haha that reminds me of what happened over the weekend

since the campus closed my students and I had to move to the public park to have a consultation

during the consultation one of them is freaking out, I ask her friend what's up, and she says there's a bird that's freaking her out

it's just a normal bird, but it's got this gnarly polka dot pattern thing on its neck that kinda 'shimmers' when its head moves

the student tells me she's really afraid of holes that are too close together

she tells me, "imagine if there were insects living inside those holes!!"

I was like, high five

anyways I don't think the fear of isolated, normal holes really qualifies as trypophobia. clusters are a key part of this.

I have trypophobia and I want all of you to know about it!
I am trying to get rid of this phobia by:
Stage 1: Admit that I have a problem.
Stage 2: Face my fears by making as many holes and dots as I can and record+study my reactions and experiences that take place during each experiment.
Stage 3: Cure myself by being around holes and dots all the time, i.e. make dots on my underwear and buy polkadotted bed sheets that way any time of day or night I will be in direct contact with my fears. According to a lot of scientific studies this way of therapy is very effective in curing phobias (I'd know that because I majored in psychology for 2 years prior to switching to graphic design).
