Walcott has just had his right leg taken from under him and is rolling around in pain. Whitehead though, not Shawcross.

Its almost like Stoke are dirty fucks, but then you remember that "they are not those type of players".

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 21:11 (fifteen years ago)

jermaine defoe hasn't scored from open play since march 9th last year

stat p meaningless if u have actually watched those teams

song tripping 463 opposing players and koscielny getting 64 retarded double bookings vs industrial scale rotational fouling and general thuggery

oh don't spoil it

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 21:30 (fifteen years ago)

Should we bring up the Fair Play rankings too?

EZ Snappin, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 21:33 (fifteen years ago)

What about pictures of dying players snapped in half?

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 21:34 (fifteen years ago)

Reckless thuggery beaten again.

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 21:36 (fifteen years ago)

I missed that that was Spurs going for third on merit last night

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 21:50 (fifteen years ago)

Walcott has a sprained ankle. With a bit of luck and a lot of support I'm sure we can all get through this terrible time together.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 23:32 (fifteen years ago)

he is going to miss a cup final and playing the greatest team of all time, which sucks.

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 23:44 (fifteen years ago)

how can they be the greatest team of all time without gilberto?

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 23:53 (fifteen years ago)

how can you put my balls in your mouth?

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 23:55 (fifteen years ago)

Knew it was going to be worth getting tickets within shouting distance of Pulis. Pretty much everyone sat behind him gave their dugout abuse throughout the game, and pretty much constantly after Walcott went off. Chesney made two saves all game and Wee Jack was the only player to run forward with the ball instead of sideways passing. Think Arshavin ran with the ball once all night.

Stoke can get relegated now, hopefully. It's not new or funny any more. Completely dissolved their small amount of charm as the Hull City-style second division side improbably making it up to the Premier League. Wonder if Pulis makes himself such a stand-out knob week-in week-out to the opposing fans just to subtract attention away from his players? I mean, he's not really a shell-suited Neet from the Midlands, he's 'arry's neighbour in Sandbanks.

Oh, and at the back of the block we were in is where all the journalists and radio people sit and was pretty sure McNulty was there, looking pale and balding. Wanted to show him his ILF thread but obviously wasn't brave or stupid enough.

^^^^^ Better than a thousand standard match reports that.

utterfilth (whatever), Thursday, 24 February 2011 07:14 (fifteen years ago)

Forgot to mention the pretty much spontaneous "Tony Pulis is a cunt" chant that at least a few thousand people joined in with. Bet that came over well on telly.

James Mitchell, Thursday, 24 February 2011 08:44 (fifteen years ago)

Amusing on breakfast TV this morning, 'Ol Misery Guts Wenger is on moaning about something or other and the caption underneath read "Tony Pulis, Arsenal Manager"

'Walcott has a sprained ankle. With a bit of luck and a lot of support I'm sure we can all get through this terrible time together.'

I love Stoke. Steampunk. Arsenal fans are beyond caricature.

Worst foul I've ever seen in a football ground? Lee Dixon on Graeme Le Saux. Late, high, pre-meditated assult. Dixon straight red, marched off without waiting for the card. Standing ovation from Arsenal supporters.

Stoke can get relegated now, hopefully. It's not new or funny any more.

Au contraire, it's still very funny. And I say that as someone who knows full well what a humiliating defeat to Stoke feels like.

Arsenal are officially the dirtiest team in the Premiership at the moment and have been at other key points in their history, a fact they seemingly NEVER ACKNOWLEDGE.

Matt DC, Thursday, 24 February 2011 12:17 (fifteen years ago)

I've also seen Keown, Vieira, Parlour, Wright, Fabregas, Adeboyer and Van Persie commit terrible tackles that could/should have led to injuries.

Second worst ever though was Wise with a late, high two-footed lunge on a Villa player in late 90s. It was the last minute and we were winning 4-1. Stupid as well as vicious, classic Wise.

Third worst was Woodgate on Leboeuf, much like Dixon's. Leboeuf was stretchered off. O'Leary sarcastically applauded Leboeuf as he was carried past him.

What are the worst tackles you have ever seen readers?

isn't house rubbish and Pete W mental (Pete W), Thursday, 24 February 2011 12:19 (fifteen years ago)

Arsenal are Corinthian thugs who only ever Shawcross one of their own, in the service of the Beautiful Game.

Nulty By Nature (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 24 February 2011 12:19 (fifteen years ago)

They act in self-defence at all times

Tom D (Tom D.), Thursday, 24 February 2011 12:20 (fifteen years ago)

Dirtiest team in the Prem isn't Stoke or Blackburn or Wolves. It's Fulham. Mark Hughes is the manager everybody thinks Sam Allardye is.

isn't house rubbish and Pete W mental (Pete W), Thursday, 24 February 2011 12:22 (fifteen years ago)

Fewer bookings that anyone else in the Prem so they must be fooling a lot of refs.

Matt DC, Thursday, 24 February 2011 12:30 (fifteen years ago)

Honorable mention to Sunderland for Cattermole alone.

Matt DC, Thursday, 24 February 2011 12:30 (fifteen years ago)

Everybody is scared of/has too much respect for Sparky.

Actually, he's probably the single dirtiest player I've ever seen at Chelsea. Vicious and vindictive. Remember when we were losing to Stoke in the league cup and he commited an outrageous foul of pure spite and malice.

He got booked about eight times in his first ten games at Chelsea and said, 'I don't understand. I'm playing exactly the same as I did with United and I never got booked then.'

True story folks.

isn't house rubbish and Pete W mental (Pete W), Thursday, 24 February 2011 12:36 (fifteen years ago)

was lee dixon always a thug?

oddo futre wolf ganso kilgallon thome aldair (nakhchivan), Thursday, 24 February 2011 12:44 (fifteen years ago)

Dunno, but he and Le Saux had an ace feud for half-a-decade. No idea how it started but they were always kicking lumps.

isn't house rubbish and Pete W mental (Pete W), Thursday, 24 February 2011 12:52 (fifteen years ago)

I watched the first half and decided not to bother with the second as Arsenal weren't playing that well and Stoke had shut up shop and were protecting their one-nil deficit. Rather than out-and-out dirtiness I suspect it's that kind of negativity that riled the Arsenal fans the other night. The other thing you can't help notice is just how large Stoke's players are: Pulis clearly has a strategy and buying monster-sized players seems to be part of it.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 24 February 2011 14:17 (fifteen years ago)

We used to be a horrible team. And this season has been odd, getting cards for stupidity issues (Sagna's red for reacting to Zabeleta's high challange with rubbing heads with him [as opposed to headbutting him, a little bit homoerotic was that] and Diaby reacting to a high challange from Joey Barton and the fact that it was Joey Barton). Song and Koscielny have been getting yellows like they have a bet to see who can give away the most fouls around our area - something they will hopefully stop because we concede most from set pieces.

The past five or so seasons before hand though, we have been in the bottom 5 clubs in the fair play league. Hopefully no-one has connected a dot between dirt and success and that this is just a blip because it sucks, I want to support a fair and honest team and you can't be a self-righteous bunch of cunts following thebig_sam.

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 24 February 2011 14:28 (fifteen years ago)

I've only ever seen 1 red in my time in the stands, and that was for a handball on a second yellow, so.

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 24 February 2011 14:30 (fifteen years ago)

Definitely feels like refs are less inclined to decide in Arsenal's favour in the games since Walcott's "I dived" comment, though.

James Mitchell, Thursday, 24 February 2011 14:34 (fifteen years ago)

if i were ref i'd be less inclined to decide in Arsenal's favour because arsene wenger whining is quite funny to watch
