true, but at the same time you've got a couple of octogenarians running everything.
King/woodgate needs closure

looking at chelsea and utd, i really hope levy holds his nerve for another year.
I'm about as pessimistic as even spurs fans get, but i cant see both of those squads getting through the next full season without a serious collapse
Prob chelsea, but utds first team creaks even at the best of times these days
― the salmon of procrastination (darraghmac), Friday, 8 April 2011 13:18 (fifteen years ago)
Also got Cleverly, Welbeck, Rafael/Fabio, Smalling, and hear good things about Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison (has had a few run ins with the law though)
― Number None, Friday, 8 April 2011 13:19 (fifteen years ago)
hmmm. Spurs in same boat with the likes of kyles, rose and others, hard to bank on them though
― the salmon of procrastination (darraghmac), Friday, 8 April 2011 13:23 (fifteen years ago)
Well Cleverly and Welbeck are already premier league first-teamers so we know they can cut it at this level to some extent. Morrison has already given the world this gifhttp://www.theelastico.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/ravel-morrison.gif
― Number None, Friday, 8 April 2011 13:25 (fifteen years ago)
yeah, i like the look of both of them tbf, but there are a lot of young pl players that aren't good enough to play top 2/4/6
Lol at neither of us bringing obertan/dos santos up, very civil stuff this

I don't think Obertan will make it at Utd. Dos Santos needs to sort his head out. I've heard nothing but praise for Cleverly and I think if Welbeck works hard and sticks around, he could def. become the John O'Shea of forwards.

I just looked and Macheda has not scored once in 11 games for Sampdoria. Not a good sign.
― popular gay automobile (a hoy hoy), Friday, 8 April 2011 13:32 (fifteen years ago)
I've heard rumours about Obertan not settling well/not having the mental fortitude for Utd in general.
― Number None, Friday, 8 April 2011 13:32 (fifteen years ago)
I think the fact that Macheda's loan was to Italy is a sign that Fergie's not too bothered about him tbh
― Number None, Friday, 8 April 2011 13:33 (fifteen years ago)
obertan left bordeaux with the ame heavily qualified type of endorsement from blanc iirc, talented guy but hard to get going
― the salmon of procrastination (darraghmac), Friday, 8 April 2011 13:34 (fifteen years ago)
I think Chelsea will find it easier to deal with an aging squad via milan lab people coming w/ carlo and lol give a fuck about financial fair play
― popular gay automobile (a hoy hoy), Friday, 8 April 2011 13:35 (fifteen years ago)
Macheda's goal against Villa is going to look very strange on the Utd highlights reel of glory a decade hence if he doesn't make it. Wouldn't be surprised if Sky start hyping a goal by Scholes or someone during that run-in instead.

Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed the referee whose post-match report led to Wayne Rooney's ban for swearing into a TV camera was "put under pressure".United boss Ferguson said: "Mason has now put himself in the spotlight. If he doesn't send a player off for swearing the question will be, has he got double standards?"The Scot continued: "It is a very difficult position the lad is in. I feel for him. I really do. I don't know where his career is going to go now. I think he was put under pressure."

how much did Utd get for Rossi? Every time I see him he looks great. Goal last night a beauty.
― kuyty on a mission (pandemic), Friday, 8 April 2011 17:33 (fifteen years ago)
On July 31, 2007, Manchester United confirmed Rossi had been sold to Spanish club Villarreal for an undisclosed fee, reportedly around £6.6 million (€10 million).[8][9]
wikipedia is yr friend
― popular gay automobile (a hoy hoy), Friday, 8 April 2011 17:36 (fifteen years ago)
hm going to that wiki it seems that he scored 9 in 19 during loan spell at Parma. Would have thought that might have given Sir Alex pause.
― kuyty on a mission (pandemic), Friday, 8 April 2011 17:41 (fifteen years ago)
I should really be over it by now, but it still smarts that Rossi chose Italy instead of USA.
― Frightening, but full of facts that are difficult to argue with. (dan m), Friday, 8 April 2011 17:52 (fifteen years ago)
Meh. It's his choice and I rather doubt it was sentimental. I'm pretty sure it was calculating.

he moved to italy when he was 12, by the same logic you think stuart holden should play for scotland?
― mizzell, Friday, 8 April 2011 18:01 (fifteen years ago)
if playing for scotland allowed him to play with the greatest players of his generation who had just won the world cup, sure.
― popular gay automobile (a hoy hoy), Friday, 8 April 2011 18:04 (fifteen years ago)
i mean there is absolutely no reason why he would have or should have chose to play for the us and no reason why anyone should have expected him to.
― mizzell, Friday, 8 April 2011 18:05 (fifteen years ago)
did rooney's swearing suggest he believes everyone fucking hates him?
― The Geirogeirgegege (nakhchivan), Friday, 8 April 2011 18:15 (fifteen years ago)
no obv I think he should be the one to choose, just that it would have been cool to have a real goal scorer xp

almost tempting me into wiki-ing jozy there

I like jozy but he needs something still - not sure exactly what.

Rossi's primary problem was he was competing for a place against two diminutive strikers in Rooney and Tevez and didn't have height on his side. FWIW it was widely reported that Utd have a buy back clause in his contract but i don't see it happening tbh
― Number None, Friday, 8 April 2011 18:32 (fifteen years ago)
just walked out of the pub cos there's no way i could face the second half of that on shandy. fuck you Berra u useful fucking cunt.

wolves down 0-3 at half time. didn't see Beckford's opener but both Bilyaletdinov's and P Neville's strikes were lovely long range efforts.

ARSENALSecond place no disaster - Wenger
lol
― The Geirogeirgegege (nakhchivan), Saturday, 9 April 2011 13:44 (fifteen years ago)
Phil Dawkes reports: "Like his side, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp was predominantly on the offensive this week over his side's form, choosing to focus not on the six-game winless streak but the fact they have lost just one of the last nine league matches. A first Spurs goal in five games probably wouldn't go amiss for Redknapp, whose side desperately need to get their top-four pursuit back on track. Stoke are no strangers to upsetting the odds and could do with a repeat of last season's surprise 1-0 win at White Hart Lane to ease their relegation worries."
name change perchance?

Wenger's quote this morning made me laugh; Ferguson's about an 'increasingly obvious' bias against Utd did not.

Watching a Utd stream. Nice play by Nani for the goal but Berbatov def offside. Cunts.
