Arsenal fans with one less thing to be smug about it, poor dears
― Tom D (Tom D.), Monday, 11 April 2011 08:16 (fifteen years ago)
Could well be nothing more than a frustrated fan tbh. Expect to see the likes of diaby and almunia out before long

Hope he has the sense to get Pep in and not Bob Bradley.

Is the Guardian worse than it used to be?
― James Mitchell, Monday, 11 April 2011 09:24 (fifteen years ago)
Think Charlie Adam will go to Man United, not Liverpool - strikes me as the kind of player Fergie loves. There's a wishful thinking as it might stop them trying to sign Modric (and in fairness Adam would be available at about a quarter of the price).
Going back to the Pinefox/Darraghmac discussion upthread, Modric is the one player who really shouldn't be sold at any price, we'd have to totally rework the team. If we get silly money from Bale and invest it in a couple of reliable strikers I'll... still be upset, but not as much.
I'm not sure how much Kroenke would actually change at Arsenal? I can still see a Prem club, especially one like Arsenal, being a good investment. There's bound to be an internet rights bonanza at some point.
― Matt DC, Monday, 11 April 2011 09:43 (fifteen years ago)
The fact that Kroenke already owns 100% of Arsenal Broadband would seem to back up that final point.
― Matt DC, Monday, 11 April 2011 09:45 (fifteen years ago)
Always find it hard to believe Charlie Adam is that good, I saw him when he was a Rangers. Also, he can't get in to the Scotland team!
― Tom D (Tom D.), Monday, 11 April 2011 09:45 (fifteen years ago)
How would an internet rights bonanza work though? It's been mooted for a few years now and I'm no closer to understanding - exclusive HQ streaming (iirc Dan uses this for mls) is all I can think of, but I'm not persuaded that'd do better than the current tv deals.
A proper European league is the end point here I think, as it's the one guaranteed way to raise the earning power of the game. Arsenal don't necessarily need it in order to be a good investment (depending on price obviously) but I suspect most other clubs would.
― Ismael Klata, Monday, 11 April 2011 09:50 (fifteen years ago)
Also, he can't get in to the Scotland team!
He can now. Was going to say he was useless in the last game I saw him in, then remembered it was against Brazil, so that's OK. Except you should still be able to deliver a decent corner against Brazil, you'd think. But now.

No, even.
11. The Option AgreementPursuant to the terms of the Option Agreement, DF Nominees has granted to KSE a call option (the "Call Option") to purchase all the Arsenal Shares held by DF Nominees (the "Option Shares"), and KSE has granted to DF Nominees a put option (the "Put Option", and, together with the Call Option, the "Options") to sell, and to require KSE to acquire, the Option Shares. The Call Option would be exercisable within twenty business days following the death of Mr Fiszman, and if such call option is not exercised within the prescribed period, such call option will lapse. The Put Option is exercisable within twenty days of the lapse of the Call Option, and will lapse if not exercised within the prescribed period. The purchase price of each of the Option Shares, under both the Call Option and the Put Option, is £11,750. Mr Kroenke has guaranteed the obligations of KSE, and Mr Fiszman has guaranteed the obligations of DF Nominees, in each case under the Option Agreement.
― James Mitchell, Monday, 11 April 2011 09:58 (fifteen years ago)
my abiding memory of Charlie Adam at Rangers was his odd ability to score with rubbishly taken free kicks. He seems to be a wee bit better now.
― Antoine Bugleboy (Merdeyeux), Monday, 11 April 2011 10:28 (fifteen years ago)
I'm really looking forward to tonight's game. Terrible as the season has been, City are the only team whom I've felt wiped the floor with Liverpool and there was nothing to be done about it (maybe United in the cup). Will be an interesting marker of progress.
― Ismael Klata, Monday, 11 April 2011 13:19 (fifteen years ago)
Think City will win tonight but fancy us to get something from the Arsenal game for some reason. With our injuries at the back will be interesting to see if Mancini really goes for the game even though they're away.

i am really enjoying this game. liverpool are... fluid!

It was hit as soon as it hit Carroll from about 30 yards.

Basically if someone spends £35m on you, that is the goal you want to be your first.

Mancini is such a shitty manager. City's tactics tonight, especially now Tevez is gone seem to be "...Eh?"
― popular gay automobile (a hoy hoy), Monday, 11 April 2011 19:35 (fifteen years ago)
lovely
liverpool playing really well
― vampire weeknd (cozen), Monday, 11 April 2011 19:36 (fifteen years ago)

Excellent. Now I'm really looking forward to seeing what Torres has in store for tomorrow night.
― Ismael Klata, Monday, 11 April 2011 19:39 (fifteen years ago)
Can see him going to Sheikh Monsiour, Sheikh asking what's wrong and Mancini asking if he can buy a Calciopoli, Sheikh being all "Who he play for?"
lmao 3-0.

spurs nailed on for 6th next season
― vampire weeknd (cozen), Monday, 11 April 2011 19:42 (fifteen years ago)
Kuyt scored, I missed it as I went for a wee. Carroll then scored a beautiful reverse header (by which I mean he was facing one way, with a defender at his back, and flicked it to the far post corner over the top of Joe Hart).
― popular gay automobile (a hoy hoy), Monday, 11 April 2011 19:42 (fifteen years ago)
kuyts goals a cracker... pushed it into the net from 16 yds out

Half-time snapshot from Phil McNulty at Anfield: "Liverpool in complete command and Manchester City in complete disarray. Liverpool have been all over City like a rash while Roberto Mancini's side have barely raised a gallop. And Carlos Tevez has added injury to the insult of City's first half display."
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 11 April 2011 19:53 (fifteen years ago)
Flanagan looks tidy at RB and Spearing is playing ok, despite a couple of sloppy touches. What with Kelly and Coady, looks like we could have a 50% scouse team in a couple of years.
― Stevie T, Monday, 11 April 2011 19:54 (fifteen years ago)

Just seen the goals. What a hit for the first, but the third is the most exciting, yeah - there's nothing anyone can do about a guy like that. Suarez hit the post as well!
