too effing hot

i think the worst i've ever had was a packed 1 train at rush hour with no a/c in august during one of those high 90s-100s heatwaves 2 summers ago.

I don't like the frozen grapes. cold in the fridge is good enough for me.

Frozen grapes make my teeth yell at me hardcore.

i think the smart thing to do in this weather is to obtain white wine and grapes.

They seem like a better idea than they turn out to be. They hurt my teeth and the flavor gets muted.

This is all very interesting. I have some grapes around and may try the fridge at least.

oh they definitely go in the fridge, but freezer is news to me.

i should just go and get an a/c tomorrow. it's the installation i really am not looking forward to. mainly b/c air conditioners are sharp on the back! silly

um yeah i have a small window unit in my wall hole so i had to cover up a bunch of extra space w/ duct tape which looks plain silly but guess what? i don't care!!!!

are you serious? you took the train/bus from laguardia?? i did that once when i was 18 and carrying about 200 beanie babies in a variety of suitcases. never again.

you know a taxi to manhattan from there isnt that expensive...

I took the bus and train to Manhattan from LG last time I was there. I have two co-workers who go all the time and they do the same. But then I'm pretty sure that none of us were hauling around any significant quantities of plush animals.

I did bus / train from La Guardia yesterday at about 2pm, with only carry on luggage. I did it because it would be an experience.

I am now experienced, and 20 pounds lighter due to the experience!

There's a fixed taxi fare from JFK to manhattan of like $45. I can't imagine La Guardia is that different. Not expensive, but not cheap.

It's a crime that no trains go to either airport. In Chicago we're building a direct express train to both airports. Not bragging or anything.... :)

Newark is probably the easiest of the airports to get to, and its not even in NYC! Just hop on a NJT train from Penn Station, and 15 minutes later you're off to your gate. LaGuardia is the friggin worst with the subway/bus mix.

The EWR disney ride monorail from the station to the airport is a joke, way slower than it needs to be. Ride out from Penn is easily the nicest though.

these are good for manhattan (freaking expensive for brooklyn or queens unless there is a lot of you)

I was staying at a hostel at West....113th? I had to get out to Newark and, Christ, that was a long trip. MTA to 33rd to PATH to airport train, then I missed my flight after 2 hours of travel. Maybe I did something wrong, but man, that sucked.

i once got screamed off the laguardia bus and forced to get off at the wrong terminal. seriously half the bus was screaming at me. or at least the driver and one really, really loud woman. never again.

Would have been quicker and easier to go to Penn station and get the NJT, a bit more expensive though (like 5 bucks)

woaaaaah, you actually took the PATH to Newark? Just take NJT it's literally 10-15 minutes.

You know what really sucks? Flying out of Dulles. Never again!

unless something's changed, taxis from lga aren't a fixed rate. i think i usually paid about $30 incl tip to go from there into the city.

(and our budget local car service, which often sends unlicensed dudes in busted minivans, only charges $18.)

I just won't pay $35+ to sit in traffic.

i was yelled at because i went up to the front of the bus to ask the driver what terminal we were at, because they didn't announce it AND it didn't say which one on my ticket. but he insisted it was my terminal and i needed to get off now and then some other lady got pissed at me being in the way and every one started yelling.
