I did not realize that Ken Howard plays Hank Hooper!

"i'm sorry liz, but my hands are tied ... is the only show on TWINKS that's doing well" <- they REALLY love this joke construction

I didn't love this episode actually but bravo to Sorkin for having a sense of humor. Always loved this old line from Tina:
The gossipers over at New York Daily News have a great tidbit about Tina Fey dissing Aaron Sorkin at a recent event. She reportedly told the crowd at the Writers Guild Awards, "I hear Aaron Sorkin is in Los Angeles wearing the same dress- but longer, and not funny."

Yeah, that was perfecto!
― Johnny Fever, Saturday, 26 March 2011 10:00 (fifteen years ago)
loved the joke that was banks saying something like "now my life is only wet wipes and rectal thermometers... and babies"
― wavy g. wavegarten (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 26 March 2011 10:10 (fifteen years ago)
or maybe it was "and then came the babies" or something idk
also another hannibal burress cameo
"Remember when a movie was just a fella in a hat running away from a fella with no hair?"
Brilliantly delivered, but I don't get it. Does anyone?

― Mordy, Saturday, 26 March 2011 18:25 (fifteen years ago)
I guess I was thinking more broadly, like Kenneth's line from a couple weeks ago: "When I have problems I like to talk to the man upstairs. Unfortunately Mr. Gazalean got put in jail for attacking his father."
― jaymc, Saturday, 26 March 2011 19:00 (fifteen years ago)
my favorite joke like that was another one of Kenneth's: "That reminds me of a story about my neighbor's cat. His name was Mr. Wiggles and his cat's name was Norman..."

i watched this for the second time today, and i laughed even harder than i did the first time? i hadn't forgotten about TWINKS, but some of the jokes i'd forgotten just destroyed me. in fact, the one i'd forgotten about entirely was the whole "Jenna-Babies" bit, with the Vietnamese baby offering comfort to a GI then saying, "I'm good at math," then Jenna saying "That's so it's not racist." classic.

just posting this for the incredibly lol Palin quote; you really get the distinct sense that this woman does not actually understand her native language

someone really should put Palin on a word ration, tighten that shit right up.

Yeah but once you introduce word rationing, death panels can't be far behind, socialism.

http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2011/04/alec_baldwin_30_rock_ending.html
"I will tell you one thing," he said. "And that is our show next year is our last year of the show." Though Baldwin has made no secret of the fact that he plans to leave 30 Rock in 2012, this was the first time we've heard that the show itself would close up shop, too. But Baldwin says it's a done deal that Fey will be leaving. "Our contracts are expired [in 2012], and Tina is gonna have a big career directing films and writing. She's going to be the next Elaine May. She'll be great." Reps for Fey and the show declined to comment.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 6 April 2011 19:34 (fifteen years ago)
If true, this doesn't make me sad. I think six seasons of 30 Rock sounds about right.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 6 April 2011 19:35 (fifteen years ago)
would be impossible to continue without baldwin anyway
― sonderangerbot, Wednesday, 6 April 2011 19:36 (fifteen years ago)
yeah, i kinda hope it ends, but would like to see fey do another tv show maybe.

tbh I would watch a relationship comedy starring Tina Fey and Matt Damon
― fat fat fat fat Usher (DJP), Wednesday, 6 April 2011 19:52 (fifteen years ago)
I suggested (to no one in particular, but I think my dog was in the room when I said it out loud) that Baldwin/Donaghy should go to the Office: fish-out-of-water, down-on-his-luck big-city CEO in a small town, hilarity ensuing, etc. And Carrell could take over for Donaghy! Small-town middle-manager in over his head, etc. etc.

My Season 4 DVD just arrived so it's helping me through these two weeks of no new episodes. I'm not surprised they're gonna wrap it up, I'm amazed the show has remained so high quality for this long.BTW I didn't notice it at the time but in Season 4, Alec Baldwin does this weird pouty Zoolander lip thing at the end of scenes like ALL THE TIME! And now I've noticed it I can't not-see it.

This show needs to end. Also, Baldwin's comments reek of contractual negotiations – threaten the network with impending doom, the network stumps up more money. He's helping his mates.

― caek, Thursday, 7 April 2011 01:23 (fifteen years ago)
Baldwin's had one foot out the door for the show's entire run, talking about leaving when the daughter voicemail happened and at other points -- i think he enjoys 30 Rock and knows he's got a good thing but probably justifiably doesn't want to hang on forever like a lot of TV stars. and i can see why Fey would want to move onto other projects, 6 seasons is a good run, not too short and not too long.
