Awesome!

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 24 February 2011 14:17 (fifteen years ago)

We used to be a horrible team. And this season has been odd, getting cards for stupidity issues (Sagna's red for reacting to Zabeleta's high challange with rubbing heads with him [as opposed to headbutting him, a little bit homoerotic was that] and Diaby reacting to a high challange from Joey Barton and the fact that it was Joey Barton). Song and Koscielny have been getting yellows like they have a bet to see who can give away the most fouls around our area - something they will hopefully stop because we concede most from set pieces.

The past five or so seasons before hand though, we have been in the bottom 5 clubs in the fair play league. Hopefully no-one has connected a dot between dirt and success and that this is just a blip because it sucks, I want to support a fair and honest team and you can't be a self-righteous bunch of cunts following thebig_sam.

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 24 February 2011 14:28 (fifteen years ago)

I've only ever seen 1 red in my time in the stands, and that was for a handball on a second yellow, so.

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 24 February 2011 14:30 (fifteen years ago)

Definitely feels like refs are less inclined to decide in Arsenal's favour in the games since Walcott's "I dived" comment, though.

James Mitchell, Thursday, 24 February 2011 14:34 (fifteen years ago)

if i were ref i'd be less inclined to decide in Arsenal's favour because arsene wenger whining is quite funny to watch

I've put the question mark inside the last quotation mark and it shouldnt be there cos it sounds like I'm asking if they were asking who was winning and it's really annoying me now and and and.

territory of the magic wand (Chris), Thursday, 24 February 2011 15:09 (fifteen years ago)

xp Not as funny as the Stoke fans doing another round of "Same old Arsenal, always cheating" as the stretcher was brought on to carry Feo off.

James Mitchell, Thursday, 24 February 2011 15:11 (fifteen years ago)

When I was at Newcastle-Fulham a couple of years back, the gloating Newcastle fans behind me started singing '1-0, 1-0, 1-0' in injury time at the Fulham fans as they trooped out.

The weird thing is, Newcastle were actually winning 2-0.

^ future Arsenal star Kyle Bartley enjoying his first minute of an Old Firm game. Was he sent out on loan to avoid him training with the regular sick-notes?

Worth watching to the end for reported future Arsenal/Man U (so probably Wigan or something) keeper McGregor in action at the third goal.

rooney again debasing himself. what a dreadful goblin.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Sunday, 27 February 2011 01:00 (fifteen years ago)

just saw the rooney thing - jesus but Clattenburg is a dolt. I expect shithouse tactics from Rooney (check him clocking right wjhere Maccarthy is before he does him) but Clattenburg seeing the lot then going over and reassuring Rooney he won't be sending him off is mind boggling. Maccarthy was luck he didn't get his jaw broken or something. I'm sure Imperial Lord Ferg is a) going to pass it off as Wayne's combative/winning spirit b) glad that Cashley shot someone to take the heat off ithe situation.

The Chelsea/Libya parallels are getting striking now I think about it, what with authority draining away from the old guard, the role of mercenaries, etc.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 27 February 2011 10:16 (fifteen years ago)

Not the first time he has shot his load into a etc etc.

James Mitchell, Sunday, 27 February 2011 12:12 (fifteen years ago)

just saw the rooney thing - jesus but Clattenburg is a dolt.

To be fair to the referee, they showed on the MOTD replays that he was watching the ball (naturally) and so would only have seen the incident out of the corner of his eye (if at all). The gesture he made afterwards seemed to be saying that he thought it was two players coming together - it certainly didn't look like a "I know you jumped at him with your elbow leading, but we're all friends here so I'm not going to do anything about it" gesture (though, to be honest, I'm not entirely sure what that gesture would look like).

The foul itself was quite bizarre. You often see players elbowing opponents when jumping for a header, or sometimes when running with the ball and being pulled back, but in these cases the ball is nearby and the opponent is behind them. Here they were far from the ball and the opponent was in front of Rooney. The other guy (whose name I can't be bothered to google) moved across his path to block him (which is not really a big deal) and Rooney seemed to get filled with instant massive rage and leap at him elbow first.

(those should have been italics for the quote, not url)

Death and Taxis (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 27 February 2011 13:13 (fifteen years ago)

Guess which foul-mouthed senile red-nosed old drunk said the following:

"There is nothing in it. But what will happen, because it is Wayne Rooney, the press will raise a campaign to get him hung by Tuesday or electrocuted or something like that.

"It is unbelievable. Watch the press. It will be interesting to see it."

James Mitchell, Sunday, 27 February 2011 13:32 (fifteen years ago)

Jim Davidson?

À la recherche du temps Pardew (jim in glasgow), Sunday, 27 February 2011 14:09 (fifteen years ago)

Parker's goal as good a strike as you'll see all season.

Number None, Sunday, 27 February 2011 14:20 (fifteen years ago)

Andy Carroll is too fat to play, apparently:
