boob oscillator (Schlafsack), Thursday, 24 March 2011 04:12 (fifteen years ago)

I bought a tablet this week.

But I'll take it over to the Relatively New Wacom Lust Objects thread.

Giving Wacom some credit for some apple-worthy packaging and design.

dan selzer, Thursday, 24 March 2011 04:15 (fifteen years ago)

Wow, a gis shows some v nice wacom tablets.

btw can't believe I'm planning to get up at 1 am for this sodding itampon thing.

boob oscillator (Schlafsack), Thursday, 24 March 2011 04:21 (fifteen years ago)

(to be clear: getting up, placing my order online, going back to bed)

boob oscillator (Schlafsack), Thursday, 24 March 2011 04:24 (fifteen years ago)

I have the medium Intuous 4. It has oled or whatever softkeys where the txt or icon changes depending on how you program it! Also a touch scroll wheel with 4 different options. One of the options is to rotate the canvas. I was like, why would you do that. Then I started working hardcore on the reason I bought the damn thing, where I'm doing some serious "drawing" and wow, now I get it. Amazing. I also got it to help with carpal tunnel. Getting used to using it in photoshop, less so for average daily tasks. Though I do feel like a computer superhero when I click "submit post" with a pen. It's no fairlight, but it's close.

dan selzer, Thursday, 24 March 2011 04:26 (fifteen years ago)

Fantastic that it assists your carpal tunnel. That's what tech should be doing ffs, not just developing laptops with screens that arbitrary lay flat for lolz.

avant garde a clue (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 24 March 2011 13:56 (fifteen years ago)

eh, I ordered mine on opening day in the USA & the original ship date was the end of April

though it shipped last night so don't take those dates super seriously I guess

Euler, Thursday, 24 March 2011 14:01 (fifteen years ago)

Case has shipped. Um, okay.

boob oscillator (Schlafsack), Thursday, 24 March 2011 21:49 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, I got my case last week. Very useful it has been...

Jeff, Thursday, 24 March 2011 21:52 (fifteen years ago)

My iPad 2 shipped yesterday, over a week earlier than was initially indicated.

I think I get why people keep saying the ipad is more than just a big iphone now.

breaker moran (Schlafsack), Sunday, 3 April 2011 22:46 (fifteen years ago)

I've had mine for five days now & it's fab---this os is really neat & the extra real estate enables lots of new things, or at least does so without the eye strain.

Flipbook is really great. It makes my fb & twitter feeds actually worth bothering with.

Euler, Monday, 4 April 2011 01:00 (fifteen years ago)

It's funny that everyone calls it Flipbook. I kind of prefer Zite now, though they're facing cease and desist letters from publishers.

Alba, Monday, 4 April 2011 20:18 (fifteen years ago)

Got so sick of being unable to find anything without spotlight that I've just spent 90 mins putting all my iphone and ipad apps into folders sorted alphabetically. In my defence I am sick today and lack the brain power to do anything else.

You Say Various Things (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 12 April 2011 23:35 (fifteen years ago)

The iPhone and iPad have Spotlight, you just have to swipe to the screen to the left of the home screen

mh, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 00:14 (fifteen years ago)

Wait, maybe it's just the iPhone, I can't remember at the minute.

mh, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 00:14 (fifteen years ago)

Sorry, that's what I meant, I've been using spotlight because I could never find anything.

You Say Various Things (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 00:19 (fifteen years ago)

I use spotlight to find most things that aren't in the multi-task dock. Just easier for me.

Not sure why I never did this before tbh.

You Say Various Things (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 00:35 (fifteen years ago)

(all my everyday apps are on the home screen, not in folders)

You Say Various Things (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 00:37 (fifteen years ago)

Oh you have too many apps, just delete most.

mh, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 01:23 (fifteen years ago)

why so many?!

shaane, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 01:53 (fifteen years ago)

I... don't... know

You Say Various Things (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 01:54 (fifteen years ago)

Basically I do routine clear-outs and can't bring myself to delete most of them.

You Say Various Things (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 01:54 (fifteen years ago)

I admire your fortitude. Too many apps makes my iPod touch a blackhole of focus every time I use it. Too much coffee and not enough sleep contribute, but an organized launch screen can be zen like.

shaane, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 01:59 (fifteen years ago)

My launch screen has always been in order but it's the whole "aaagh shit where did I put that shopping discounts app" thing that's been doing my head in.

You Say Various Things (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 02:02 (fifteen years ago)

I fully endorse too many apps. I havelike 5 folders of games that I keep. Most I keep so I dont lose my saved progress. If I removed them and they release an update with more levels then I have to start over. Completism fail.

Jeff, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 02:02 (fifteen years ago)

I do that too. Too many Tiny Birds nests too lose and Essay gets so better with each update, I hang on to it till I get the most use out of it. I'm sayin, have the main screen be for apps you actually have the device for, a second screen for occasionally-used apps, then screens all the way down for erything else. This is the best method I've found so far.

shaane, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 02:10 (fifteen years ago)

ugh. I've bought three writing apps this week, don't think I'm up for a fourth. Essay does look bloody good though.

You Say Various Things (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 02:12 (fifteen years ago)

Haha. You a lost cause, man.

And you bring up a good point. With so many apps without trials, I waste a lot of money buying apps that look kinda good but might suck usability-wise. So many shit weather apps I have paid money for.

shaane, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 02:17 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah. If it's cheaper than a pint you can say "ah well, at least it was cheaper than a pint" but there's one $13 purchase from 2009 that I regret to this day. It stays on my phone because I'm too cranky to delete it.

You Say Various Things (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 02:24 (fifteen years ago)

btw the writing apps I bought all have different applications so it's not too bad.

You Say Various Things (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 02:24 (fifteen years ago)

If you backup the phone to iTunes you can delete the games. Updates will appear in iTunes and then when you reinstall it will put yr data back on the phone too.

stet, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 07:46 (fifteen years ago)

But won't that only work if you then Restore from backup and so lose any subsequent game data from apps you're still using?

groovypanda, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 08:01 (fifteen years ago)

I've just spent 90 mins putting all my iphone and ipad apps into folders sorted alphabetically

90 minutes is too long! You weren't doing it on the actual phone were you?

Alba, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 08:19 (fifteen years ago)

...

yes

VitaweatavegemiteGrrl (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 09:28 (fifteen years ago)

but i reiterate that i was decently sick this morning

VitaweatavegemiteGrrl (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 09:29 (fifteen years ago)

If you backup the phone to iTunes you can delete the games. Updates will appear in iTunes and then when you reinstall it will put yr data back on the phone too..

that ihas not been the case for me. For example if I beat angry birds, uncheck the app, sync, then check and sync it back, all the levels are shown as not complete. Maybe because I sync two phones to the same iTunes?

Jeff, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 11:25 (fifteen years ago)

Hi, does anyone have a clue when the macbook air specs are going to be updated?
