I prefer schneider to Scott too.

I thought it was hilarious that Ann had never been dumped before and didn't realize it when it happened. Further lols at other people knowing and her continuing to not know.

Adam Scott's role is easy to explain, really. He even did it himself in this episode. New guy who moves around a lot, doesn't see the point in forging relationships, then finds out people in Pawnee are embracing him (they knew what kind of beer he likes) then he gets Tom's back by spraying "Tommy Fresh" in the perfume dude's Escalade. I can see him being super eager to be everyone's friend in future episodes almost to the point of annoyance.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 26 February 2011 03:44 (fifteen years ago)

It's almost impossible for me to watch Adam Scott in this and not think of Henry Pollard.

Mordy, Saturday, 26 February 2011 05:22 (fifteen years ago)

largely the same character-- a guy with a past he's running away from.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 26 February 2011 05:42 (fifteen years ago)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Offerman

In addition to acting, Offerman is also a professional boat builder and has a side business as a wood craftsman. Offerman makes furniture and other wooden structures such as canoes and boats at his woodshop.[4] He also released an instructional DVD in 2008 entitled Canoe Building with Nick Offerman.

there was a pretty cool interview with offerman in his studio on carson daly's show

mizzell, Saturday, 26 February 2011 21:14 (fifteen years ago)

Saw that. He said something about what his studio used to be in the past before it was his studio, but now I can't remember what it was. Was cool, though.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 26 February 2011 21:18 (fifteen years ago)

It sounds like a scene from the show, in the same way Tracy Morgan setting fire to his fishtank sounded like a scene from 30 Rock. Love this sort of thing.

Now both Swanson and Offerman are on my list of Ultimate Americans. NB there is nobody else on the list.

Gukbe, Saturday, 26 February 2011 23:30 (fifteen years ago)

i might be the only one, but i liked paul schneider on this show cuz he seemed like a real person & not a caricature

funnier than anything in this week's ep

this odyssey that refuses to quit calling itself (history mayne), Sunday, 27 February 2011 23:40 (fifteen years ago)

Schneider's character was so redundant that even he looked confused about why he was there.

Head goes goes goes (Schlafsack), Sunday, 27 February 2011 23:44 (fifteen years ago)

Sometimes they'd even have the action go past his office just so he could turn to camera and indicate a response, like they felt sorry for him and thought he should be involved somehow.

Head goes goes goes (Schlafsack), Sunday, 27 February 2011 23:45 (fifteen years ago)

That was always hilarious. Like in the PIGGYBACK BAM! episode.

Jeff, Monday, 28 February 2011 00:00 (fifteen years ago)

glad adam scott quit party down to do jokes about how fbook status updates are kinda banal

this odyssey that refuses to quit calling itself (history mayne), Monday, 28 February 2011 10:54 (fifteen years ago)

Yes, because the new series of Party Down is going so well!

trishyb, Monday, 28 February 2011 10:56 (fifteen years ago)

yeah yeah i know

still, i felt bad for him delivering it

this odyssey that refuses to quit calling itself (history mayne), Monday, 28 February 2011 10:58 (fifteen years ago)

yeah that was terrible

just sayin, Monday, 28 February 2011 11:24 (fifteen years ago)

I think as mentioned above, that maybe that was intentionally bad.

dan selzer, Monday, 28 February 2011 14:06 (fifteen years ago)

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 19:50 (fifteen years ago)

I like him on P&R but I don't really think losing him would be the end of the world.

reggaeton for the painfully alone (polyphonic), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 19:53 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, he's not vital, but I really appreciate him being around. Plus, Two and a Half Men is the ENEMY.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 19:54 (fifteen years ago)

Two And A Half Men is a way better show than P&R but i can't see Lowe fitting into the former as well as he has on the latter

JaySeanLilWayne (some dude), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 19:56 (fifteen years ago)

Two And A Half Men is a way better show than P&R

Did you shit your brain into the toilet this morning?

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 19:57 (fifteen years ago)

xp: lol

yeah are you crazy dude.

Charlie Ear Infection (chrisv2010), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:01 (fifteen years ago)

some dude is high on tiger blood.

reggaeton for the painfully alone (polyphonic), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:03 (fifteen years ago)

and vatican assassins.

The Scenario (chrisv2010), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:09 (fifteen years ago)

Would rather dump Adam Scott.

Jeff, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:09 (fifteen years ago)

Both are bad ideas.

WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:37 (fifteen years ago)

^ agreed. why dont they cancel two and a half men outright.

The Scenario (chrisv2010), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:37 (fifteen years ago)

if rob lowe does go to 2+1/2men they should just have him totally take over the charlie sheen role and not even acknowledge that there's a different character playing him

Mordy, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:39 (fifteen years ago)

Two And A Half Men is a way better show than P&R

I've read a lot of wtf opinions on ilx over the years, but this is just o_O

'what are you, the Hymen Protection League of America?' (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:41 (fifteen years ago)

yeah who would have guessed that a show that has 10 million more viewers than parks and rec might have some fans.

mizzell, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:52 (fifteen years ago)

i always wondered who these fans were. (the only two i know are middle-aged chinese semi-retirees)

Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:55 (fifteen years ago)

Yes, because popularity always equates to quality. I know people watch 2 1/2 Men, but even the people that watch it on a regular basis seem to admit they aren't quite sure why and that it really isn't that good.

'what are you, the Hymen Protection League of America?' (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:56 (fifteen years ago)

winning

JaySeanLilWayne (some dude), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:56 (fifteen years ago)

fwiw i think P&R is just kind of cutesy and intermittently funny and mainly watch it because it's on between other shows i like more. Two And A Half Men isn't amazing or anything but it at least makes me laugh and not just nod and go 'oh that was kind of clever'

JaySeanLilWayne (some dude), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:57 (fifteen years ago)

yeah who would have guessed that a show that has 10 million more viewers than parks and rec might have some fans.

― mizzell, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:52 (5 minutes ago)

ilxor isn't the real world

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 20:59 (fifteen years ago)

I don't know, the flu epidemic episode probably gave me more full-on belly laughs than anything else I've seen this year.

ancient, but very sexy (DJP), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 21:00 (fifteen years ago)

i missed the first 5 minutes of that one and i think i was too distracted trying to figure out why every other character was in a hospital bed

JaySeanLilWayne (some dude), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 21:01 (fifteen years ago)

Yes, because popularity always equates to quality.

that's not what i said, popularity = people like it. despite the fact that some people you know watch it without liking it, i'm gonna guess that a show who has attracted 15 million viewers for nearly a decade has some fans

mizzell, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 21:04 (fifteen years ago)

Really I was surpirsed that it was some dude saying that.

'what are you, the Hymen Protection League of America?' (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 21:05 (fifteen years ago)

jesus christ

Birds (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 21:15 (fifteen years ago)

^^ could be a hilarious addition to either show

'what are you, the Hymen Protection League of America?' (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 21:18 (fifteen years ago)

jesus christ and a half men

reggaeton for the painfully alone (polyphonic), Wednesday, 9 March 2011 21:18 (fifteen years ago)

while it's kind of trollish (and obnoxious) of some dude to say it's a "better" show, I can understand someone preferring the traditional zing-style sitcom jokes on Two & a Half to P&R's more character-driven humor. I have many friends who find P&R boring as shit, and there's really nothing I can do to convince anybody otherwise.

Rob Lowe leaving P&R is a good thing. I wouldn't mind if Adam Scott left, either. Get some new blood in there!

rockapads, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 21:19 (fifteen years ago)

Bring back Mark Brendanawicz'

Jeff, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 21:20 (fifteen years ago)

Bring back the pit (more entertaining than Mark Brendanawicz).
