I also heard that Blago used his influence to look at private files at the Trib, and used that information to get someone fired.

i want an iphone just so i can sync up my computer's calendars and address book really easily.
― Tanganyika laughter epidemic (gbx), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:02 (seventeen years ago)
"Blagojevich also allegedly spent significant time weighing the option of appointing himself to the open Senate seat " LOL
Sarah/Nick - I have been researching iPhone v. G1 and it's a draw. The monthly plans are pretty much the same (within a couple of dollars) and the G1 is only slightly cheaper. The nice thing about the G1 is the actualy qwerty keyboard and the GPS. These are the things that are making me lean toward it.
But the iPhone's interface (esp the pinch and unpinch) is slightly nicer and you can use it as a remote for iTunes on your computer.
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:04 (seventeen years ago)
g1 is still a little new, i'd say. i'd wait for it to mature, personally
― Tanganyika laughter epidemic (gbx), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:05 (seventeen years ago)
Since you have a Mac, I think you should get an iPhone. Google phones are amazing, I am not being a fan girl, but the iPhone to Mac relationship is totally true love.
― atty at LOL (Jenny), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:06 (seventeen years ago)
Yeh, that's another thing. But for being so new, it has been getting some pretty good reviews.
The good news (for me) is that my current conract doesn't expire for 9 more months, so there is a chance that there will be a new generation of G1s.
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:07 (seventeen years ago)
xp
The GPS is pretty sweet though...
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:08 (seventeen years ago)
He was considering running for President in 2016?!
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:09 (seventeen years ago)
I'm too biased against cable to make a recommendation on that. If Jeff was not interested in sports, I think we could very easily ditch cable in favor of TV on the Internet. I mean, shit, our computer monitor is nicer than our TV, picture wise.
― atty at LOL (Jenny), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:09 (seventeen years ago)
G1 iPhones have GPS, don't they?
G1?
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:10 (seventeen years ago)
"G1 iPhones?" I meant.
From The Trib:
90. Later on November 3, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH spoke with Advisor A.By this time, media reports indicated that Senate Candidate 1, an advisor to the Presidentelect, was interested in the Senate seat if it became vacant, and was likely to be supported bythe President-elect. During the call, ROD BLAGOJEVICH stated, "unless I get somethingreal good for [Senate Candidate 1], shit, I'll just send myself, you know what I'm saying."ROD BLAGOJEVICH later stated, "I'm going to keep this Senate option for me a realpossibility, you know, and therefore I can drive a hard bargain. You hear what I'm saying. And if I don't get what I want and I'm not satisfied with it, then I'll just take the Senate seatmyself." Later, ROD BLAGOJEVICH stated that the Senate seat "is a fucking valuablething, you just don't give it away for nothing."
Jeff's commentary: "ha ha he's screwed"
― atty at LOL (Jenny), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:13 (seventeen years ago)
Errr G3, I guess. The new one that is not the one Jeff and I have but the one that came after.
He added, leaning close to the mic, "I am attempting something illegal, is that clear? I am committing a felony right now."
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:14 (seventeen years ago)
You're right. 3G iPhone has GPS. Hmmm. This will give me more to think about over the next 9 months.
When is the big Mac convention where they release new crazy crap?

Also from the Trib (their caps):
ROD BLAGOJEVICH agreed it was unlikely that the President-elect would name him Secretary of Health and Human Services or give him an ambassadorship because of all of the negative publicity.
ROD BLAGOJEVICH said that the consultants (Advisor B and another consultant are believed to be on the call at that time) are telling him that he has to "suck it up" for two years and do nothing and give this "motherfucker [the President-elect] his senator. Fuck him. For nothing? Fuck him." ROD BLAGOJEVICH states that he will put "[Senate Candidate 4]" in the Senate "before just give fucking [Senate Candidate 1] a fucking Senate seat and I don't get anything." (Senate Candidate 4 is a Deputy Governor of the State of Illinois).
Later in the conversation, ROD BLAGOJEVICH said he knows that the President-elect wants Senate Candidate 1 for the Senate seat but "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. Fuck them."
― atty at LOL (Jenny), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:29 (seventeen years ago)
For some reason, him calling Obama a "motherfucker" is the part that is giving me the vapors.

Some reasons I sometimes want more than network tv:* Battlestar* HBO * Comedy Central* TLC
So, I just had 99 friends on Facebook this morning, and now I only have 98. That means that in the past couple of hours someone decide to unfriend me. So sad.
― KitCat, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:34 (seventeen years ago)
sometimes i see that and i spend an inordinate amount of time wondering who it was and i never figure it out, which means something i guess.
― omar little, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:35 (seventeen years ago)
Oh weird, I have never noticed such a thing, but I'm sure it's happened. Well, Sarah, it wasn't me.
Battlestar is definitely a key draw, and the reason why we have the cable package we have now, but it will be over soon. (SOB) Most of the other stuff you can get on iTunes or the network website, can't you? Just not contemporaneously to its air date, but with the DVR we never watch anything at its regular air time.
― atty at LOL (Jenny), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:39 (seventeen years ago)
I probably just sent out one too many Word Twist game requests to someone. ha ha
― KitCat, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:43 (seventeen years ago)
WOAH. I figured out who unfriended me, just an ex-coworker. Well, screw 'em.

we can watch lots of tv on our computer but we just have a laptop so the screen is small. plus we just got that big new fancy tv. we can hook up the laptop to the tv if i get the necessary cable but it never looks that great, just looks digitized and weird

Ahhhh that makes sense - I forgot you had a laptop and a fancy TV. Well, I will offer this: DVR is pretty awesome and satellite breaks when the weather is bad. Alternative, we can trade TVs.

Oh, hte other thing: G1 is on TMobile, which has the Fave 5 thing, so you can get unlimited calls to your F5.
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:58 (seventeen years ago)
And b/c of this, you can get a smaller minute plan.

Still, Dan, it might not hurt to read up on the Simpsons Christmas episodes.
I'm on this.
Something key to remember about the first Christmas ep? -- Several of the scenes were laid out by Eric Stefani, brother of Gwen Stefani.

Also, on AT&T you get roll-over minutes. It really is a draw. It comes down to details.

I miss faux-Scrabble!
There's real Scrabble, and there's Wordscraper, which is from the makers of faux-Scrabble and is v. similar.

I keep thinking it probably won't be Simpsons-related, that it's just an amusing anagrammatic coincidence, but then I think of how there's a Simpsons question in General Knowledge every fucking week.

I know, Nick. I'm on it. I was waiting for a family member to stop by first and to find out if the boss would be in (he won't). I managed to get scolded for something over the phone. I fedexed a package to him he requested and stuck in another fedex he'd just received which was related to the rest of the stuff and required his sig's, but it turns out it was supposed to be reviewed by someone else in the office first. Fun!
