I am going to wikipedia the shit out of every topic we can figure out, yay unemployment.

Actually I probably could have done that pretty easily while I was still working, the last few months at least.
I suck at quiz.
― Jesse, Monday, 8 December 2008 23:37 (seventeen years ago)
Tonight's quiz rounds:
1) Audio Rounds: Shortened Wino 10 pts2) Happily Say D'Oh! 11 pts3) Match- Hey You, Beer Me 15 pts4) Chemical States Round 16 pts5) Dead or Canadian 11 pts6) Picture Round 15 pts7) General Knowledge 22 pts
I have no idea if "Audio Rounds" means that it's an actual audio round (I've never seen him do that) or if that's part of an anagram.
I thought "Happily Say D'oh" might be a Simpsons round, but it's actually an anagram for "Happy Holidays." Still, Dan, it might not hurt to read up on the Simpsons Christmas episodes.

Audio RoundS with the S at the end implies something weird to me

Oh man. Blagojevich was taken into federal custody. It was only a matter of time.
― sisut, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 14:23 (seventeen years ago)
crazy

Mood at the JRTC is... celebratory. Ha! That's what happens when you are the first governor since the passage of the Illinois State Labor Relations Act to bed a dick about contract negotiations.
― atty at LOL (Jenny), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 15:07 (seventeen years ago)
Uh... be a dick, not bed a dick.
Our AA is listening to the radio and saying, "Wow! WHOA!" This should be good.
― atty at LOL (Jenny), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 15:08 (seventeen years ago)
Eeee the "Wow/whoa" was in response to the radio talking about some connections with Obama. I guess the Feds have Blago on tape mentioning his name in some context?
― atty at LOL (Jenny), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 15:13 (seventeen years ago)
WTF NPR?? You're playing music?? There have been 3 songs on in a row. Now is the time for news, you bastards.
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 15:28 (seventeen years ago)
Argh. Now they're playing the fucking Hold Steady. It goes from bad to intolerable. a;dlsfsad;lf
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 15:30 (seventeen years ago)
Update: there must be some mistake...I'm on the 24 hour program stream and there is a DJ announcing songs.
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 15:33 (seventeen years ago)
the connection to obama is that blago is getting busted for allegedly trying to get $$$ in connection to his power to pick obama's replacement as senator: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081209/ap_on_re_us/blagojevich_corruption_probe
― n/a is just more of a character....in a genre polluted by clones (n/a), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 15:35 (seventeen years ago)
ie not damaging to obama
― n/a is just more of a character....in a genre polluted by clones (n/a), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 15:36 (seventeen years ago)
Phew, okay, thanks. The AA is listening to some bs morning drive-time DJ show that she likes, so I was skeptical, but it is good to hear some independent confirmation.
― atty at LOL (Jenny), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 15:37 (seventeen years ago)
Oh and Blagojevich also faked the birth certificate and he and Rezko oversaw Obama's secret Muslim conversion ceremony.
― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 15:44 (seventeen years ago)
oh no!
― Tanganyika laughter epidemic (gbx), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 15:49 (seventeen years ago)
LOL that is why it's a CERTIFICATION OF LIVE BIRTH and not a birth certificate!

― Tanganyika laughter epidemic (gbx), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 15:57 (seventeen years ago)

i looked at the google phone thing and it doesn't seem much cheaper than the iphone, plus we have a mac so i'd be less worried about the iphone being compatible with our computer (like for music uploads or whatever) than the google phone. plus i wonder if the G1 applications store will take off like the itunes app store has?
― n/a is just more of a character....in a genre polluted by clones (n/a), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 15:58 (seventeen years ago)
I also heard that Blago used his influence to look at private files at the Trib, and used that information to get someone fired.
― sisut, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)
i want an iphone just so i can sync up my computer's calendars and address book really easily.
― Tanganyika laughter epidemic (gbx), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:02 (seventeen years ago)
"Blagojevich also allegedly spent significant time weighing the option of appointing himself to the open Senate seat " LOL
Sarah/Nick - I have been researching iPhone v. G1 and it's a draw. The monthly plans are pretty much the same (within a couple of dollars) and the G1 is only slightly cheaper. The nice thing about the G1 is the actualy qwerty keyboard and the GPS. These are the things that are making me lean toward it.
But the iPhone's interface (esp the pinch and unpinch) is slightly nicer and you can use it as a remote for iTunes on your computer.
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:04 (seventeen years ago)
g1 is still a little new, i'd say. i'd wait for it to mature, personally
― Tanganyika laughter epidemic (gbx), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:05 (seventeen years ago)
Since you have a Mac, I think you should get an iPhone. Google phones are amazing, I am not being a fan girl, but the iPhone to Mac relationship is totally true love.
― atty at LOL (Jenny), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:06 (seventeen years ago)
Yeh, that's another thing. But for being so new, it has been getting some pretty good reviews.
The good news (for me) is that my current conract doesn't expire for 9 more months, so there is a chance that there will be a new generation of G1s.
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:07 (seventeen years ago)
xp
The GPS is pretty sweet though...
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:08 (seventeen years ago)
He was considering running for President in 2016?!
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:09 (seventeen years ago)
I'm too biased against cable to make a recommendation on that. If Jeff was not interested in sports, I think we could very easily ditch cable in favor of TV on the Internet. I mean, shit, our computer monitor is nicer than our TV, picture wise.
― atty at LOL (Jenny), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:09 (seventeen years ago)
G1 iPhones have GPS, don't they?
G1?
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:10 (seventeen years ago)
"G1 iPhones?" I meant.
From The Trib:
90. Later on November 3, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH spoke with Advisor A.By this time, media reports indicated that Senate Candidate 1, an advisor to the Presidentelect, was interested in the Senate seat if it became vacant, and was likely to be supported bythe President-elect. During the call, ROD BLAGOJEVICH stated, "unless I get somethingreal good for [Senate Candidate 1], shit, I'll just send myself, you know what I'm saying."ROD BLAGOJEVICH later stated, "I'm going to keep this Senate option for me a realpossibility, you know, and therefore I can drive a hard bargain. You hear what I'm saying. And if I don't get what I want and I'm not satisfied with it, then I'll just take the Senate seatmyself." Later, ROD BLAGOJEVICH stated that the Senate seat "is a fucking valuablething, you just don't give it away for nothing."
Jeff's commentary: "ha ha he's screwed"
― atty at LOL (Jenny), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:13 (seventeen years ago)
Errr G3, I guess. The new one that is not the one Jeff and I have but the one that came after.
He added, leaning close to the mic, "I am attempting something illegal, is that clear? I am committing a felony right now."
― Jesse, Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:14 (seventeen years ago)
You're right. 3G iPhone has GPS. Hmmm. This will give me more to think about over the next 9 months.
When is the big Mac convention where they release new crazy crap?

LOL That was so funny, I actually emailed it to my mother.
― atty at LOL (Jenny), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:25 (seventeen years ago)
Also from the Trib (their caps):
ROD BLAGOJEVICH agreed it was unlikely that the President-elect would name him Secretary of Health and Human Services or give him an ambassadorship because of all of the negative publicity.
ROD BLAGOJEVICH said that the consultants (Advisor B and another consultant are believed to be on the call at that time) are telling him that he has to "suck it up" for two years and do nothing and give this "motherfucker [the President-elect] his senator. Fuck him. For nothing? Fuck him." ROD BLAGOJEVICH states that he will put "[Senate Candidate 4]" in the Senate "before just give fucking [Senate Candidate 1] a fucking Senate seat and I don't get anything." (Senate Candidate 4 is a Deputy Governor of the State of Illinois).
Later in the conversation, ROD BLAGOJEVICH said he knows that the President-elect wants Senate Candidate 1 for the Senate seat but "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. Fuck them."
― atty at LOL (Jenny), Tuesday, 9 December 2008 16:29 (seventeen years ago)
For some reason, him calling Obama a "motherfucker" is the part that is giving me the vapors.
