the first appearance of Lil Sebastian, when they all go crazy with excitement, was a show highlight for me

I just love the moment when A & A are in the ferris wheel having their little spat with no hint of resolve in sight and then Ron arcs up with 'OH LOOK IT'S THIS SIMPLE' and just ends it, like he had jumped out of the show and grabbed the narrative by both horns.

maybe it's backlash against the constant smirking and microexpressions on The Office, but they could afford to reduce the adam scott "wtf" gags to unspoken blinking or something. like he could blink 4x very fast, then furrow his brow 5 degrees and that'd be just about right.

He'd be the sort of person to skip to the last page of a book (if he read books) xp

On the Adam Scott thing: I reckon it's done perfectly. Right from the start Pawnee has felt a little bit out of phase, so imo it was a genius stroke to recruit an Alice character to come in and go 'wtf is with this place'. As viewers we'll probably get to understand Pawnee a bit better through him.

if that's what his character is there for then i must protest -- nothing insults the audience more than putting a proxy for them in the show constantly going "what the hell is going on here" for fear of alienating them, or them not getting the joke, but i hope they're not doing that, because haunted boy mayor is a potentially an entire shelbyville of unexplored wackiness to pawnee's springfield.

I don't think he's acting as a proxy for the audience, just providing a contrast to the Pawnee hivemind.

I watched it a second time on Sunday afternoon and, yeah, the Adam Scott bits were a little overbearing. Let's tone that down, okay?

this show is full of cute, insufficiently funny people. ok it has three (aubrey plaza, rashida jones, adam scott). rob lowe is beyond cute and actually kind of funny in it.

The only unfunny person on this show was written out before this season started.

rewatched some s1 episodes and the most grating thing was them giving AZIZ the jkrans "ugh i am so annoyed by these ppl" reactions. i am more okay with adam scott having these reactions because he's an outsider, but really i like his character the best when he's paling around all nerdily with leslie.

plaza is hilares

I like all of the characters on my favorite tv show.

at this point i think paul schneider was funnier than adam scott is. also i think i am finally deciding that i "dont get"/"dont really like" aziz ansari

still dig this show a lot though, mostly on the back of poehler/chris pratt/nick offerman, and the guest spots are all terrific. they should bring back louis c.k.

yeah i was annoyed when j0rdan said Community was more cute than funny but i think that description really fits P&R. it's very very cute.

Also very positive. I love seeing Leslie so determined to do something.

love the running anti-salad gag throughout this show

xp in fact yeah, one of the really great things about this show is that there's no mean humour. You've not got say a Dwight making people's lives hell or a Jack Donaghy arbitrarily putting people down.

But there was that one episode where we saw the side of Jerry that totally deserves it.
