also chesney has done 1 thing wrong in months, our goalie situation is 'we have a good solid keeper'.

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:38 (fifteen years ago)

that was great

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:38 (fifteen years ago)

1 ch sent off while having two of their four injured, leaving smalling.

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:39 (fifteen years ago)

they will have been disappointed not to have been (nakhchivan), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:40 (fifteen years ago)

Meh. So who the fuck's going to partner Smalling against Liverpool? O'Shea?

WAYNE ROONEY ELBOW STORM (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:40 (fifteen years ago)

would've been handy if arsenal could've hung onto that 4-0 lead at newcastle

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:40 (fifteen years ago)

yup, chesney is solid; koscielny is also alright as long as he's beside djourou and not squillaci

was just a wee booboo

el tuomboto (cozen), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:41 (fifteen years ago)

You're never safe at 4-0 up - always a bad move to sit on that lead, instead of searching for the decisive fifth goal to kill the game off.

WAYNE ROONEY ELBOW STORM (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:41 (fifteen years ago)

^still blaming squillaci for that

el tuomboto (cozen), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:42 (fifteen years ago)

can't really blame them, I've seen sides go 4-0 up and win before

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:43 (fifteen years ago)

tonight makes Chelsea almost as good as Wolves, then

Nulty By Nature (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:44 (fifteen years ago)

Will love it if Carroll makes his debut against Smalling and O'Shea.

Tbf, for a neutral, every team in the top five is eminently beatable. This could end up being an exciting finish.

Le mépris vient de la tête, la haine vient du cœur (Michael White), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:47 (fifteen years ago)

wonderful game, best "sky sports big game event" in a long long time. unbelievable pace to it at times.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:50 (fifteen years ago)

From James, Basingstoke, on text: "Absolutely appalling officiating. I'm a neutral and that decision has killed the game. Shame. Both teams were going for the win and could have been a grandstand finish."

2145: Well, James from Basingstoke, I thought that was a cracking finish anyway, to be honest. But then I'm always a bit biased when one of my predos comes good. Stay right here for reaction from Stamford Bridge as soon as it comes in.

they will have been disappointed not to have been (nakhchivan), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:50 (fifteen years ago)

I only saw the first half but it was remarkable fluid and open for such a match; great end to end play at times.

Le mépris vient de la tête, la haine vient du cœur (Michael White), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:52 (fifteen years ago)

that decision has killed the game

It was a shite penalty decision and Chelsea should already have been down to ten men by then, but I thought Chelsea were the stronger team pretty much from the United goal onwards.

WAYNE ROONEY ELBOW STORM (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:53 (fifteen years ago)

did nobody else reckon vidic handballed for that chelsea chance in the first half? i slowed it down and it looks like it hits his elbow, he even moves it away the instant it happens.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:57 (fifteen years ago)

So it's now the R\o/\o/ney then? Poor old 'B', pour one out, heaven needed the second letter of the alphabet.

progspeed you! black metallers (aldo), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:04 (fifteen years ago)

agreed.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:04 (fifteen years ago)

pretty clear pen, or did smalling's leg not go across zhirkov's path?

utterfilth (whatever), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:06 (fifteen years ago)

Too bad nobody went mental with a firearm tonight tbh.

James Mitchell, Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:07 (fifteen years ago)

but the luiz challenges, yes, he's lucky to have not been sent off. still kind of sickening to watch ferg's usual rant, putting further pressure on refs.

utterfilth (whatever), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:07 (fifteen years ago)

Smalling's leg didn't move - it was planted on the ground (xp), but then Rooney only gave away a free-kick instead of getting a red card on Saturday, so what goes around...

WAYNE ROONEY ELBOW STORM (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:08 (fifteen years ago)

radio 5 were having lols at cashley's crap free kick

"he's tried to rifle that"
"yes, but it was just an air shot really"

utterfilth (whatever), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:08 (fifteen years ago)

luiz should definitely have gone, but there was nothing at all wrong with that penalty call

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:09 (fifteen years ago)

not true when you see it in replay. his leg goes out because he's just deflected the ball and instinctively sees a chance to get it back or hit it again, just at the point that zhirkov runs through. granted it's not an out and out trip, but it's def a foul in the area.

utterfilth (whatever), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:11 (fifteen years ago)

david luiz is brilliant, like potentially 75% as good as lúcio, which will make him the best defender in the world in the mid 2010s

better technique than virtually every english player, pretty strong, quick, capable of surging runs to the edge of the opposition box and seemingly pretty good at kicking the shit out of subhuman filth like rooney

they will have been disappointed not to have been (nakhchivan), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:11 (fifteen years ago)

i mean, not an out and out deliberate trip.

utterfilth (whatever), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:12 (fifteen years ago)

he's a little reckless but great to watch

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:12 (fifteen years ago)

The various Vidic fouls could scarcely have been more obvious, otoh

WAYNE ROONEY ELBOW STORM (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:13 (fifteen years ago)

thought luiz had been watching vidic videos beforehand tbh

utterfilth (whatever), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:14 (fifteen years ago)

not sure what vidic has to teach a dude that trains with EBJT

i've never even got the whole ashley cole thing either

apart from cuckolding england's cutest abh convictee and getting trolled by his own editor/publisher, i'm not sure what he has done to deserve the hate

^^^like this attitude and think I'll try fitting it into my own life xp

Ramires: The biggest waste of money this season?

I know everything this dude says turns out to be wrong immediately after he says it, but Ramires looked pretty useful in the second half.

Worried about Chelsea's midfield apparently having gelled now, this should make them a lock for the top four now. Bad day for Spurs fans.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:33 (fifteen years ago)

fuckin hell fellaini out for season?

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:34 (fifteen years ago)

ramires was overpriced by about 40%, but he is a potentially useful utility player....can play across the midfield and i'd guess could fill in a fullback

agree about the implications for spurs, but essien's touch still looks rusty

they will have been disappointed not to have been (nakhchivan), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:35 (fifteen years ago)

ramires has looked like a very useful player who doesn't fit chelsea so far.

i remember that were malouda for a full season that were one time

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:36 (fifteen years ago)

spurs have not rly been 'at it' since a good while before christmas, though i've been pleasantly surprised by our ability to churn out results from poor performances.

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:36 (fifteen years ago)

could see them FINALLY getting kaká or a similar attacking midfielder in the summer, which would give ramires the chance to emulate the great darren fletcher as a sort of sub-gattuso scrappy hacky midfield terrier

the new brazil manager seems to be planning for a defensive midfield fulcrum of ramires and lucas
