well i am and i can confirm we demanded this feature out of pure bitterness and spite, fuck yall 'computer users'!

ice cr?m, Sunday, 27 February 2011 00:57 (fifteen years ago)

AA: Reason I heard was they didn't want ppl authorising their friend's computers and redownloading everything, but sounds spurious to me. I am not a Record Company Exec, tho.

Now that there's no DRM I suppose it's reasonable to expect users to manage their own backups. Still, shithouse.

egregious fannydangling (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 27 February 2011 05:40 (fifteen years ago)

I've never had a problem redownloading apps in fact when pp took my old iPhone ( he uses it as an iPod touch only on wifi so no ATT charges) all my existing apps worked fine and the ones I had deleted he could redownload for free also the ones I had downloaded onto my new phone. Not sure he ever tried to download a new one for just his phone.
I've had problems with audiobooks though. My comp at work syncs podcasts and audiobooks and my home one everything else but of course I had synced at home with 'sync audiobooks' on and it wiped all my audiobooks from my iPhone. I had to pay for those again. Sucky.

Romford Spring (DG), Monday, 28 February 2011 15:13 (fifteen years ago)

Funny how this thread and I HATE APPLe have basically become the same thread.

Super Cub, Monday, 28 February 2011 18:07 (fifteen years ago)

It didn't have to be.

Talk about complaints in the HATE thread.

Talk about lust-worthy new products and ridiculous rumors here.

Easy!

dan selzer, Monday, 28 February 2011 18:15 (fifteen years ago)

heard back from customer service and they're claiming they don't have any record of the order #s on the receipts I received from them WTF

The Land Berore Time (jamescobo), Monday, 28 February 2011 19:12 (fifteen years ago)

heard back from customer service and they're claiming they don't have any record of the order #s on the receipts I received from them

that seems.... impossible

progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 10:22 (fifteen years ago)

Perhaps you accidentally bought them from Fake Steve Jobs.

Alba, Tuesday, 1 March 2011 10:35 (fifteen years ago)

the best part: the customer service rep handling my claim says he works from Friday to Tuesday! I filed this shit on 2/24 and the only official response I've received so far was the "sorry but those receipts in your inbox don't exist" email I got yesterday, so now I probably won't hear anything else until like next week.

I handle a lot of customer service for my real job so despite all evidence to the contrary I'm really trying to be patient and operate under the assumption that I'll get my $80 back but they've handled this extremely badly so far.

The Land Berore Time (jamescobo), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 18:55 (fifteen years ago)

Don't stop. Apple puts on this impenetrable omnipotent sheen but obviously it's subject to the same laws as everyone else.

nice but by all account this looks to be a 3GS iteration of the existing model, so probably no urge to upgrade
