman and Chase are the most stale characters on the show. It's nice that they are trying to attach them to humorous plotlines but I don't think they will ever be less stale. That being said I can't even remember what sort of plotlines they were involved with in the first 2-3 seasons

I think that either there's a television music rut or there was a fire sale on using that song! It was on Californication three or four times, too.

"You Can't Always Get What You Want" was referenced in the pilot, so i think they're deliberately working it as a recurring theme. it really is one of those songs that's just been soundtracked to death in TV and movies, though.

I like Cuddy on the show, but they ruined the character this season (to the point of me dropping the show until she and House were done dating) and I'm not surprised she wants to leave.

the writing has been on the wall for a while (since Laurie's contract ends next year too). the best we can hope for is that the show goes out with a bang next year.

i am not being ironical, i want more shows about successful people who are miserable, like on this one. only maybe not so much like this season. although turning foreman and taub into losers is pretty good.

I think the thing is, when house does well at "successful miserable people," it does it by avoiding sappy "oh how poignant" HERE COMES THE MUSIC DADAAA moments

when house doesn't avoid that, its saving grace is the cast, mainly laurie

as time goes on, avoiding that sort of syrupy LOOK AT THESE SADDOES teevee bullshit becomes more difficult because after a while the whole cast of sociopathic characters who aren't genuine sociopaths (just fucked up one way or another, right) becomes harder and harder to believe or care about - eventually, enough humanity leaks in that you start writing any other hospital soap opera, and it stops being house.

I'm just hoping they manage to quit while they're still ahead and don't drag it out - however, the amount of sucking they would have to do to make me stop watching is a lot more than they've done so far (cf laurie comment above), and whatever replaces it is inevitably going to be worthless garbage in comparison.

I really think the piece with Talb getting irrationally concerned about the stripper's mole was realistic. People really do project their fears and concerns on to random stuff like that.

i'm just hoping that the writers don't have some asinine belief that the most challenging and artistically fulfilling thing for them to try to do is to bring it all home in the end and show that HE REALLY DOES CARE, HAPPINESS IS WITHIN REACH, etc.
