NO! Sorry but no! Liverpool NEARLY FUCKING WENT INTO ADMINISTRATION THIS SEASON! -9, remember? Uncertainty over when they'd get paid? No Torres, Gerrard, Carragher for long stretches? Meireles taking 6 months to adapt like many foreigners (so he wouldn't have got the Kenny bounce)? Reina and Torres flirting with other clubs?
you weren't saying this at the time, yet more utter rubbish. if liverpool appointed wenger you'd argue pol pot should get the job.
― Ask Nult What Your Country Can Do For You (Local Garda), Monday, 21 March 2011 00:11 (fifteen years ago)
What? How was I not defending Hodgson against everyone blaming him while the club were going into administration?
― Nult AGL (a hoy hoy), Monday, 21 March 2011 00:13 (fifteen years ago)
yeah i remember your support of carragher as a key player back then.
be honest, how many liverpool games did you watch under roy?
hodgson was awful, no defences, no excuses, barely any good performances, he was fucking terrible, and a moron in every press conference. he was SHIT. and if roy can blame the ownership thing then rafa is the greatest manager of all time.
― Ask Nult What Your Country Can Do For You (Local Garda), Monday, 21 March 2011 00:15 (fifteen years ago)
I watched 3 or 4. How is Carragher not a key player, whether I like him or not? And there is a difference between ON THE BRINK OF ADMINISTRATION and being given 26m for Torres and 20m for Keane etc. etc. etc. x90 players
― Nult AGL (a hoy hoy), Monday, 21 March 2011 00:23 (fifteen years ago)
you're right, roy did brilliantly.
― Ask Nult What Your Country Can Do For You (Local Garda), Monday, 21 March 2011 00:28 (fifteen years ago)

Chelsea would be in the title race if United had dropped points on Saturday, but it looks pretty massively unlikely now, especially with the Champions League still an issue (the winner of Chelsea-United would have to fancy reaching the final) and having to almost certainly beat United at Old Trafford in one of the last games of the season, which would be Liverpool 0 Arsenal 2 unlikely and NEVER happens to a club like Chelsea.
Still, it's looking a lot better than it was at Christmas. We're playing as well as anybody and Arsenal are clearly gettable.
Terry and Luiz are a dream pair. If we had a right back, we'd have the best defence in Europe by a distance.
Ramires is a candidate for signing of the season, and a bit of competition up front seems to be helping (even if Drogba and Torres are both on the longest non-scoring runs in their careers).
Very odd season for nearly everybody I think.

don't see ivanovic as a problem at rb, tho he's better in the centre alright.
Ramires has had a great first season, couldn't understand the grief he was getting a few weeks back.

You mean like last season? When you did it and then won the league?
― United Are Back (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 21 March 2011 11:36 (fifteen years ago)
That statto.com table is very strange - Liverpool are up there on almost all the metrics. Basically nobody's put together any sort of worthwhile run all season, other than Utd going 24 unbeaten.
― Ismael Klata, Monday, 21 March 2011 11:43 (fifteen years ago)
24 unbeaten you say?

x-posts
Yeah, but this will be, what, second last game or something? It was more like mid-April last time, with three or four still to play. It's highly unlikely given the ground we have to make up and those quarter-finals to come.
Ivanovic isn't a problem at RB all, but he's not a specialist and doesn't bring as much to the attack as Cole. He's a decent CB but actually makes more mistakes than Alex, Terry or Luiz - bit suspect positionally and probably fourth choice now.
Ramires: some fans just like a moan, don't they? He struggled in September/October when we lost Lampard, Benayoun and Essien, but has been excellent since December - incredible energy and deceptively strong. The media is finally waking up to what most Chelsea fans have been saying since Christmas.

Maybe. Maybe not. Saying that a team in the semi who isn't facing Barca or Real would fancy their chances of reaching the final is hardly outrageous bullishness. Cos usually, you know, I am full of cocky pre-game boasting, aren't I? Sheesh.

ya pete i just find it overly sanguine cuz by rights (players/current form) inter would probably be favourites vs either of those two in any semifinal matchup

i bleev harlan gave you the old ess bee
If we can batter inter then they're flawed, regardless of resurgence. Though i think chelsea prob play too high up the pitch to expose them

think the quality of english football would be improved by reducing the violence a little, tho current players (see holden/ferdinand comments) mostly seem accepting of dangerous play

Blatter doing some of Lord Bell's work:
“I am deeply proud of the fans reactions to the tournament,” she said. “Beforehand, we had only played in tournaments outside of the country so this was the first women’s football tournament to be held in Bahrain and all of the games were televised live. The number of fans who attended and the mix of men, women, families, and children who came out to support the team was beyond amazing. The team has become the talk of the country and to see grown men wearing Bahrain jerseys with the names of our female players on their back is incredible!”
