It seemed like a one-off to play up Abed and Troy's bond, but who knows.

The girl with Leather Tuscadero hair and the beauty mark on her cheek who hung out with Annie was CUET.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 11 February 2011 06:20 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah she was! The non-lesbian girl had a weird Marlee Matlin look, odd looking girl.
Loved Jeff carrying Chang back inside;
Chang yelling at the hermit crabs
Italian fanny= British for pizza
Annie making kiss face at Britta

Alison Brie addressed it on twitter earlier (apparently they're irl friends): she was Cyrina Fiallo.

Chang walking in the apt and immediately smashing the lamp with nunchucks had me pausing the TV to wipe the tears from my face.

dan selzer, Friday, 11 February 2011 06:37 (fifteen years ago)

i sure wish maite schwartz would make sure nobody drew wieners in me

the pierce plot is shaping up nicely—A+ abuse of the group at the beginning. ('i'm using it to have this stupid conversation with you.')

the whole lesbian plot is like out of ancient comedy or something

You don't get the candy hearts, or you don't get that "I've been cheating" could be taken two different ways in that context?

Ridiculously I was taken 'out' of the episode by the fact that Jeff etc were watching the Liverpool/Man U game at 6:30 pm Denver time which would mean it was kicking off at sometime around midnight English time! It really bothered me.

I wouldn't be surprised if soccer gets tape delayed in the US.

nickn, Friday, 11 February 2011 21:43 (fifteen years ago)

No tape delays on the East coast for European football matches afaik (at least on DirecTv). Not sure how it works in the Mountain time zone, though.

"BNL"

VegemiteGrrl, Saturday, 12 February 2011 17:50 (fifteen years ago)

i like that setup, where they have one study group member suddenly let slip their complete disagreement/oddity and the others all turn against them—britta's 'bagel', barenaked ladies… i feel like there have been some more but i can't remember them.

j., Saturday, 12 February 2011 19:19 (fifteen years ago)

Do people really leap to defend BNL? I have never experienced that. The Tragically Hip, sure.

polyphonic, Saturday, 12 February 2011 19:22 (fifteen years ago)

Thats why it's funny?

VegemiteGrrl, Saturday, 12 February 2011 20:27 (fifteen years ago)

Some BNL defenders are actually pretty vociferous (I've been screamed at at least once for talking smack about them). There's probably a reason or two why, but I hate that band so fucking much I refuse to ponder said reasons.

I wouldn't think that Tragically Hip defense would take up much time, as they seem so bland and unassuming that they wouldn't really even rise to the level of a minor annoyance.

yeah that was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. my family didn't have immediate laughter like I did but maybe this kind of comedy is just too quick for them ;)

Clearly, you did not live in Ottawa in the 90s.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Sunday, 13 February 2011 02:58 (fifteen years ago)

No, but Canadian friends have told me they're massive stadium-fillers up there. In the US, maybe they could headline a 3000-seat theater. Maybe.

Son of Sisyphus of Reaganing (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Sunday, 13 February 2011 03:14 (fifteen years ago)

I think they did better than that in Buffalo and Detroit but, yeah, they probably wouldn't inspire passionate debates in Denver.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Sunday, 13 February 2011 04:11 (fifteen years ago)

Plus, none of the Tragically Hip's songs inspired annoying singalongs in the U.S. the way that "One Week" and "If I Had $1000000" did.

# Birth Death Juxtaposition: As Pierce's mom narrates how life works, Abed can be seen helping a young couple give birth in the background. Considering his role in the show he probably sought the pregnant girl out for this very reason.

I don't know if we've posted this one yet, but it's an interview with Dan Harmon from December. Goes inot the animated special, why each character got chosen for the shape they did, his thoughts on concept eps, why the zombie ep went a bit too far, etc
