Lineker's "What?! What?! FFFFFarewell" actually had me in stitches then.

territory of the magic wand (Chris), Saturday, 2 April 2011 22:46 (fifteen years ago)

don't see what the problem is re: Rooney's swears. Sky already show 15 and 18 movies during the day, so just make the football pin-coded the same as them. And have a voiceover at the beginning to warn people the following game may continue strong language, or scenes of graphic violence if it's Stoke.

Boobage Dirtbag (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 3 April 2011 11:26 (fifteen years ago)

proper suggestion that.

then anyone bleating on about 'role models' can go fuck themselves even more than at the moment.

Did UEFA/Chelsea/Sky/The Daily Mail fine Drogba when he swore into the camera after that Champions League game?

territory of the magic wand (Chris), Sunday, 3 April 2011 13:21 (fifteen years ago)

tbf that was a fucking disgrace.

territory of the magic wand (Chris), Sunday, 3 April 2011 14:26 (fifteen years ago)

excellent beginning in city-sunderland, a johnson scores on a lovely 1-2 with yaya

mizzell, Sunday, 3 April 2011 15:12 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, city in 442 with the same personnel are title challengers. look very dangerous.

the salmon of procrastination (darraghmac), Sunday, 3 April 2011 15:37 (fifteen years ago)

Sunderland sliding from the Bolton/Stoke group towards the Blackburn/Birmingham group with every goal. Another couple of weeks of this form and they should start worrying.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 3 April 2011 16:35 (fifteen years ago)

they've had a couple of weeks of this form. they shouldn't be worrying, but the board, were they that type of board, would be justified in asking bruce where the expenditure is getting them

the salmon of procrastination (darraghmac), Sunday, 3 April 2011 16:36 (fifteen years ago)

wow Shaun Wright-Phillips still exists.

Who woulda thunk that making use of their attacking options would pay off for City.

Antoine Bugleboy (Merdeyeux), Sunday, 3 April 2011 16:37 (fifteen years ago)

Sunderland should easily be fine, but they did well to get those 38pts while they could. Blackpool and Blackburn are the only other sides I can think of who've made really big dives down the table though, mostly clubs seem to be just inching around together.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 3 April 2011 16:40 (fifteen years ago)

Sunderland shd be okay but they've lost 6 of their last 7 and not scored since mid Feb. It's a bit more than a wobble I think.

Boobage Dirtbag (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 3 April 2011 16:41 (fifteen years ago)

I'd love to put Arsenal down there in a dogfight right now, just to see what would happen.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 3 April 2011 16:42 (fifteen years ago)

Did UEFA/Chelsea/Sky/The Daily Mail fine Drogba when he swore into the camera after that Champions League game?

He got into trouble, but not for swearing, for basically suggesting the referee was corrupt.

in a wonderful balloon! (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 3 April 2011 18:58 (fifteen years ago)

is there anyone still out there ringing even the most tentative cautious note for kenny at liverpool? granted there are manifold mitigations re injuries, personnel and shortness of timespan but i'm not sure these all cover some of the more indifferent results

i suppose it's just looking at the table in hindsight you realise that fifth and even fourth spots werent quite as unattainable as they first looked

r|t|c, Sunday, 3 April 2011 20:16 (fifteen years ago)

also in the name of cup romance i sincerely hope spurs don't live to regret their league lassitude this year - realism dictates otherwise though

r|t|c, Sunday, 3 April 2011 20:18 (fifteen years ago)

No, I've been impressed with Dalglish. Despite getting on for quite a few poor results and performances now, the team does look a lot better, happier, and there are to my mind great signs of progress in terms of fringe players being able to come in and do a job rather than leave you head-in-hands every time - suggests the building of a cohesive unit to me, whereas before (not just under Roy to be fair) it felt more like a desperate plugging of gaps until Torres or Gerrard or whoever could do some magic. And the club does not feel like a complete shambles any more, which while it has a certain entertainment to it is not really the way forward long term.

If, say, Klinsmann fancied it as a project and became available during the summer I might reconsider, but for now I'm happy enough.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 3 April 2011 20:29 (fifteen years ago)

The 31 points bottom club Wigan have amassed so far would have been enough to stay up last season. What's the most anyone's gone down with, 43 or thereabouts?

death, taxes and (onimo), Sunday, 3 April 2011 20:32 (fifteen years ago)

Everyone always mentions West Ham in 2003, which was something like 43. Don't know if that was the highest (since 38 games a season).

in a wonderful balloon! (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 3 April 2011 21:16 (fifteen years ago)

Late substitutions and Spearing on the right wing apart, Kenny's done a good job. It's going to be an interesting summer.

territory of the magic wand (Chris), Sunday, 3 April 2011 21:21 (fifteen years ago)

Just checked - they were highest (since 3 points for a win and 38 games) and it was 42.

in a wonderful balloon! (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 3 April 2011 21:24 (fifteen years ago)

By the way, Reina to Arsenal's gotta be on right.

territory of the magic wand (Chris), Sunday, 3 April 2011 21:27 (fifteen years ago)

you'd think that

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 3 April 2011 21:30 (fifteen years ago)

hodgson did a better job pickin up after rafa than kenny's done picking up after hodgson.

the salmon of procrastination (darraghmac), Sunday, 3 April 2011 21:36 (fifteen years ago)

that is way too fucking good to be true. so it can't be. wenger obv sees chesney and fabianski as the way forward, and if we can leave almunia in the woods and bring back mannone or bring in a dece third choice, then we'll be alright <<< is what i think wenger is thinking. wd personally hump his leg if he bought reina this summer.

Nult AGL (a hoy hoy), Sunday, 3 April 2011 21:37 (fifteen years ago)

n'est pas?

the salmon of procrastination (darraghmac), Sunday, 3 April 2011 21:37 (fifteen years ago)

no

territory of the magic wand (Chris), Sunday, 3 April 2011 21:41 (fifteen years ago)

So rule out Arsenal and that leaves Utd. And adopted Scouser Reina would never go to them so.
