On the baby-name blog where I first saw that news, someone posited that "Facebook" might not sound that strange amid common Egyptian names like Falak and Farouk.

Then again, I don't think the objections to it are necessarily based on aesthetics.

A "friend" keeps befriending more and more friends every day, and this tiny little row of thumbnail mugs appears on my page.

I keep my friends diverse enough that there's got to be at least one person breaking the law, on unemployment, converting to Catholicism, gutterpunk, engaged, gay, married, going through a divorce, high, or rich. Life is a rich tapestry.
