saw him at the ica last week.

Eto'o ))) (ken c), Thursday, 17 February 2011 17:54 (fifteen years ago)

he was at the ploughing championships this year

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Thursday, 17 February 2011 17:58 (fifteen years ago)

could swear i saw john salako the day kennedy was shot.

(the perseverance is sort of lol irish pub, but for watching ireland play it's good, or occasional for general weird irishness. the landlord is this old mentaller who buys rounds and stuff, or cooks stew when ireland are playing a big football game and gives it out for free. bit of a dump but a good place to have handy.)

I see what this is (Local Garda), Thursday, 17 February 2011 18:22 (fifteen years ago)

john salako was a good player iirc

nulty dread (nakhchivan), Thursday, 17 February 2011 18:28 (fifteen years ago)

Jason McAteer says he was the toughest opponent he ever faced

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 17 February 2011 18:43 (fifteen years ago)

at draughts

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Thursday, 17 February 2011 20:15 (fifteen years ago)

master of the iberian opening, salako.

Re: Wickham it's not just £15m but also agricultural add-ons depending on CL/England appearances. Scythes, bales and harvesters.

utterfilth (whatever), Thursday, 17 February 2011 20:31 (fifteen years ago)

connor wickham would be an agricultural add-on amirite

nulty dread (nakhchivan), Thursday, 17 February 2011 20:35 (fifteen years ago)

quite right. i'll happily take 15m.

i can't work out if he'll end up like crouch but stronger, or zlatan without the ego. one of the two.

utterfilth (whatever), Thursday, 17 February 2011 20:40 (fifteen years ago)

he's a hyped english young striker - "without the ego" you say? doesn't compute.

if there is a King Moaty, apparently he is huge into slapstick. (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 17 February 2011 21:10 (fifteen years ago)

ok but.
from what i've seen/heard so far he hasn't got the ego yet.

[substitute 'premier league job' or 'wank agent' for 'ego' in that sentence and i'd reckon the computer would say yes.]

rip thebig_sam

amazed dunphy has never tore keane a new one, he is fucking shit for ireland, he was never as good for us as at club level and in recent years has got worse. i assume he just goes on the beer occasionally with giles and dunphy, they were all so unanimously in favour of him.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Saturday, 19 February 2011 10:08 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, tbh it was a bit of a surprise.

Contrarian dunphy showing how much better he knows than the animals on the terraces, maybe

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Saturday, 19 February 2011 12:06 (fifteen years ago)

Srsly how shit can you be with 45 international goals in 104 appearances? I'm not denying what you're saying as I don't watch Ireland very much but if England had a striker with that kind of record they'd be considered the Messiah.

Keane has scored that many international goals almost despite himself.

Wayne Rooney fairly close to that ratio and was booed off by England fans iirc. Crouch's record is better than both and he's a long way from being declared The Messiah.

AYE... MON THEN -----O----- (onimo), Saturday, 19 February 2011 18:06 (fifteen years ago)

penos and goalhanging for the most part, but no doubt he's got a great record internationally. I dont know if it'll be bettered, tbh.

Look, i spent a long time as a major fan of keane for both club and country. Over the past three years he's become a lazy, whining liability. His talent isn't in question, his attitude is appalling and, for ireland more so tbf, it has been for quite a long time.

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Saturday, 19 February 2011 18:14 (fifteen years ago)

on the pitch, he's also an entitled prick towards the younger lads. Wont stretch for a pass, wont kill himself running, very quick to bemoan the mistakes of others etc.

He's basically rooney - temper - effort

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Saturday, 19 February 2011 18:17 (fifteen years ago)

he's played for ireland like he did in his time at liverpool since long before that transfer. trying too hard, trying too hard to appear like he's trying, missing sitters endlessly, making a mess of chances by trying to look as if he's doing something spectacular, whinging at refs etc...responsibility goes to his head.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Saturday, 19 February 2011 18:17 (fifteen years ago)

the most annoying trait has got to be his consistent habit of stopping playing to remonstrate to the ref, regardless of where the ball is. Hate that so much.

Dont agree that he's playing with the desperation that cost him his composure at liverpool though. Quite the opposite, he's not really given two shits since

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Saturday, 19 February 2011 18:22 (fifteen years ago)

most of the time these days he remonstrates to the ref after he's already duffed the ball out of play with an awful first touch.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Saturday, 19 February 2011 18:27 (fifteen years ago)

duff, conversely, looks keane again. Go figure

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Saturday, 19 February 2011 18:50 (fifteen years ago)

Training ground free kick, Jamie O'Hara :D

The Nigiri Ya Love to Hate (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 20 February 2011 12:41 (fifteen years ago)

come on them wolves

ogmor, Sunday, 20 February 2011 12:48 (fifteen years ago)

O'Hara's a class act, wd be nice if Spurs could see their way to letting him go at the end of season ;)

The Nigiri Ya Love to Hate (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 20 February 2011 12:49 (fifteen years ago)

we do have a surfeit of midfielders when they're fit

ogmor, Sunday, 20 February 2011 12:51 (fifteen years ago)

we'd definitely let him go for anything around the 5m mark imo

which would be a mistake, imo

Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Sunday, 20 February 2011 13:16 (fifteen years ago)

fuck me Fortune's just missed a sitter

The Nigiri Ya Love to Hate (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 20 February 2011 13:22 (fifteen years ago)

Fucking Chippy

The Nigiri Ya Love to Hate (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 20 February 2011 13:53 (fifteen years ago)

fucking celebrating a score draw at home like you've won the Cup you no-mark cunts

The Nigiri Ya Love to Hate (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 20 February 2011 13:55 (fifteen years ago)

fuck sake wolves.

The referee was perfect (Chris), Sunday, 20 February 2011 13:56 (fifteen years ago)

Are they sure that's Carlos Vela who scored? Didn't think he did things like that.

James Mitchell, Sunday, 20 February 2011 13:58 (fifteen years ago)

don't think we had a shot on target second half, but there was a brilliant bit of play between Doyler and Seb that should've been a goal, think it was Shorey had to slide in and put it just the outside of the post. Not incisive enough, sat way too deep once we were in front, for all McCarthy's moaning he's the one who's picking them and setting them up, couldn't hold onto the ball second half just headless chicken shit mostly except for Doyle, O'Hara, Zube

The Nigiri Ya Love to Hate (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 20 February 2011 14:00 (fifteen years ago)

am resigned to him not getting the sack this season whatever happens now but GOD

The Nigiri Ya Love to Hate (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 20 February 2011 14:01 (fifteen years ago)

There's still loads of time to get out of it but by jove you need to put together back-to-back-wins and soon

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 20 February 2011 14:14 (fifteen years ago)

That Fortune miss... that was practically dartitis. His legs just refused to kick the ball into the goal. It was astonishing.

Weirdly, I still think the Brom are more likely to wind up in the bottom three. Their defence just seems incredibly untrustworthy, and I dunno that Odemwingie and Brunt can get them enough down the other end to make up for it. And Paul Scharner is a cock. I really quite like how earnest and energetic Wolves are, but that seems to be in the sort of way that would get them a "With regret" on The Apprentice.

Sounds par for the course, tbh.

re: robbie keane surely the worst thing about his play is that fucking goal celebration
