Drive up to Wisconsin, Jesse.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 27 April 2006 00:11 (twenty years ago)

I am going to apply for these:

Production Controller, General Journals Production
Astronomy Production Controller
Manuscript Editor, Astronomy Group
Editorial Assistant, Acquisitions
Project Assistant III

The last two are in books.

I wish I could.

You know something? There's nothing like going to the Home Depot to remind you HOW VERY VERY SINGLE YOU ARE. Happy. Domestic. COUPLES. Cheek. To. Jowl.

Also annoying at the HD--they made each intercom announcement 4 times back to back. "Ned to paint Ned to paint Ned to paint Ned to paint." Notice the lack of commas. That is apparently how the do things at the North Ave HD.

And I am pretty much interested in that order as well, if you switch the 3rd and 4th positions.

With my limited knowledge of your background, I'd say your best bet is either of the Assistant positions. Only because as far as I know the Manuscript Editor position requires knowledge of astronomy/astrophysics and the controller positions require quite a bit of graphics/desktop publishing experience. Of course, I don't know that much about your background!

Holy makkara, Toivo! (OutDatWay), Thursday, 27 April 2006 00:43 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, the whole knowledge of astronomy thing was definitely a downside, but that's all good to know. Thanks.

regular roundups (Dave M), Thursday, 27 April 2006 00:49 (twenty years ago)

I do have a little publishing experience. I worked for the Journal of Political Economy last summer basically running the peer review process.

dead thread

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Thursday, 27 April 2006 02:19 (twenty years ago)

When I visited the spice store I picked up some random powdered things and I'm finding that they're super. Those things are

-powdered shiitakes (jazz up instant miso soup or use it to flavor anything else at all)
-blue cheese powder (good on popcorn, on meat, on veggies)
-cheddar powder (same story)

When I'm sad I play with my spices. Tonight I am creating more labels and putting them in bottles and organizing them. And dressing them up.

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Thursday, 27 April 2006 02:22 (twenty years ago)

Which is more fun than the alternative. Which is fixing the toilet.

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Thursday, 27 April 2006 02:23 (twenty years ago)

Blue cheese powder sounds good. I played with spices tonight, making a rub for tomorrow's ribs dinner.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 27 April 2006 02:34 (twenty years ago)

I'm in the mood for some wonderful nasty Eastern European food. Hello goulash and welcome stuffed cabbage.

Jordan, you always eat like a king. A king with a kingdom made of food.

Old Town North and Wells 1 bedroom with small office $775!?

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Thursday, 27 April 2006 03:18 (twenty years ago)

Speaking of food (attn Kelsey and Eazy), the Mpls Vietnamese place I was thinking of is NOT Lotus, but is in fact Quang on 28th & Nicollet.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 27 April 2006 03:19 (twenty years ago)

Wow, that is really nice. And right by Second City too!

regular roundups (Dave M), Thursday, 27 April 2006 03:19 (twenty years ago)

Top floor one BR with small office area, large living room, and BIG BACK DECK with views of city and St. Michaels on quiet street. A steal at $775. It is a unique space, definitely vintage, but cozy...with somewhat low attic ceilings. Sublet from 6/15-7/31 with option to renew...cats and dogs OK!!!

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Thursday, 27 April 2006 03:21 (twenty years ago)

I'm trying to post the ribs recipe to the blog but my connection is being all stupid.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 27 April 2006 03:24 (twenty years ago)

I have spent a couple hours doing minor carpentry. It's....theraputic.

I created a shelf and a...thing.

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Thursday, 27 April 2006 04:39 (twenty years ago)

Ladies and gentlemen, with due solemnity, I give you...THE THING:

Thanks. It's an herb garden.

That looks more like a giant pan flute than an herb garden.

Maybe tomorrow I'll have time to check out this blog. TOMORROW when I am NOT AT WORK aka "ON VACATION."

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:03 (twenty years ago)

I am on vacation tomorrow too!

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:03 (twenty years ago)

Massive xpost... hi Dave. I guess maybe if I'm going to be popping in to comment now and then I should do some sort of proper introduction here. I've kinda felt intimidated since you guys all seem to know each other IRL fairly well, but you seem like a decent group.

Anyway, my name is Jon. I live on the W1cker Park/UK Village borderline (apparently it depends who you ask), but am still working out in the north burbs for an architecture firm. Let's see, I'm nowhere near as talented as some of the people in here - I can't sing or play an instrument to save my life. But I do what every other music lover who can't play does - I write about it. I review discs for Stat1c Mult1m3d1a and occasionally update my blog. And I like long walks, but not really on the beach. I don't know, I guess that's about it. Feel free to ask me anything else if you are for some reason inclined.

(Why do I feel like I just posted a personal ad?)

jonviachicago (jonviachicago), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:04 (twenty years ago)

HI DO U HAVE A BIG COCK???

Man Man (kenan), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:08 (twenty years ago)

Hi Jon. You're about ready for the CHILX branding - it's small, and above the left wrist.

Eazy (Eazy), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:12 (twenty years ago)

Jon must have missed the thread where we all talked about how much we like to cut ourselves.

Man Man (kenan), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:16 (twenty years ago)

Eh, I tried. I knew there was no good way to attempt an introductory post.

jonviachicago (jonviachicago), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:18 (twenty years ago)

You scored! Don't take our riffs as failure! Hi, Jon!

Eazy (Eazy), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:20 (twenty years ago)

xpost to COCK-- ha ha.

also, DO YOU?

also, Hi Jon

also, The Thing is a thing to keep my heavy kitchen window open. It is a dowel cut to 30", 15", and 5" and screwed together. It allows me to have 3 options of window openness.

Also, I beat and sodomize the cat with it.

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:21 (twenty years ago)

Hi Jon, and welcome.

I am on vacation tomorrow too!

Me three! Canada, here I come.

Meanwhile, today I will slog through work, play a YWCA fundraiser at Hothouse, and then pack for the trip, all on four hours of sleep.

So I sent Adam -- the high-school friend I haven't talked to in maybe seven years who found me on Myspace -- a message, and he responded, and it's like OMG gossip overload. I'm reeling. That's all we did in high school, and it's sort of awesome to pick back up with him like that.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:42 (twenty years ago)

I feel you, John. Work, errands, cook, laundry, pack for New Orleans, get up at 4:30 am tomorrow.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:45 (twenty years ago)

You should just get a place in New Orleans and keep some clothes and essentials there so you never have to pack again.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:46 (twenty years ago)

I wonder how NO will be....I hope it's good and it's fun.

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:49 (twenty years ago)

Very impressive, three levels of cat sodomizing. I probably would have just shoved a book or fan or something to prop open the window, nice effort.

jonviachicago (jonviachicago), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:50 (twenty years ago)

hi jon, the only information we need now is height, age, and your opinion on blow.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:52 (twenty years ago)

So true! At one point (pre-Katrina), there was a house for sale in N.O. for $3,000 (!!). We were talking about buying it as a band and fixing it up or rebuilding so we would always have a place to stay.

Whuzzup Chicago. I just accepted a (p/t) job at I-I-T in their writing lab. Know what that means?

That I was OFFERED a job in the writing lab! Holy crap I am SO EXCITED I think I might have a boner. A boner for teaching.

No problem with it, but not for me - I'm too easily addicted to things.
