I just saw the serial killer episode last night and laughed my ass off.

HI DERE, Monday, 22 October 2007 21:01 (eighteen years ago)

Charlie is probably one of my most favorite TV characters ever. I, too, thought the second season was a little bit of a let-down. Good to hear they've gotten it back on track for the third.

will, Monday, 22 October 2007 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

The McBoyles are fantastic. Hey man.

Øystein, Monday, 22 October 2007 21:41 (eighteen years ago)

"you're dating a retard."

chicago kevin, Monday, 22 October 2007 21:50 (eighteen years ago)

I couldn't believe that episode actually kept up the "is he or isn't he?" thing for so long

mh, Monday, 22 October 2007 22:03 (eighteen years ago)

This season has been as awesome as the first two so far, and Charlie is just amazing. I haven't laughed as painfully hard as anything all year than the "Day Man/Night Man" songs from the episode a couple weeks ago.

Michael F Gill, Sunday, 28 October 2007 03:25 (eighteen years ago)

They might not make sense out of context, but:
Night Man
Day Man

Michael F Gill, Sunday, 28 October 2007 03:27 (eighteen years ago)

charlie is the best actor on tv

chaki, Sunday, 28 October 2007 22:36 (eighteen years ago)

You're a master of karate and friendship for everyone!
I'm amazed at how Charlie's insane screaming ALWAYS makes me laugh. It should've gotten old and annoying by now, but it just gets better.
Great, great show (albeit uneven) and I'm so glad it's managed to last so long. I was sure it wouldn't get a second series, let alone a third, since I've heard so little talk about it.

Øystein, Sunday, 28 October 2007 22:57 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I love how they always find ways for Charlie to scream and Dennis to take off his shirt.

Michael F Gill, Monday, 29 October 2007 02:31 (eighteen years ago)

I've had "Dayman" stuck in my head all day at work today. I'll write a line of code, then a voice in my head goes "fighter of the night-man! (a-aa-aaaah)"
It might drive me insane, but it's fun.

Øystein, Monday, 29 October 2007 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

ten months pass...

I like this show! Season 4 is 4 episodes in already! "The Gang Solve the Gas Crisis" is one of the best of the whole series.

BODY PROP (nickalicious), Saturday, 27 September 2008 17:26 (seventeen years ago)

I learned to play "Day Man" on the piano.

BODY PROP (nickalicious), Saturday, 27 September 2008 17:26 (seventeen years ago)

Charlie is married to the waitress in real life! Also, there is an episode later this season called "The Nightman Cometh"!

BODY PROP (nickalicious), Saturday, 27 September 2008 17:27 (seventeen years ago)

yeah when this show is "on" it's pretty hard to beat, lols-wise. there were more than a few stinkers peppered throughout seasons 2 & 3. much <3 for charlie tho. i want to hug that little guy.

flyover statesman (will), Saturday, 27 September 2008 17:40 (seventeen years ago)

just re-watched the "Gang Gets Invincible" ep. HILARITY.

flyover statesman (will), Saturday, 27 September 2008 17:41 (seventeen years ago)

BODY PROP (nickalicious), Saturday, 27 September 2008 17:46 (seventeen years ago)

apparently FX inked them for three more seasons!

flyover statesman (will), Saturday, 27 September 2008 17:56 (seventeen years ago)

This season has been pretty great so far. When Charlie and Sweet Dee are in a scene together, my heart sings.

polyphonic, Saturday, 27 September 2008 18:24 (seventeen years ago)

one month passes...

This might be the greatest scene I've ever witnessed on television:

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 13 November 2008 14:36 (seventeen years ago)

Love the scene earlier in that episode when Charlie is explaining to Mac his system for sorting the mail.

BODY PROP (nickalicious), Thursday, 13 November 2008 20:55 (seventeen years ago)

"Who Pooped the Bed?" is an incredible episode. WOLF HAIR.

BODY PROP (nickalicious), Thursday, 13 November 2008 20:56 (seventeen years ago)

I've been a little disappointed with the last few weeks of episodes. The first set of episodes was pretty great, though - it all kind of peaked with "Mac & Charlie Die". I have to admit that scene above in the mailroom was amazing, though.

Nhex, Thursday, 13 November 2008 21:00 (seventeen years ago)

Tonight was fucking incredible. I didn't actually hear anything they said during the home invasion scene over my own laughter; all I really remember of it was Dennis holding the boombox.

BODY PROP (nickalicious), Friday, 14 November 2008 07:46 (seventeen years ago)

Charlie Kelly is inarguably one of my 5 favorite television characters of all time right behind John Locke and Patrick Star.

BODY PROP (nickalicious), Friday, 14 November 2008 07:47 (seventeen years ago)

Charlie's final song of the Nightman play was one of the most touching things I've ever heard...seriously.

BODY PROP (nickalicious), Friday, 21 November 2008 08:11 (seventeen years ago)

I was so tired I crashed about halfway through the episode last night...and it was the season finale!!

Johnny Fever, Friday, 21 November 2008 14:22 (seventeen years ago)

I was laughing so hard at Charlie's awful singing in that last song, I could only make out half the words. I loved how the episode starts off with him asking why for one week, they can't not have some kind of devious plan or not try to screw someone over.

Nhex, Friday, 21 November 2008 14:33 (seventeen years ago)

oh man that was fucking amazing. charlie is the greatest protagonist we have ever known.

cutty, Friday, 21 November 2008 14:33 (seventeen years ago)

it wasn't this season's best by any stretch, but still v funny. i was watching it with some folks who weren't familiar withh Day Man/ Night Man, so i think they were a little dissapointed after gettting into it this season.

i also want to say that Mac, who was probably my least favorite character in the first couple of seasons, has landed just under Charlie as the best imo.

flyover statesman (will), Friday, 21 November 2008 14:38 (seventeen years ago)

devito looked like the penguin

cutty, Friday, 21 November 2008 14:39 (seventeen years ago)

i loved when the gladys told charlie to shhhh

cutty, Friday, 21 November 2008 14:39 (seventeen years ago)

cutty OTM with the penguin

Also Charlie's singing was amazing and weird at the same time. And that yellow suit holy crap that was amazing. He was like Willy Wonka on whippets.

David R., Saturday, 22 November 2008 17:44 (seventeen years ago)

The bit with Charlie at the end is probably my favorite moment in this whole series. For a split second the waitress is wide-eyed and astonished and Charlie has the world in the palm of his hand. Surreal and wonderful.

Green Man and the dumpster episodes are numbers two and three.

Adam Bruneau, Saturday, 22 November 2008 18:55 (seventeen years ago)

^^^ Green Man OTM! I think this may be my favorite IASIP scene thusfar (shit transfer, but whatevs):

just found out that mac and dee are married IRL, as are charlie and the waitress

why aren't these dudes in a ton of movies? i want charlie day to be in everything

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 13 April 2009 21:01 (seventeen years ago)

What? When?

Johnny Fever, Monday, 13 April 2009 21:02 (seventeen years ago)

"Lost" .... Aldo (1 episode, 2007)
- Not in Portland (2007) TV episode .... Aldo

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 13 April 2009 21:03 (seventeen years ago)

S03E07, apparently. I wonder why I wouldn't have recognized him.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 13 April 2009 21:03 (seventeen years ago)

wow... i knew about Charlie & the waitress; Mac & Dee is news.

now is the time to winterize your manscape (will), Monday, 13 April 2009 21:16 (seventeen years ago)

jaymc says he was an "Other goon," presumably a very small part

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 13 April 2009 21:27 (seventeen years ago)

for some reason, I find it strangely comforting to know that Charlie is married to The Waitress.

SORCEROUSES..roll on stage! (Pillbox), Monday, 13 April 2009 21:29 (seventeen years ago)

is this show still on, and should i watch it?

Ømår Littel (Jordan), Monday, 13 April 2009 21:31 (seventeen years ago)

some of the episodes are really really funny. i just bought the season 1/2 set at target for $13 and i've been watching it ... the early episodes are a little shaky, but it eventually gets kind of brilliant

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 13 April 2009 21:33 (seventeen years ago)

i think it's still on but i don't have cable so i'm not sure

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 13 April 2009 21:33 (seventeen years ago)

In between seasons right now, I think they're signed on for at least one or two more.

mh, Monday, 13 April 2009 21:34 (seventeen years ago)

Yes, pls watch. Although Hulu cut it down to 5 episodes from the whole series at a time, vs. having most seasons up for viewing at any time (they've done this with a lot of shows). Most of them are on DVD, though, and it's worth a Netflix rental starting from the first episodes.

Dennis was in Crank, playing the nervous doctor before Jason Statham electrocuted himself on purpose.

throwbookatface (skygreenleopard), Monday, 13 April 2009 21:37 (seventeen years ago)

Some episodes are shaky, but when this show is good it is fucking awesome.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 13 April 2009 21:38 (seventeen years ago)

That's one of the great Always Sunny bits, where they introduce some dumb obsession that a character has at the beginning and while everyone else is doing something seemingly unrelated, it turns out that one character was still only thinking about one thing

ɥɯ ︵ (°□°) (mh), Wednesday, 30 July 2025 13:57 (ten months ago)

Dog track episode was one of their most depraved, lol.

So what is the consensus on Cricket Pimp?

Lots more people down under the bridge these days.

earlnash, Friday, 22 August 2025 20:06 (nine months ago)

I think this is one of my fave seasons, which is kinda remarkable, given this is season 17.

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 23 August 2025 02:57 (nine months ago)

the call backs to their rehearsals were amazing.
also bummed to see that Lynne Marie Stewart (Charlie's mom) passed away. happened in feb, but had no idea.

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 25 August 2025 04:10 (nine months ago)

The hot pepper/EMT episode was amazing

frogbs, Tuesday, 2 September 2025 12:11 (nine months ago)

Something weird that caught my eye. I posted earlier that Rob McElhenney had officially changed his name to Rob Mac, which is distracting but whatever. And indeed every episode I watched this season had him credited in all his roles as Rob Mac ... except the last one, which reverted back to McElhenney. Wonder why? I don't know which specific service I got my copy from, maybe it's different in different places?

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 2 September 2025 12:27 (nine months ago)

imagine episodes maybe not shot/produced in order, maybe that one was finished before the name change and it's just an oversight?

dan selzer, Tuesday, 2 September 2025 13:30 (nine months ago)

I was googling around and allegedly different countries have different rules when it comes to name changes in credits. Maybe my copy was Canadian or something?

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 2 September 2025 13:38 (nine months ago)

It'd make sense for them to have shot at least portions of that last one first, given the appearance of an actor who passed away

slowly imploding (mh), Tuesday, 2 September 2025 14:08 (nine months ago)

I realized I hadn’t caught up with this show in years and started binging it. I just watched the one where Mac finds his pride, ending with a surprisingly moving dance number. Afterwards I bullied my wife and 15 year old daughter into watching it with me. Up until the payoff they were sighing and not feeling it and afterwards they were almost in tears. It was pretty great.

I think the show is comfort viewing for weirdos? I’m sick and layed up and it’s hitting the spot.

Cow_Art, Wednesday, 10 September 2025 14:46 (eight months ago)

This show has always been pretty good at producing sudden cannot-believe-that-just-happened jokes that stick indelibly in the brain — I got to the last episode of this season last night, and currently do not think I will ever get over...

Dee's sudden attempt to claim "I'ma barf on it" as a catchphrase, and her FACE afterward

ን (nabisco), Wednesday, 10 September 2025 16:36 (eight months ago)

The Gang Runs A Crypto Scam

Lady Sovereign (Citizen) (milo z), Wednesday, 10 September 2025 17:21 (eight months ago)

that's the Paddys Bucks episode

frogbs, Wednesday, 10 September 2025 17:22 (eight months ago)

i was happy for dee's barf on it catchphrase and face because her dry-gagging while trying to do stand-up in the episode where she and Charlie see each other's lives is still one of the finest comedic performances to ever appear on television.

dry-heave, not dry-gag.

dan selzer, Wednesday, 10 September 2025 17:37 (eight months ago)

Is “Rob Mac” a long game joke or has proximity to Ryan Reynolds pushed him over the edge?

Lady Sovereign (Citizen) (milo z), Wednesday, 10 September 2025 18:00 (eight months ago)

He said his name was too difficult for people in "foreign markets" to pronounce, so maybe he's planning a career move to C-Budget action movies.

Wounded Insulter (President Keyes), Wednesday, 10 September 2025 19:30 (eight months ago)

He should change his name to something easy to pronounce, like Schwarzenegger.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 10 September 2025 21:09 (eight months ago)

He said his name was too difficult for people in "foreign markets" to pronounce, so maybe he's planning a career move to C-Budget action movies.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's something to do with having to check his name is spelled correctly on legal documents pertaining to Wrexham. Anyway, he said himself it's not even his family's real name, it was just what the immigration guy wrote down.

Season 17 has appeared on Netflix in Ireland. The first two were really good, and I won't say more than that. It will never not be weird to me that these rundown dirtbags have managed to have so many cosmetic procedures done, though.

trishyb, Saturday, 20 September 2025 08:19 (eight months ago)

I re-watched "The Gang Gets Ready for Prime Time", that is an all time one. They could do that episode live in a theater.
