your triangle head is scary

VegemiteGrrl, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 22:02 (fifteen years ago)

I like him, but this show had enough characters before he and Lowe showed up

rockapads, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 22:02 (fifteen years ago)

What happened to Leslie's mom btw?

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 22:07 (fifteen years ago)

I wish I had a scary triangle head. I'd be famous.

Jeff, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 22:27 (fifteen years ago)

Really I was surpirsed that it was some dude saying that.

i can't tell if this is sarcasm or not. i've been lukewarm on P&R and cap'n-save-a-lorre many times before!

JaySeanLilWayne (some dude), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 22:36 (fifteen years ago)

while it's kind of trollish (and obnoxious) of some dude to say it's a "better" show, I can understand someone preferring the traditional zing-style sitcom jokes on Two & a Half to P&R's more character-driven humor. I have many friends who find P&R boring as shit, and there's really nothing I can do to convince anybody otherwise.

it's a little trollish to say it in this thread, sure, i guess, but it's my honest opinion. i like lots of character-driven shows, and I think P&R is a subpar one.

JaySeanLilWayne (some dude), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 22:38 (fifteen years ago)

It wasn't meant to be sarcasm! I knew you liked Lorre stuff, but I guess I never noticed your P&R comments before.

'what are you, the Hymen Protection League of America?' (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 22:38 (fifteen years ago)

right, but also when you state that one thing is "better" than another, you're acting like it is some kind of objective judgment.

xp

I think it's safe to omit "in my opinion" every now and again.

"This is the thread about Parks and Recreation! But we could go either way on it, meh whatever shrug eyeroll"

VegemiteGrrl, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 22:59 (fifteen years ago)

Are we only supposed to praise the subject in any given thread?

'what are you, the Hymen Protection League of America?' (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 22:59 (fifteen years ago)

If that was the case, the Brett Favre thread would be *crickets*

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 23:00 (fifteen years ago)

if it's P & R, then yes. :D

VegemiteGrrl, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 23:03 (fifteen years ago)

just wanted to point out that all the s3 episodes we've seen so far were written and filmed directly after s2 ended, so we're coming up on the actual newly filmed stuff when the show returns from its break. given that they came up with adam scott's character arc after they'd already done like 20 episodes in a row, i don't mind that it ended up a little slapdash. the overall episodes were still very good.

thank you for talking sense polyphonic

JaySeanLilWayne (some dude), Thursday, 10 March 2011 02:08 (fifteen years ago)

like...the ONE time i don't throw "imo" at the end of a post i get shit for it

JaySeanLilWayne (some dude), Thursday, 10 March 2011 02:10 (fifteen years ago)

yeah this whole debate is ridiculous, of course a statement in a thread like this is an opinion (however RONG it might be).

Good point re shooting schedule, it's not terribly fair to judge s3 on the basis of the run of episodes to date. Also we'll start seeing Leslie's waist again.

Birds (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 10 March 2011 02:15 (fifteen years ago)

lol at all the stans

the best episodes of p&r are worth seeing, but...

c'mon

history mayne, Thursday, 10 March 2011 09:36 (fifteen years ago)

also from the link upthread

Look, business-wise it makes a lot of sense. Two and a Half Men is a money-printing machine; Lowe would probably multiply his paycheck many times over. Furthermore, the producers of that show are gonna be looking for a likable, uncontroversial guy to replace the volatile and batshit-crazy Sheen, and there are few actors out there more likable than Rob Lowe.

okeeeeeey

history mayne, Thursday, 10 March 2011 10:30 (fifteen years ago)

sex tape is pretty much forgotten by now; I'm not sure what you're getting at hm.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 10 March 2011 10:37 (fifteen years ago)

well obviously neither one of us has forgotten it -- just sort of lol'd at the blogger reaching for the word 'uncontroversial' when s/he could have... not.

history mayne, Thursday, 10 March 2011 11:19 (fifteen years ago)

i've never heard of this sex tape business

ullr saves (gbx), Thursday, 10 March 2011 17:05 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, that was 1988. Half of P&R's audience wasn't even born then.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 10 March 2011 17:10 (fifteen years ago)

i did raise my eyebrow a little at "uncontroversial" too. also Lowe's had other issues involving sexual harassment accusations from nannies, and left 2 shows in the middle of their runs in the past decade because he wasn't happy with the writing or how much screentime he was getting.

JaySeanLilWayne (some dude), Thursday, 10 March 2011 17:17 (fifteen years ago)

I will happily stan for this show--it's got the rare combination of being very funny and very charming. It appeals to my good nature.

reggaeton for the painfully alone (polyphonic), Saturday, 12 March 2011 18:41 (fifteen years ago)

I was watching that Wanted movie on FX a couple weekends ago and noticed he was in that playing a real douchebag...did not like that look on him at all.
