Lex Pretend has over-the-top Alex in NYC-style hatred toward a band called The Weeknd.

oh, ok

ENBB, Monday, 11 April 2011 18:59 (fifteen years ago)

Thanks btw Rev. I tend not to get most of the ones that are ILM in jokes.

ENBB, Monday, 11 April 2011 19:03 (fifteen years ago)

Honestly it was just a ref to the dumb spelling of hipsteR&B buzz band "The Weeknd"

Lex Pretnd (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 11 April 2011 21:12 (fifteen years ago)

Too modest, Whiney, 'Lex Pretnd' kills and had me in stitches. It transcends being a mere display name, its echo rings Zeitgeist! There, I said it. In awe <3

Future Debts Collector (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 11 April 2011 21:28 (fifteen years ago)

it's so weird seeing my name w/capital letters that i didn't notice the spelling for ages!

OK not a dn question but what's with this big 4 stuff on ILM. Someone to explain pls.

There was a "big 4" of thrash metal (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax) and now there has to be one for every genre of metal ever, apparently.

GLOWER METAL (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Thursday, 14 April 2011 06:48 (fifteen years ago)

It's extra annoying because the big 4 was really linked to a time period and a movement, and was used as shorthand to describe the four bands who were popular way beyond the rest. Like there is a huge drop off from the least popular big 4 band (anthrax) and like testament or overkill.

These 6( !) threads that only like two people are posting in are just assigning the arbitrary number of "four" to subgenres and basically inviting people to name four popular black metal bands.

Listmaking at it's absolute most pointless.

Might as well be like "The Big 4 of PEANUT BUTTER"

"skippy, peter pan, jif, and I guess pb & co"

"awesome now who is the Big 4 of JELLY"

"I dunno man start a new thread"

are the BIG FOUR of metal the same as the SKY FOUR of metal or does it change every metal season?

the salmon of procrastination (darraghmac), Thursday, 14 April 2011 12:47 (fifteen years ago)

Oh man I didn't mean to get anyone riled but but figured the ppl who post here would be the ones who would know what was going on there. Out of curiosity who were the original big 4 aside from Anthrax? Wait nm I will google this so we can get back to DN. Sorry but thanks for explaining.

ENBB, Thursday, 14 April 2011 12:58 (fifteen years ago)
