I always thought Greendale was somewhere in California, but I guess someone would've mentioned the beach by now if that were the case.

really nice calling card for Richard Ayoade, too (xpost). Totally want to see Submarine now - had been put off a bit by the trailer which it makes it look like a bit of a Wes Anderson rip-off. I mean, I love Wes Anderson but i'm not interested in seeing a rip-off, seems pointless.

I'm amazed/impressed at how next-level this ep was, and how quickly the show got there. It's their "Treehouse Of Horror VI." (Paintball was their "Marge Vs. The Monorail")

fwiw, I never saw the movie (I will now), but still caught the reference and the general sense that this was an otm/over-the-top homage. Caught a few clips on YouTube, and wow, Community had that shit down.

I watched it on DVR the next night. Soon as he started that story I paused it, said "no way", grabbed my iPhone, came to this thread, saw someone referencing My Dinner With Andre, then said "yup" and went back to the show.

I love the way this show sprinkles more shit to analyze in the background than Lost.

In one of the DVD commentaries someone on the cast talks about how they read one of the background flyers on the set, and how hilarious it was. Apparently the art department works insanely hard on these things.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. A lot of the posters in the hallways are just hilarious or off-putting, they clearly have a lot of fun with it.
