isn't Alan Keyes still trying to keep O out of the White House til he "proves" his citizenship?
― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 20:53 (fifteen years ago) link
Authentic LOLs @ nick and John.
There are a bunch of crazy right wingers debating the finer distinctions between a "birth certificate" and a "certification of live birth." I was unaware that Alan Keyes was involved, yet I am not surprised that he would be. That guy is a Class A Loon.

His attorney, Sheldon Sorosky, said afterward that Blagojevich "is very surprised and certainly feels that he did not do anything wrong."
Exactly how is this guy going to explain away the recordings in court?

Pub quiz was kind of hard tonight. Round 2 definitely wasn't a Simpsons-related holiday round. We would have benefited from someone who was raised devout Catholic, knew obscure 80s one hit wonder artists, and who recognized both a former NFL commissioner and the guy who played Lt. Worf on Star Trek TNG (among other tidbits).

tender esl story, coming right up:
last summer i had a student named mohammed who was from iraq. he was an engineer in iraq, but was looking for a job - any job- here in chicago. he was in my class for like 2 weeks, maybe three. during that time, he requested that i help him get a dictionary like the ones we use in class. i said sure. other people said they wanted the dictionaries too, so i ordered a bunch of used ones from various sellers via abeb00ks. the second or third week of class he told me that he got a job at a hotel as "hotelman" and that his schedule would prevent him from attending class and he was very sorry. for weeks these dictionaries poured into my mailbox; it was really irritating and they were really heavy to carry to work. the guy disappeared and never got his dictionary and i never saw him again.
until today, when i was walking home from the train and i saw him. he was just standing there on the corner talking to a friend in front of the indian/pakistani restaurant. i turned around and made sure it was him. it was. it just so happens that i had ONE dictionary left from the several dozen that i ordered. no one bought that one. so i ran upstairs (across the street) and he waited for me and he finally got his dictionary.
the end.
